(Self-made Formula)
Treats hematemesis (vomiting blood) with purple-black color and clots. This is caused by heat damaging the collaterals and leading to bleeding, or by depression and anger injuring the Liver.
Sanqi (Panax Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma) (ground into powder and taken with water, 1 qian), Jiang Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum cum Zingibere et Alumine, 1.5 qian), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, 1 qian), Fuling (Poria, 3 qian), Hupo (Succinum, 8 fen), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix stir-fried with vinegar). If lotus root is unavailable, replace with one lotus leaf.
(Self-made Formula)
Treats reckless bleeding due to blood heat, where hematemesis fills a bowl.
Cebaiye (Platycladi Cacumen, 2 qian), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix, 1 liang), Qiai (Artemisiae Argyi Folium stir-fried, 5 fen). Add one lotus leaf, or mix in one cup of lotus root juice, and take with one cup of child's urine (Tongbian).
Pulse Diagnosis: The pulse of patients with blood disorders is often Kou (Knotted/Empty pulse, floating and large but empty in the middle, like pressing a scallion stem). A Kou pulse that is rapid and large indicates significant blood loss. A Kou pulse at the Cun position indicates hematemesis or hemoptysis; a Kou pulse at the Chi position indicates deficiency collapse due to excessive blood loss. A Ruo (Soggy/Fine) and Xi (Thready) pulse indicates the disease is about to heal. A Jin (Taut) pulse reveals an ominous sign; if this appears in a chronic illness, it is worrying. Yin pulses are favorable, while Yang pulses are unfavorable. One must carefully consider cold, heat, warmth, and coolness. In hematemesis, a rapid pulse indicates that Heart Blood cannot be retained. A strong, beating pulse at the Left Guan position suggests the Liver Wood has lost its softness. A Hong (Surging) pulse at the Right Cun position indicates Lung Qi rebelling upward. This is an adverse condition, and Yang Qi is difficult to restore.
Heart Meridian Syndromes: Zhengchong (Palpitations), Jianwang (Amnesia), Insomnia (due to emotional distress/unresolved grievances), Dian (Catatonic Schizophrenia-like disorder), Kuang (Manic Psychosis), Xian (Epilepsy).
The Heart is the Sovereign Official, from which Shen Ming (Spirit/Mind) emerges. Its nature is soft, its substance is Yin, and its function is spiritual and agile. Those suffering from Zhengchong (palpitations) certainly have excessive worry and fatigue. Often... [Text fragmentary] ... insufficient ... suitable ... down ...
Dian syndrome belongs to Yin diseases. The Classics state: "Excess Yin leads to Dian." It manifests as singing or laughing intermittently, resembling drunkenness or trance. Severe cases may not recognize cleanliness or filth. The presentation is often quiet and lethargic.
Kuang syndrome belongs to Yang diseases. The Classics state: "Excess Yang leads to Kuang." It involves arrogance and madness, difficult to restrain, arising from great fright and anger. The pathogenic factor resides in the Gallbladder, Liver, and Stomach meridians. With proper treatment, recovery occurs.
Xian syndrome is caused by phlegm confusing the Heart orifices, obstructing the spirit-clearing Qi. Ancient texts say: "When Yin and Yang become chaotic, it is called Xian." One must distinguish the five sounds corresponding to the Five Zang organs to differentiate...
