Women suffering from hemorrhoids differ slightly from men; the condition is mostly caused by injury due to excessive sexual activity, accumulation of alcohol toxins, or long-term sitting while engaging in women's handicrafts. The etiology is somewhat unique, but otherwise, it is identical to that in men and can be treated similarly. The manifestations of the five types of hemorrhoids are recorded in the chapter on male hemorrhoids and fistulas.
Biejia San (Turtle Shell Powder): Treats hemorrhoids formed in women due to labor and injury from excessive sexual intercourse.
Ingredients: Bie Jia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum), Lu Feng Fang (Vespae Nidus), She Tui (Ophichthii Exuvies), Ci Pi (Cortex Rhamni Purshianae, assumed based on context as original text may have a missing character), Zhu Hou Ti Jia (Unguis Porci Posterioris). (The above five ingredients are each calcined to retain their properties, two qian each), She Xiang (Moschus, one fen).
Grind into fine powder. Take one qian per dose, administered with Sheng Di Huang Tang (Rehmanniae Radix Decoction) on an empty stomach. If there are painful swellings at anal orifices, topical application will lead to recovery. Avoid eating Amaranthus spinosus (Xian Cai).
Shi Hui San (Persimmon Ash Powder): Treats hemorrhoids caused by prolonged sitting leading to qi and blood stagnation in the anus in both men and women, as well as conditions such as Chang Feng (Wind in the Intestines), Zang Du (Visceral Toxin), hematochezia, and Chang Pi (Intestinal Dysentery/Paralysis).
Ingredients: Gan Shi (Siccum Diospyros Kaki Fructus), calcined to retain properties, ground into powder. Take two to three qian per dose, mixed with Mi Yin (Rice Water) on an empty stomach.
Proctoptosis in women is treated the same as in men. Although the pathogenesis differs—specifically due to straining during childbirth causing the anus to protrude—the treatment principles are identical. Methods involve lifting and astringing. For severe cases, moxibustion at Baihui GV20 is invariably effective.
Wen Ge San (Clam Shell Powder): Treats proctoptosis. Wu Bei Zi (Galla Chinensis) is ground into powder and used for washing the area after decoction with water. Adding Bai Fan (Alumen) and She Chuang Zi (Cnidii Fructus) yields even better results. For external support, Chi Shi Zhi (Halloysit Rubra) powder is sprinkled on Sang Ye (Mori Folium) or Ba Jiao Ye (Musa Basjoo Folium) to support the prolapsed rectum (which may extend over a chi in length). Soak and wash for a prolonged period using warm decoction held in a high vessel. The rectum will naturally retract. Change and wash daily; with time, it will naturally recover.
Internal herbal formulas for treating proctoptosis can also refer to those used for male proctoptosis.
Jin Lian Wen Bu Gao (Golden Lotus Steady Step Ointment): Treats painful ulceration between the toes in women.
Ingredients: Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex), Huang Dan (Minium), Jing Jie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica) in equal proportions.
Grind into fine powder and sprinkle on the affected area. Bind with cloth; pain will naturally subside and stability restored.
Chaihu Yi Gan San (Bupleurum Liver-Suppressing Powder): Treats women living in seclusion (or those with yin-deficiency patterns) presenting with aversion to cold and fever, symptoms closely resembling malaria.
Ingredients: Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix, 1.5 qian), Chi Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra, wine-fried), Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex, 1 qian each), Qing Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 1.5 qian), Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Gu Pi (Lycii Cortex, 0.5 qian each), Xiang Fu Mi (Cyperi Rhizoma, 1 qian), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 0.6 qian), Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Shan Zhi Ren (Gardeniae Semen, 0.8 qian each), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 0.3 qian), Shen Qu (Massa Medicata Fermentata, stir-fried).
Prepare as one dose. Decoct in water. Take on an empty stomach, and again at night. Repeated treatments yield repeated efficacy.
