龟甲：味甘，有毒。主治头疮久不愈合干燥困难，女子阴部疮疡及因惊恐愤怒引起的郁气，心腹疼痛导致无法长时间站立，骨骼中的寒热症状，伤寒病愈后复发，或身体忽冷忽热近乎死亡的状态，用其煮汤服用效果良好。长期服用可补益元气、增进智慧，也能使人食欲增加。产于南海及湖水中，采集没有固定时间，注意不要让药材受潮，受潮后便会产生毒性。（忌与沙参、蜚蠊同用。）
《神农本草经》原文记载：龟甲，味咸，性平。主治漏下赤白（阴道分泌物异常），破除瘕积（腹部结块）和疟疾，治疗五种痔疮及阴部溃烂腐蚀，缓解四肢沉重无力的湿痹症，促进小儿囟门闭合。长期服用无毒。主治温疟，血瘕，腰痛，小儿胁下坚硬积聚。龟肉，味甘，主治内伤虚损，补益元气，填补不足。产于丹阳，采集没有固定时间。（忌与矾石同用。）
鳖甲：《神农本草经》原文记载：鳖甲，味咸，性平。主治心腹部的癥瘕积聚，坚硬的寒热症状，去除痞块息肉，治疗阴部溃烂及恶肉痔疮。产于池塘沼泽。
乌贼鱼骨（海螵蛸）：味辛，微温。主治心腹部的癥瘕积聚，潜伏坚硬的积块，寒热症状，女子崩中下血（非经期大量出血）且血色五色混杂，小腹及阴部相互牵引作痛。无毒。主治惊气入腹，腹痛环绕肚脐，阴部寒冷肿胀，有助于受孕，又能止住疮疡多脓汁且不干燥的情况。乌贼鱼肉，性平，主治补益元气，增强意志。产于东海，采集没有固定时间。（忌与白蔹、白芨、附子同用。）
《神农本草经》原文记载：乌贼鱼骨，味咸，微温。主治女子漏下赤白，经血闭止，阴部溃烂肿痛，寒热癥瘕，不孕症。产于池塘沼泽。
蟹：有毒。能解结散血，治愈漆疮，滋养筋骨，补益元气。蟹爪，主治打破胞衣，堕胎。产于伊水、洛水等水域，采集没有固定时间。（警惕莨菪毒素。）
《神农本草经》原文记载：蟹，味咸，性寒。主治胸中邪气，热结疼痛，面部歪斜及肿胀，败坏漆器，烧死后能招引老鼠。产于池塘沼泽。
**Tortoise Shell (Guijia):** Sweet in flavor, toxic. It treats head sores that are difficult to dry and heal, women's genital ulcers, and qi stagnation caused by fright and anger. It addresses abdominal pain that prevents standing for long periods, cold-heat sensations in the bones, recurrence of Shanghan (Cold Damage disease), or severe alternating chills and fever approaching death; decocting it into a soup is effective. Long-term consumption tonifies Qi and enhances intelligence, and also promotes appetite. It grows in the South Sea and lakes. It can be harvested at any time but must not be allowed to become damp, as dampness renders it toxic. (Incompatible with Codonopsis Radix [Shashen] and Blatta orientalis [Feilian].)
*Original text from Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing:* Tortoise shell, salty in flavor, neutral in nature. It treats leukorrhea with blood (Lou Xia Chi Bai), breaks up mass formations (Zha Jia) and malaria, treats five types of hemorrhoids and genital erosion/corrosion, relieves damp-bi syndrome characterized by heaviness and weakness in the four limbs, and aids in the closure of the fontanelle in infants. Long-term consumption is non-toxic. It treats warm malaria, blood masses, lower back pain, and hard accumulations under the ribs in children. Tortoise meat, sweet in flavor, treats internal injury and deficiency, tonifies Qi, and supplements insufficiency. It grows in Danyang. It can be harvested at any time. (Incompatible with Alum [Fanshi].)
**Soft-shelled Turtle Shell (Biejia):** *Original text from Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing:* Soft-shelled turtle shell, salty in flavor, neutral in nature. It treats abdominal masses (Zheng Jia), hard accumulations with cold-heat symptoms, removes痞 (Pi) and polyps, and treats genital erosion and malignant flesh/hemorrhoids. It grows in ponds and marshes.
**Cuttlebone (Wuzeiyu Gu / Hai Piaoxiao):** Pungent in flavor, slightly warm. It treats abdominal masses, latent hard accumulations, cold-heat symptoms, metrorrhagia with mixed-colored blood in women, and pulling pain in the lower abdomen and genital region. Non-toxic. It treats frightful qi entering the abdomen, periumbilical abdominal pain, cold swelling of the genitals, facilitates conception, and stops excessive purulent discharge from sores preventing them from drying. Cuttlefish meat, neutral in nature, treats tonifying Qi and strengthening willpower. It grows in the East Sea. It can be harvested at any time. (Incompatible with Ampelopsis Radix [Bailian], Bletilla Rhizome [Baiji], and Aconitum Lateralis Radix Praeparata [Fuzi].)
