Discussion states: The *Neijing* (Inner Canon) mentions that when the body is at ease but the mind is distressed, diseases arise in the blood vessels, and the treatment is suitable for moxibustion and acupuncture. This text provides only a general overview of these methods. However, the Nine Needles (nine types of ancient needles with different shapes and uses) originally came from the South, and moxibustion originally came from the North. By "South" and "North," it refers to regions of intense heat and cold, respectively. Human qi and blood become stagnant and sluggish in the pulse when cold, and flow smoothly and lubricated when hot; both conditions constitute diseases of the blood vessels. Therefore, treatment with moxibustion and acupuncture is appropriate. The principles of using needles have been detailed previously; the principle of using moxibustion is simply to warm the body. If a disease is caused by cold, or if it is a Yin syndrome characterized by cold, or if it involves Bi syndrome due to wind-cold-dampness, beriberi, or jue-ni (reversal) disorders due to excess above and deficiency below, as well as labor injuries, carbuncles and sores, women's qi and blood disorders, and infantile malnutrition diseases, moxibustion can be used. There are also cases where moxibustion is contraindicated: acupoints near the spinal cord and Yang syndromes should not be treated with moxibustion. Moxibustion has tonifying and reducing methods. For tonification with fire, do not blow on the fire; allow it to extinguish naturally. For reduction with fire, blow quickly to make it extinguish rapidly. This constitutes the tonifying and reducing techniques of moxibustion, which should be applied according to one's judgment of the condition.

For sudden stroke with facial deviation: Take a reed tube 5 cun long. Insert one end into the affected ear canal. Seal the edges with dough to prevent air leakage. Place a soybean and moxa cone at the other end and ignite. After 7 cones, the condition resolves. Treat the opposite side for left/right lesions. This method also applies to ear diseases.
For wind-dizziness causing mental instability: Measure the width of the mouth horizontally from corner to corner. Use this string to measure the distance between the nostrils. Fold this measurement in half, then fold again to get a quarter length. Find the whorl of hair on the vertex. Moxa at the whorl. Measure from this point to the four directions (left, right, front, back) using the string and moxa at the ends. Face forward. Dosage depends on age.
