Treats phlegm-fluid retention and latent fluid retention in the Middle Jiao (Middle Burner).
Banxia (Prepared Pinellia Rhizome, 2 liang) Fuling (Poria, 1 liang) Fenghuaxiao (Weathered Niter, 2.5 qian) Zhike (Aurantium Fruit, 5 qian)
The above four herbs are made into pills using ginger juice as a binder.
Ke Yunbo stated: The root of phlegm-fluid is water. Water enters the Stomach, its essence floats and overflows, and is transported upward to the Spleen; this is a movement from Yang into Yin. The Spleen scatters the essence and distributes it throughout the body. If stagnation occurs, fluid retention forms. Fuling leaches out dampness, Fenghuaxiao softens hardness, and Zhike regulates Qi. This differs from the sweet and緩 (gentle/retarding) nature of Erchen Tang and avoids the harsh and fierce action of Mengshi. It is essentially a formula for calming the Stomach!
Treats five labors and seven injuries, with dry blood retained internally, rough skin resembling fish scales (jiacuo), and dark eyes.
Dahuang (Rhubarb Root, 10 liang, steamed with wine) Huangqin (Scutellaria Root, 2 liang, stir-fried) Gancao (Licorice Root, 3 liang) Taoren (Peach Seed, 2 liang, de-skinned, de-pitted, stir-fried) Xingren (Apricot Seed, 2 liang, de-skinned, de-pitted, stir-fried) Mengchong (Blatta Orientalis, de-wings and feet, stir-fried) Shuizhi (Leech, processed) Qilao (Ground Beetle larva, processed) Ganqi (Resin of Toxicodendron vernicifluum, crushed, stir-fried) Zhechong (Ground Beetle, de-feet, stir-fried) Shaoyao (White Peony Root) Dihuang (Rehmannia Root)
The above twelve herbs are ground into powder, mixed with honey to form pills the size of small beans. Take five pills with wine, three times daily.
Li Shicai stated: In cases of labor injury, there is invariably blood stasis. When blood stasis persists for a long time, it generates heat; this heat dries up body fluids, causing the blood to become dry and adhere to the meridians and collaterals. Consequently, new blood fails to generate, leading to malnourishment of the skin, manifesting as jiacuo (rough, scaly skin) and dark eyes.
Treats Jueyin disease characterized by excessive thirst (xiao ke), sensation of Qi rushing upward to the heart, pain and burning heat in the epigastrium, hunger without desire to eat, and vomiting of roundworms after eating. It also treats chronic dysentery.
Wumei (Mume Fruit, 300 pieces) Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome, 1 jin) Xixin (Asarum Root) Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root) Renshen (Ginseng Root) Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig) Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark, each 6 liang) Ganjiang (Dried Ginger, 10 liang)
The above ten herbs are separately crushed and sifted, then combined. Soak Wumei in vinegar (Ku Jiu) overnight, remove the pits, steam them over five sheng of rice until cooked, then pound into a paste and mix with the herbal powders.
Ke Yunbo stated: Among the Six Meridians, Jueyin is the most difficult to treat. Its root is Yin, its branch is Heat, its substance is Wood, and its function is Fire. One must subdue what dominates and address the cause first. Jueyin Liver Wood has a Yin substance and Yang function. If Yang Qi is constrained internally, it generates excessive thirst; if Qi rebels upward, it strikes the heart. The interior is hollow, hence hunger without desire to eat. Roundworms prefer warmth and dislike cold, seeking relief through bitter flavors to astringe and enter the Liver channel. The Kidney is the mother of the Liver; use dispersing methods...
