Discussion on the manifestations of Heart Wind. It is characterized by excessive sweating, aversion to wind, irritability, and a tendency toward anger and fright. The complexion is red. In severe cases, speech is impaired. Diagnosis focuses on the mouth, where the color appears red. When the Heart is invaded by Wind pathogen, exuberant Wind generates Heat; excessive Heat leads to unceasing sweating, as sweat is the fluid of the Heart. Excessive sweating causes the interstices (pores) to become loose; when loose, healthy Qi and pathogenic factors contend, resulting in aversion to wind. Furthermore, the Heart dislikes Heat; extreme Heat causes dry lips, internal restlessness, and irritability. The voice of the Heart manifests as speech; in severe disease, speech becomes unclear because Heart Qi connects with the tongue. Additionally, this syndrome involves stiffness and tension in the chest and back, making it difficult to tilt or turn the body, accompanied by a red face, headache, fever, and inability to lie down peacefully. Since the Heart governs Blood, if Wind pathogen persists for a long time, it travels with Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) Qi, contending internally and externally, accumulating to form this condition.
For treatment due to fright, where evil Wind enters the Pericardium, possibly accompanied by chest and back oppression and pain, fright, slight lower abdominal pain, alternating chills and fever, mental restlessness, and complexions changing to green, yellow, red, or white mixed colors. This formula also treats various diseases such as deficiency consumptive disorders, fright, and Wind pathogens. Ginseng Decoction: Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Zhi Gan Cao (Honey-fried Licorice Root), Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba, roots and joints removed, boiled to remove foam, then dried), Du Huo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, sliced and dried), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus, coarse bark removed) each 1 liang, Hei Xin Shao Yao (Black-hearted Peony Root), Chi Shao Yao (Red Peony Root) each 1 liang. The above seventeen ingredients are chopped like hemp seeds. Each dose consists of 3 qian bi (approx. 9-10g), boiled in 1 sheng (approx. 200ml) of water until reduced to 7 fen (approx. 140ml). The eight ingredients requiring separate grinding are ground together until "duan xing" (no granular texture remains).
