In infants, swelling of the yin (genital area) occurs because the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian is the channel of the Kidneys, and its qi descends to connect with the yin. If the Qi of the Shaoyin Meridian is deficient and subjected to Wind pathogenic factors, the Qi rushes to the yin, and when Qi and Blood clash and knot together, swelling of the yin results. However, children vary in size and strength; treatment should be moderate. If Kidney Qi is deficient, or if the child sits on stone for a long time without rising, causing Cold Qi to coagulate; or if the child stays close to the ground for an extended period, injured by Wind and Dampness pathogenic factors, it would be rare not to develop swelling of the yin. Occasionally, crying and shouting cause anger to stagnate and block the lower jiao, leading to knotting and accumulation that does not disperse. Coupled with dysfunction of the water passages, this can also trigger this disease.
For swelling of the external genitalia in infants, Oyster Shell (Muli) is suitable. The amount is unrestricted; grind it into an extremely fine powder, apply saliva to the swollen area, and sprinkle the oyster shell powder on top. Alternatively, mixing it with egg white for application is also excellent. There is also hernia, known as unilateral scrotal swelling. In some cases, this is present from birth, causes no pain, requires no aggressive treatment, and heals spontaneously. If pain and swelling are severe, medication should be administered immediately. It is appropriate to take Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Poria Decoction), Qingmuxiang Wan (Blue Magnolia Pill), and Qi-regulating herbs. *Jisheng Fang* uses Cortex Moutan Radicis (Mudanpi) and Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng) ground into powder, taken with wine for excellent effect. Adding Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng) and Cortex Moutan Radicis (Mudanpi) to Wuling San is also effective. For heat patterns, Sanhuang Wan (Three-Yellow Pill) is taken.
Yunqi San: Treats infants after regulation, tonification, and unblocking, as well as abdominal pain caused by cold hernia and stagnant, disharmonious Qi.
Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng) (1 liang, stir-fried), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi) (peeled, 0.5 liang), Amomi Fructus (Sharen), Foeniculi Fructus (Huixiang) (each 2 qian), Zingiberis Rhizoma Praeparatum (Baijiang) (processed, 1.5 qian), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) (honey-fried, 2 qian).
Grind the above into a fine powder. Mix with boiling plain water for administration. For cold hernia abdominal pain, administer with salted broth. Take before meals.
Wumei San: Treats infant abdominal pain, cold pain below the umbilicus upon birth, and hernia.
Mume Fructus (Wumei) (one fruit, pitted), Corydalis Rhizoma (Yanhusuo), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) (half raw, half honey-fried, each 2.5 qian), Boswelliae Resina (Ruxiang), Myrrha (Moyao), Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis (Gouteng) (each 1.5 qian).
Cut the herbs, decoct in water, and take before meals.
Jinzhu Wan: Treats infant cold hernia pain and edema of the bladder sac.
Semen Meliae (Jinlingzi Rou) (0.5 liang), Evodiae Fructus (Wuzhuyu) (2.5 qian).
Grind into powder, make pills using wine-boiled paste, sized like millet seeds. Take fourteen pills before meals with salted broth.
Qingmuxiang Wan: Widens the middle and relieves the diaphragm; treats abdominal pain, hardness and fullness in the epigastrium, borborygmus in the intestines, and swelling of the yin.
Sojae Semen Preparatum (Heidou) (stir-fried, 1.5 liang), Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang), Psoraleae Fructus (Poguzhi) (stir-fried), Piperis Kadsurae Fructus (Bichengqie), Arecae Semen (Binglang) (each 4 qian).
First, wrap Binglang with millet rice in wet paper and roast until charred. Remove the rice, take the Binglang, and mix with the other herbs into powder. Add drops of water to form pills, sized like mung beans. Take ten pills at empty stomach with plain water.
External Application Formula: Treats swelling of the external genitalia in infants.
Oyster Shell Ash (Muli Hui) (2 qian), Earthworm (Dilong) (1 qian).
Grind into powder, mix with saliva for topical application. For heat patterns, mix with egg white.
Chantui San: Treats infant yin swelling caused by sitting on damp ground, Wind-Cold, or insect bites/blows. Use 0.5 liang of Cicada Slough (Chantui), two bowls of water, decoct to make a soup for washing the swollen area until it subsides. Wash again while warm. Additionally, internal administration of Wuling Dengxin Tang (Five-Ingredient Poria with Juncus Decoction) leads to recovery. Another formula: mix Scallion Stem (Congbai), garden earthworm mud, and Licorice Decoction for topical application to reduce swelling and relieve pain.
Dilong Gao: Treats infant hernia pain/swelling and yin sores. First wash with Scallion and Pepper Soup, then apply Earthworm Powder mixed with egg white. Another method: grind Peach Kernel (Taoren) into a paste, mix with saliva for application.
