Initially take two pills; on the first day, add one pill; on the second day, add two pills. Gradually increase the dosage until the stool becomes slightly loose. Then, restart from two pills and add again in a cycle. When the accumulation is reduced by more than half, stop taking the medicine. For subsequent formulas treating accumulations, follow this method. There are specific modifications for spring, summer, autumn, and winter listed under each section: in autumn and winter, add half the amount of Hou Po, making the total weight one liang, and reduce Huang Lian by one qian and half. Use Huang Lian only seven qian as per spring and summer usage, without reduction even in autumn and winter. Take with light vinegar water on an empty stomach.
