Discussion states: Various types of stranguria (Lin syndrome, characterized by painful and frequent urination) in children are caused by Kidney deficiency combined with Heat in the Bladder. The Bladder and Kidney are exterior-interiorly related and jointly govern water metabolism; water enters the Small Intestine, descends to the Bao (Uterus/Bladder), circulates through the Yin region, and forms urine. Kidney Qi connects to the Yin region, which is the pathway for the downward flow of body fluids. If breastfeeding or dieting is irregular, or if crying from grief is unceasing, leading to an imbalance of Deficiency and Excess, the Zang-Fu organs become disharmonious, resulting in Kidney deficiency and Heat in the Bladder. The Bladder is the mansion of body fluids; when Heat is present, body fluids overflow internally, and the water passages become obstructed. Water cannot stop or descend normally, stagnating and accumulating in the Bao. Kidney deficiency causes frequent urination, while Bladder Heat causes scanty urine output. The combination of frequency and astringency leads to dribbling and incomplete voiding, hence it is called "Stranguria." Furthermore, there are Heat Stranguria, Blood Stranguria, Qi Stranguria, Stone Stranguria, and Cold Stranguria. If the San Jiao (Triple Burner) is congested and excess Heat transfers to the Bladder, causing dark red urine, it is termed Heat Stranguria. When Heat is severe and clashes with the blood vessels, flowing into the Bao and causing hematuria, it is termed Blood Stranguria. When the lower abdomen is full, urination is astringent with residual drops, it is termed Qi Stranguria. When sand or stones are passed, it is termed Stone Stranguria. Cold Stranguria originates from Cold pathogens lodging in the Lower Jiao, whereas other types primarily stem from Heat in the Bladder, causing acute pain in the lower abdomen and obstruction of water passages, resulting in frequent urges but inability to void.
