Thirteen Methods
For malaria, moxa the Shangxing (Baihui 23) and Dazhui (GV14) acupoints. When an attack occurs, apply a total of one hundred moxa cones (Zhuang). The moxa cone should be the size of a millet seed or a fire grain. Laypeople do not understand this and insist on using large cones.
If feeling slightly unwell, moxa the Baihui (GV20) acupoint seven times. If it recurs, moxa another seven times. For extremely difficult-to-cure cases, do not exceed three moxibustion sessions.
Also moxa the Fengchi (GB20) acupoint, two locations, three times each.
Also moxa the Shenshu (BL23) acupoint one hundred times.
Also moxa the Sanjian (LI3) acupoint, located two cun below the second phalangeal joint of the hand in the tiger's mouth area. For three-year malaria, apply moxa immediately before onset.
To treat all types of malaria, regardless of location: Have the patient lie supine. Measure the distance between the two nipples with a rope. Bend the rope at the midpoint and measure downwards from the nipple to determine the moxa point. The number of moxa cones corresponds to the patient's age. Moxa the left side for males and the right side for females.
To treat malaria, puncture the Foot-Shaoyin channel until blood flows; cure follows.
To treat various types of malaria where the pulse is imperceptible, puncture the tips of the ten fingers until blood appears. Once the blood is expelled, the Heart Qi is restored. First, observe the body for red spots resembling small beans; puncture all such spots.
For malaria that begins in the late afternoon, Linqi (GB41) is the primary point.
For malaria presenting as excess syndrome with lower back and waist pain, or deficiency syndrome with epistaxis, Feiyang (BL58) is the primary point.
For malaria with excessive sweating, lower back pain preventing flexion and extension, eyes feeling like they are protruding, and neck feeling like it is being pulled, Kunlun (BL60) is the primary point.
To moxa for all types of malaria, Chize (LU5) is the primary point.
For any malaria that is difficult to cure, moxa Dazhui (GV14) before the onset of symptoms. Apply one hundred cones when the attack occurs. There will be no failure to cure.
Fifty-One Methods
Methods for Treating Eye Diseases:
Cuanzhu (BL2) primarily treats blurred vision, heat and pain in the eyes, and tearing. Insert the needle one fen deep. Retain for two Hu breaths. Perform reducing manipulation for three Xi breaths. Withdraw slowly.
Moxibustion is contraindicated. It is suitable to bleed and apply salt.
For corneal opacity with white membrane covering the pupil, dim vision, squinting, night blindness (Que Mu), cold tears, blurred vision, and fleshy growths, puncture Jingming (BL1). Insert one and a half fen deep. Retain for three Hu breaths. Perform reducing manipulation for five Xi breaths. For cold patterns, tonify first then reduce, then tonify again. For night blindness, retain for ten Xi breaths, then withdraw quickly.
For strabismus, facial paralysis (mouth and eye deviation), facial twitching, red and painful eyes, heat and pain in the eyes, hot and cold tears, and red eyelids, puncture Chengqi (ST1).
Located seven fen below the eye in the orbital bone, directly below the pupil in the depression. Insert two and a half fen deep. Perform reducing manipulation upon arrival of Deqi. Moxibustion is contraindicated.
For dim vision, puncture Zhongzhu (TE3). Insert two fen deep. Retain for three Hu breaths. Perform reducing manipulation for five Xi breaths. Moxa seven cones, sized like a sparrow droppings, located in the interstice behind the proximal interphalangeal joint of the little finger. For squinting, hemiplegia, esotropia, deafness, puncture Keren Zhu (ST7), also known as Shangguan (ST7). Insert one fen deep. Retain for a long time. Perform reducing manipulation upon arrival of Deqi. Moxibustion is also suitable. Thirty-seven cones daily up to two hundred cones. Cone size like a thin bamboo strip. Take the position lying on the side with mouth open. For dim vision, moxa the tenth thoracic vertebra below Dazhui, exactly in the midline of the spine, two hundred cones. More is better. This can improve vision; it is divine and excellent. After completing one thousand treatments over a thousand days, decoctions are unnecessary.
