The pedicle of Momordicae Fructus (Gua Di, bitter melon stalk) in any amount is ground into powder. The patient is asked to hold a mouthful of water, and one "yi" (approx. 0.5-1g) of the powder is insufflated into the nose. Healing occurs when yellow fluid is discharged.
For patients with dampness constitution (Shi Jia) presenting with nasal congestion and headache, this method is appropriate.
Headache in dampness constitution arises from turbid pathogens invading the region where clear yang distributes. The nose is the orifice of qi, connecting upwards to the brain and downwards to the Lung. When turbid pathogens interfere here, the clear orifices become obstructed. Gua Di is bitter and excels at inducing vomiting and purging. When applied to the nasal orifice, it expels turbid pathogens and drains damp-heat. As the Classics state, "external pathogens should be eliminated," this refers to such cases.
Two sheng of Soybean (Da Dou). Stir-fry until extremely hot. First, place three sheng of warm vinegar in a clean bucket. Support the patient to sit on the bucket for fumigation for a short while. Then, pour the hot beans into the bucket and fumigate again. After a moment, wrap the beans in a cloth bag and apply them externally, followed by administering internal medicine for Yin syndromes.
This formula treats Yin Poison (Yin Du) characterized by cold extremities and retraction of the scrotum.
Yin Poison refers to cold pathogenic factors invading the Three Yin meridians. Cold governs contraction and drawing-in; thus, excessive Yin leads to scrotal retraction. Heat governs expansion and dilation; therefore, fumigation and heating cause the scrotum to relax and descend. Beans are sweet, and vinegar is sour. The combination of sweet and sour can evoke the Qi of the Jueyin Liver Wood meridian, thereby executing the command of dispersion and diffusion. As the Classics state, "open and disperse, adapting to the specific condition," this refers to such cases.
Tie green onions (Cong Bai, white part of Allii Fistulosi Bulbus) with a rope to a thickness resembling an arm. Cut off the root and the green parts, retaining approximately two cun of the white part. Heat one side over fire, then apply it to the area below the patient's umbilicus. Use an ironing tool filled with fire above it to press-warm, allowing the heat from the onion and the fire to enter the abdomen. Prepare three or four such cakes, replacing them when they cool. If the patient regains consciousness, hands and feet become warm, and sweat appears, the disease will subside; otherwise...
This method treats Yin Poison manifesting as cold extremities, abdominal pain, and sudden collapse.
In general physiology, exhalation is governed by the Heart and Lung, while inhalation is governed by the Kidney and Liver. When Yin-cold invades the Kidney and Liver, they lose the ability to govern inhalation. Consequently, there is exhalation without inhalation, leading to cold extremities, abdominal pain, and sudden death. It is appropriate to use external Cong Xi therapy (green onion pressing-moxibustion) and internally administer Sini Tang (Four Reversals Decoction). Green onions have the miracle of unblocking the interior, and fire has the merit of restoring Yang. As the Classics state, "use heat for cold conditions," this refers to such cases.
