Water Poisoning (Shui Du): In mountain streams, there are toxic insects that attack people wading in water, similar to Shi Gong but without physical form. Diagnosis: Initially chills, slight headache, orbital pain, mental restlessness/agitation, trembling limbs, stiffness in waist/back/joints, knee pain, mild fever, drowsiness, worse in evening than morning, cold extremities up to elbows/knees. Within one to three days, worms grow in abdomen eating lower body, causing anal sores that are painless/itchless, unnoticed. Without prompt treatment, after six to seven days, pus and ulceration appear in lower body. Worms ascend to eat internal organs, causing intense heat/toxicity, severe diarrhea, uncontrollable. By eight to nine days, even skilled doctors cannot cure. Death occurs within twenty days. To confirm water poisoning, boil five to six sheng of water, add five sheng of chopped small garlic, keep warm but not too hot, strain, and bathe. If water poisoning, red spots appear on body; absence indicates other conditions.