For Liver Fatigue with evil qi causing red eyes, moxa Dang Rong (EX-HN4) one hundred cones, on both sides. Located at the intersection of the Three Yin and Three Yang channels behind the ear and eye. Pressing here reveals transverse pulses above and below, opposite Ermen (TE21).
Shenshu (BL18) primarily treats poor vision. Moxa two hundred cones. For children, adjust according to Cun measurements; moxa one to twenty cones.
To treat wind-induced corneal opacity, moxa five cones on the bone at the head of the proximal phalanx of the middle finger. Cone size like a wheat grain. Alternate sides based on the disease.
To treat wind-induced itching, redness, and pain, moxa two cones at the Philtrum (Renzhong, GV26) nasal pillar. Lie supine while moxa.
To treat sudden corneal opacity, moxa three cones at the transverse crease of the thumb joint. Alternate sides based on the disease.
To treat dim vision: If one eye is dim, moxa the depression anterior to the wrist joint. If both eyes are dim, moxa both hands simultaneously. The number of cones corresponds to age.
After treating warm diseases, if eating Five Pungent Spices leads to blindness resulting in night blindness, moxa the ninth thoracic vertebra, named Shenshu (BL18), two hundred cones. Permanent cure.
Methods for Treating Leg Cramps:
To treat leg cramps, puncture Neikunlun (an extra point posterior to the medial malleolus). Located in the depression posterior to the medial malleolus. Insert six fen deep. Perform reducing manipulation upon arrival of Deqi.
Also moxa Chengshan (BL57). The number of cones corresponds to age. This is miraculous.
The twenty-first vertebra primarily treats stiffness and immobility of the waist and back, and cramping bi-syndrome. Moxa according to age.
To treat tendon spasms and cramps, with cramping and tightness of the ten fingers preventing flexion and extension, moxa seven cones above the lateral malleolus of the foot.
To treat cramps caused by loss of essence, with retraction of the genitals into the abdomen causing pulling pain, moxa Zhongfeng (LR4) fifty cones. Also for abdominal fullness, moxa fifty cones. One hundred cones for both feet. These two points also primarily treat throat swelling and reversal cold, and all distension caused by the Five Zang organs. For the elderly, add fifty cones. For those under fifty and children, moxa according to age.

For abdominal distension with cramps, moxa two and seven cones one cun above the umbilicus.
Methods for Treating Masses and Accumulations:
For a hard and enlarged lower abdomen like a plate or bowl, chest and abdominal fullness, indigestion, and women with masses and emaciation, moxa Sanjiaoshu (BL22) one hundred cones, administered in three sessions.
Moxa the depression posterior to the medial malleolus. The number of cones corresponds to age.
Moxa Qihai (CV6) one hundred cones.
For chronic cold and women's masses, borborygmus, diarrhea and dysentery, and colic around the umbilicus, moxa Tianshu (ST25) one hundred cones, administered in three sessions. Do not needle two cun lateral to the umbilicus.
For hard, full, and painful accumulations, moxa the Front-Mu point of the Spleen one hundred cones. Zhangmen (LR13) is this point.
To treat masses: Moxa the affected side. If on the left, moxa the left; if on the right, moxa the right. The first rib head near the second rib below is the moxa site. The second rib head near the third rib below towards the wing of the flesh is also a moxa site. Day one: three cones. Day two: five cones. Subsequently: seven cones. Cycle repeatedly until ten cones. Only garlic is forbidden; nothing else is restricted.
Also moxa Guanyuan (CV4) fifty cones.
Also moxa forty-five minutes (four finger widths) above the umbilicus fifty cones.
