Dahuang (Rhizoma et Radix Rhei), Dangguiwei (Radix Angelicae Sinensis Cauda), Qianghuo (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii) each 5 qian; Taoren (Semen Persicae, crushed), Huomaren (Fructus Cannabis, shelled) 1 liang.
Made into honey pills.
This formula achieves moistening through purgation ("tong"), rather than relying solely on cooling and moistening agents. Latent fire and dryness accumulation are cleared only after being swept away; without needing direct moistening, the dryness is naturally eliminated.
Dangguishen (Radix Angelicae Sinensis Root Body), Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae), Taoren (Semen Persicae, crushed), Honghua (Flos Carthami), Zhigancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata) 1 qian; Shengdihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata), Shudihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata) 5 fen.
Although it is said that the disease is located at the pylorus (Youmen), there are no specific drugs for treating the pylorus alone. The treatment essentially involves harmonizing Qi and Blood, unblocking the Stomach Fu organ, allowing clear Qi to ascend and turbid Qi to descend, thereby bringing peace to the upper and lower parts.
The wisdom lies particularly in avoiding aromatic-dry and purgative methods.
Jiucaizhi (Expressed Juice of Allium tuberosum), Niurou (Lactis Bovinis).
In equal proportions, sip occasionally.
Jiucaizhi removes blood stasis and generates new blood, while also opening up Stomach Qi; Niurou nourishes Blood and moistens dryness, and additionally unblocks the Large Intestine. By avoiding acrid-hot substances that might consume Yin fluids and damage Jin Ye (Body Fluids), this is indeed an excellent method.
Huangqi (Radix Astragali), Shudihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata), Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba), Wuweizi (Fructus Schisandrae), Maidong (Radix Ophiopogonis) each 3 liang; Tiantong (Radix Asparagi), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata) 3 qian; Fuling (Poria) 1 liang.
Take 3 qian per dose. Decoct with Wumei (Fructus Mume), Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens), and Dazao (Fructus Jujubae).
Simultaneously tonifies both Qi and Blood, astringes Yin and generates fluids, with considerable potency. Since the formula already contains Wuweizi, there is no need to add Wumei.
Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis), Tianhuafen (Radix Trichosanthis), Shengdizhi (Expressed Juice of Radix Rehmanniae), Ouji (Expressed Juice of Rhizoma Nelumbinis), Niurou (Lactis Bovinis).
Grind Huanglian and Tianhuafen into powder and take with liquid mixture.
Treats Xiao Ke (Wasting-Thirst syndrome) caused by Stomach Heat. If Tianhuafen is unavailable, other herbs should be heavily used; Huanglian should be replaced with Hulian (Rhizoma Coptidis var. chinensis or similar), as Chuanlian (standard Rhizoma Coptidis) can only drain Heart Fire, whereas its ability to generate fluids and quench thirst is inferior to Hulian.
Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Huangqi (Radix Astragali, honey-fried), Zhigancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata), Shengdihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata), Shudihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata), Tiantong (Radix Asparagi), Maidong (Radix Ophiopogonis), Pipaye (Folium Eriobotryae, honey-fried), Shihu (Caulis Dendrobii), Zexie (Rhizoma Alismatis), Zhike (Fructus Aurantii, bran-fried).
In equal proportions, take 3 qian per dose.
The brilliance of this formula lies in clearing Metal (Lung) and moistening the Lungs to benefit the source of Water (Kidney); furthermore, Zexie and Zhike drain stagnant heat. Thus, thirst ceases and irritability is removed.
Fuling (Poria), Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis), Tianhuafen (Radix Trichosanthis), Bixie (Rhizoma Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae), Shudihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Fupenzi (Fructus Rubi), Xuan Shen (Radix Scrophulariae) 1 liang, Shihu (Caulis Dendrobii), Shechuangzi (Fructus Cnidii) 7 qian 5 fen, Ji Nei Jin (Endosteum Gigeriae Galli) 30 units.
Made into honey pills, taken with Ci Shi Tang (Magnetite Decoction).
When Metal and Water (Lung and Kidney) are both injured, it constitutes Xia Xiao (Lower Wasting-Thirst). Shechuangzi is extremely drying and hot like fire and must absolutely not be used. Similarly, the digestive action of Ji Nei Jin and the sedative/heavy nature of Ci Shi are not suitable for this condition.
