According to the "Chapter on the Generation of the Five Zang Organs" in the *Suwen* (Basic Questions), the kidney harmonizes with bones, and its luster manifests in the hair. According to the "Chapter on the Heavenly Truth of Antiquity" in the same text: when Kidney Qi is substantial, teeth are replaced and hair grows. This indicates that hair belongs to the Kidney. Furthermore, the Heart governs Blood; hair is the surplus of Blood, thus hair also belongs to the Heart. Hair grows on the head, resembling the Fire element; those who overuse their mind often experience premature graying, which serves as a verification of Heart pathology. Chao Yuanfang stated: The luster of the Gallbladder manifests in the beard. Additionally, the *Ling Shu* (Spiritual Pivot) states: If the Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel) and Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) do not nourish the lips, the beard will not grow. Therefore, although the beard and hair differ, they both ultimately rely on Ying Blood (Nutritive Blood) for moistening and nourishment. Five selected formulas are presented below.
Tianbao Single Formula
Treats men and women suffering from chronic Tou Feng (Head Wind) with dizziness and mental cloudiness, dry and falling hair, and phlegm obstruction in the chest. Upon each attack, there is vertigo and blurred vision, accompanied by an unconscious sensation of impending collapse; this is its clinical manifestation. First, moxa should be applied to both Fengchi GB20 acupoints, seven moxa cones at each point, followed by the administration of this medicinal wine and powder. This ensures complete recovery. The preparation method is as follows: At the end of spring or beginning of summer, collect the soft shoots of white chrysanthemum and dry them in the shade, then pound into powder. On an empty stomach, take one Fang Cun Bi (a traditional measure approx. 1 square inch) and mix with non-ashy wine for ingestion. Take twice daily, gradually increasing to three Fang Cun Bi. For those who do not drink alcohol, mixing with soup or porridge juice is also acceptable. In the eighth lunar month, harvest the flowers and dry them in the sun. Take three large jin (approx. 1.5 kg), place in a raw silk bag, and store in three large dou (approx. 37.5 L) of wine. After seven days, it is ready for consumption. Take three times daily; it is best to maintain a continuous mild intoxication.

Combine the two juices and simmer slowly over low heat until it becomes a paste. Store in a bottle. Take half a spoonful on an empty stomach daily with warm wine. Within one month, the beard will become black as lacquer.
Jifeng Miscellaneous Excitement Formula
Use female and male roots of Polygonum multiflorum (He Shou Wu), half a jin (approx. 250g) each, divided into four parts. One part is soaked in Angelica sinensis juice, one part in fresh Rehmannia juice, one part in Eclipta juice, and one part in human milk. After three days, remove and dry in the sun. Roast on tiles, grind in a stone mortar into powder, and mix with steamed jujube flesh to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take forty pills per dose on an empty stomach with boiling water.