Gohuangshu (BL43) Two Points Method for Universal Treatment:
First, have the patient sit upright with the spine curved. Extend both arms and place them on the knees in front, keeping them straight. Align the thumbs with the knees. Support the elbows with an object to prevent arm movement. Palpate from the upper angle of the scapula to the lower end of the scapula. Between these points, there are four ribs and three intervals. In the middle, following the inner aspect of the scapula, approximately one finger-width away from the scapula edge, rub to remove the superficial intercostal space. Pressing here should induce a sensation of traction to the shoulder. Moxa one location on each side of the scapula interior, up to six hundred cones per side, or up to one thousand cones. At several hundred cones, Qi should descend, feeling solid like flowing water, indicating the expulsion of fluids. Stagnant phlegm and old diseases will also be expelled. This moxibustion treats everything. It primarily treats wasting-thirst, emaciation, deficiency-fatigue, nocturnal emissions, rebellious Qi, and coughing. It also has great efficacy for mania, confusion, and delirium. If the patient is too weak to sit upright, have them lie on their side. Pull the upper arm forward to locate the point. To roughly locate the point, use the right hand to press from the left shoulder; the spot beyond the reach of the fingertips is the location. The same applies to the left hand. Use the previous method to moxa. If the patient cannot sit upright and extend arms for long, they may lie prone on clothing, extending arms. Have someone pull the scapulae apart. Otherwise, the scapulae will cover the points. The clothing used must be of consistent thickness; otherwise, anterior-posterior movement will cause loss of the correct point location. This point is near the fifth thoracic vertebra. Seek and palpate accordingly. After moxa, Yang Qi becomes abundant. Adjust self-care to allow recovery.
Methods for Treating Heavy Head and Arms/Elbows:
For heavy head due to wind-fatigue, moxa Naohu (GV17) five cones. Needle three fen deep, tonifying method.
For heavy head unable to bear weight, moxa one and a half cun below Naohu.
For heavy body and limbs unable to support themselves, moxa Pishu (BL20). The number of cones corresponds to age. Needle five fen deep, tonifying method.
For heavy body and drowsiness without awareness, moxa Tianfu (LU3) fifty cones. Needle three fen deep, tonifying method.
For heavy body, moxa Shuifen (CV9) one hundred cones. Needle one cun deep, tonifying method.
For heavy body and limbs unable to lift, moxa Tianshu (ST25) fifty cones. Needle is contraindicated.
For heavy body with edema, reluctance to rise, wind-fatigue, and leg pain, moxa Zusanli (ST36) fifty cones. Needle five fen deep, tonifying method. Also, moxa the Foot-Taiyang channel fifty cones. Needle three fen deep, tonifying method.
For heavy arms unable to lift, moxa Jianjing (GB21). The number of cones corresponds to age, up to one hundred. Needle five fen deep, tonifying method.
Also, moxa Zuze (an extra point) thirty cones. Needle three fen deep, tonifying method.
The first vertebra is named Dazhu (BL11). It treats everything. Located one and a half cun or one cun two fen lateral to the midline. It primarily treats headache and neck pain preventing turning. For chest irritability and urgency, moxa according to age.
For various heat sensations and seasonal warm diseases, moxa Dazhui (GV14) one hundred cones. Needle three fen deep, reducing method. Moxa horizontally at one-cun intervals.
For heart irritability and rebellious Qi, moxa Feishu (BL13). Needle five fen deep.
For heart irritability and shortness of breath, moxa Xiaochangshu (BL27).
Also, moxa Jueque (CV14) and Qimen (LR14) one hundred cones each. Needle five fen deep.
Also, moxa Xinshu (BL15) one hundred cones. Needle five fen deep.
For head and body heat, moxa Weiguan (likely referring to Jiache or similar, text says Weiguan but context implies stomach/chest heat, possibly a typo for Weishu or similar, translating literally as Weiguan) one hundred cones. Needle is contraindicated.
For irritability,闷 (fullness), and worry, moxa Dachang (likely referring to Zhongwan CV12 or similar, text says Dachang which usually means Large Intestine but context suggests stomach/middle jiao, translating literally as Dachang) one hundred cones.
