论曰小儿木舌者，以心气蕴热，热气随脉，上至于舌，则血脉胀起，渐渐肿大。满口塞
喉，若不急治，便致危殆，经云，蓄则肿热，砭射之也。先宜砭射，后以药治之。
治小儿木舌肿胀，满塞口中。三物备急丸方
大黄（锉炒） 巴豆（去心皮研） 干姜（炮各等分）
上三味，捣研为末，炼蜜为丸。如绿豆大，每服五丸，温水下，大便利为度。
治小儿木舌。紫雪散方
紫雪（细研一分） 竹沥
上二味，每用紫雪一字。竹沥少许调服，一日四五服。
治小儿木舌。方
衣中白鱼（五枚） 朴硝（研一分） 盐（半钱）
上三味，捣研为细末，每用少许，敷舌上。
治小儿木舌长大。鲤鱼贴方
鲤鱼（一枚去骨切肉作片）
上一味，将鱼肉贴于舌上，以线系定。
治小儿木舌长大。硼砂散方
硼砂（研） 甘草（炙各半两） 白芷（二钱） 白药子（二两） 蒲黄（一两）
上五味，捣研为散，每服半钱匕。薄荷煎汤，入蜜少许，调下，食后服。三岁以上，每
服一钱匕。
治小儿木舌，日渐长大，满塞口中。人参散方
人参（一两） 白茯苓（去黑皮二两） 甘草（炙一两） 白药子（二两） 白术（一
两） 槐花 白芷（各半两）
上七味，捣罗为散，用薄荷汁调如糊，涂舌上。咽下不妨，不拘时用，如患重舌，亦可
服。
论述说：小儿木舌病，是因为心气蕴积热邪，热气随着经脉上行至舌部，导致血脉胀起，逐渐肿大。肿胀满塞口腔甚至咽喉，如果不紧急治疗，就会危及生命。医经中说：“蓄积则肿痛发热，需用砭石刺破出血来治疗。”所以先宜用砭石刺破放血，然后再用药治疗。
治疗小儿木舌肿胀，满塞口中的方剂：三物备急丸方
大黄（切碎炒制） 巴豆（去除心皮后研磨） 干姜（炮制，以上三味药各等分）
将上述三味药，捣碎研成细末，用炼蜜制成丸药。大小如绿豆，每次服用五丸，温水送服，以大便通畅为度。
治疗小儿木舌的方剂：紫雪散方
紫雪（细研，一分） 竹沥
以上两味药，每次取紫雪“一字”量，用少许竹沥调匀服用，一日服用四五次。
治疗小儿木舌的方剂：
衣中白鱼（五枚） 朴硝（细研，一分） 盐（半钱）
将上述三味药，捣碎研成细末，每次取少许，敷在舌上。
治疗小儿木舌长大的方剂：鲤鱼贴方
鲤鱼（一条，去骨，切肉成片）
将上述一味药，把鱼肉贴在舌上，用线系固定。
治疗小儿木舌长大的方剂：硼砂散方
硼砂（研磨） 甘草（炙制，各半两） 白芷（二钱） 白药子（二两） 蒲黄（一两）
将上述五味药，捣碎研成散剂，每次服用半钱匕。用薄荷煎汤，加入少许蜂蜜，调匀服用，饭后服用。三岁以上儿童，每次服用一钱匕。

Commentary states: Pediatric "wooden tongue" (Mu She) arises from heat pathogen accumulating in the Heart Qi. The heat travels along the meridians upward to the tongue, causing blood vessels to swell and gradually enlarge. The swelling fills the mouth and obstructs the throat; if not treated urgently, it becomes critical. As stated in the classics: "Accumulation leads to swelling, heat, and pain; treat by pricking with a bi stone to bleed." Therefore, one should first use bi stone therapy (pricking to bleed), followed by herbal treatment.
Formula for treating pediatric wooden tongue with swelling filling the mouth: Sanwu Beiji Wan (Three-Ingredient Emergency Preparatory Pill)
Da Huang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome, cut and stir-fried) Ba Dou (Croton Seed, remove heart and skin, grind) Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger, processed, all ingredients in equal proportions)
Grind the above three herbs into fine powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of mung beans. Take five pills per dose, washed down with warm water, until bowel movements become unobstructed.
Formula for treating pediatric wooden tongue: Zixue San (Purple Snow Powder)
Zixue (Zi Xue, finely ground, 1 fen) Zhu Li (Bamboo Sap)
For each dose, take an amount of Zixue equivalent to "one character" (a traditional small measure), mixed with a small amount of Bamboo Sap, taken orally. Administer four to five times daily.
Formula for treating pediatric wooden tongue:
Yizhong Baiyu (Silverfish found in clothes, five pieces) Piao Xiao (Mirabilite, finely ground, 1 fen) Yan (Salt, half qian)
Grind the above three herbs into fine powder. Apply a small amount directly onto the tongue per dose.
Formula for treating progressive enlargement of pediatric wooden tongue: Liyu Tie (Carp Paste Application)
Li Yu (Common Carp, one fish, deboned, meat sliced)
Apply the carp meat slices onto the tongue and secure them with thread.
Formula for treating progressive enlargement of pediatric wooden tongue: Pengsha San (Borax Powder)
Peng Sha (Borax, ground) Gan Cao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, half liang each) Bai Zhi (Angelica Dahurica Root, two qian) Bai Yao Zi (Stemona Root, two liang) Pu Huang (Typha Pollen, one liang)
Grind the above five herbs into a powder. Take half a qian-bi (spoonful measure) per dose. Decoct Bo He (Mint) in water, add a little honey, mix well, and take after meals. For children over three years old, take one qian-bi per dose.
Formula for treating pediatric wooden tongue that progressively enlarges and fills the mouth: Renshen San (Ginseng Powder)
Ren Shen (Ginseng Root, one liang) Bai Fu Ling (Poria, remove black skin, two liang) Gan Cao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, one liang) Bai Yao Zi (Stemona Root, two liang) Bai Zhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, one liang) Huai Hua (Sophora Flower) Bai Zhi (Angelica Dahurica Root, half liang each)
Grind and sieve the above seven herbs into a powder. Mix with Bo He juice (Mint Juice) to form a paste, and apply to the tongue. It is safe to swallow; there are no specific timing restrictions. This formula may also be used for cases of Chong She (Double Tongue).
