Usage: Grind into fine powder. Use a goose feather tube to blow the powder into the ear. If the left eye is affected, blow into the right ear; if the right eye is affected, blow into the left ear. Do this three times a day, while simultaneously taking Tongming San internally. Early treatment is essential; delay will make it difficult to cure.
Another method: Use 1 qian each of Huangdan and Qingfen, blow into the ears as above, and internally administer water made from grinding male and female Binglang (Arecae Semen). This is highly effective.
Huiguang San (Returning Light Powder): Treats damage to the eyes from smallpox/measles.

Usage: Grind all together into powder. First, decoct old Chinese tea with Jiucai Gen (Radix Allii Tuberosi), wash the area with a chicken feather brush to remove rotten flesh until fresh blood appears, then apply the medicine three times. If rot extends to the throat, blow the powder in using a small bamboo tube. Even if teeth fall out due to extensive rotting and lips are perforated, application of this medicine can heal it. However, if red spots appear at the Shan Gen (root of the nose), it is incurable. Avoid greasy foods, chicken, fish, and other heating/triggering foods.
Tianhuang San (Heavenly Yellow Powder): Treats conditions after smallpox/measles where excessive consumption of sweets and food stagnation lead to 'Gan' heat. Symptoms include sores in the mouth and lips, swollen and rotting gums, even tooth loss, and unbearable odor. Highly effective.
Ingredients: Tiannanxing (Rhizoma Arisaematis) (1 liang, soaked in water until soft, sliced thinly), Xionghuang (Realgar) (2 qian)
Usage: Mix Xionghuang with Nanxing slices, wrap in wet paper, and slow-roast until the surface is scorched black. Remove, let dry, and grind into powder. Dip finger in medicine and apply inside the mouth 3-4 times a day, and again before bed. Do not spit out the residue.
For blisters appearing after smallpox/measles, decoct Dengxincao (Medulla Junci) and Luobo (Radix Raphani Sativi) in water and drink.
To treat post-smallpox/measles carbuncles/toxins regardless of which meridian they affect: when redness and swelling first appear, immediately use Black Beans (Vigna Angularis), Green Beans (Phaseolus Radiatus), and Red Beans (Phaseolus Angularis). Soak and grind them in vinegar to make a paste. Brush onto the affected area frequently with a chicken feather; the swelling will subside instantly like magic.
