Discourse states: Regarding scorpion stings, there is a distinction between male and female scorpions. A sting from a male scorpion causes pain localized to one area, whereas a sting from a female scorpion causes the toxin to disperse, with no fixed location for the pain. Although various methods of incantations and spells are transmitted in the world, decoctions for hot compresses and topical applications cannot be discarded.
Formula for Blowing Powder (Chuibi San) to Treat Scorpion Stings:
Lilu (Veratrum Rhizoma, cleaned of rhizome head), Zhuya Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus, fried with lard oil and skin removed), Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos), Shuhuihua Rui (Malvae Flower Stamen), Bibo (Piperis Kadsurae Fructus) (each half liang).
The above five ingredients are pounded, sifted, and made into powder. Each time, use an amount equivalent to "one character" (a small measure). If stung on the left side, blow the powder into the right nostril; if stung on the right side, blow it into the left nostril.
Formula for Hot Compress Pills (Yitong Wan) to Treat Scorpion Stings:
Xionghuang (Realgar, ground), Fanshi (Alumen, boiled until juice is dry) (each half liang).
The above two ingredients are further ground together, mixed with melted wax, and formed into pills the size of a bullet while warm. Store them in wax paper. When a sting occurs, heat the pill over fire and apply a hot compress to the painful area while warm. Reheat when cool and repeat the compress several times.
Formula for Topical Application of Aconite (Wutou Tufu Fang) to Treat Pain from Scorpion Stings:
Wutou (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, skin and navel not removed).
The above single ingredient is ground into a fine powder. Take a small amount each time, mix with saliva, and apply topically to the affected area.
Formula for Topical Application of Purslane (Machixian Tufu Fang) to Treat Scorpion Stings:
Machixian (Portulacae Herba, fresh and chopped), Dasuan (Allii Sativi Bulbus, fresh and chopped; these two ingredients, each half liang, are ground finely together), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, one fen, unprocessed and powdered).
The above three ingredients are mixed evenly and applied topically to the stung area.
Formula for Pain-Relieving and Toxin-Expelling Powder (Zhengtong Chudu San) to Treat Scorpion Stings:
Shiliuhua (Granati Pericarpium Flos), Aiye Xin (Artemisiae Argyi Folium, heart of the leaf), Shuhuihua (Malvae Flos) (equal parts).
The above three ingredients are pounded, sifted, and made into powder. Mix with water and apply topically.
Formula for Topical Application of Lead Carbonate (Qiandan Tufu Fang) to Treat Indeterminate Pain from Scorpion Stings:
Qiandan (Lithii Carbonas, half liang).
The above single ingredient is finely ground, mixed with vinegar, and applied topically to the stung area.
Formula for Washing with Water to Treat Sudden Severe Pain from Scorpion Stings or Contact with Medicinal Powder:
Xinji Lengshui (Freshly drawn cold water).
The above single ingredient: If hands or feet are stung, soak them in cold water. Replace the water as soon as it becomes slightly warm.
Another Formula:
Bibo (Piperis Kadsurae Fructus), Nifen (Calomel), Ruiren (Pruni Semen), Mubiezi (Strychni Semen). (Equal parts).
The above four ingredients should be taken at noon on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, facing south. Pound, sift, and make into a fine powder. During preparation, ensure that women or mourners do not see the process. If stung on the right side, apply a small amount of the powder to the left eye; if stung on the left side, apply it to the right eye.
Another Formula:
Canger (Xanthii Fructus, collected at noon on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month, dried in the shade).
The above single ingredient is pounded, sifted, and made into a fine powder. Each time, mix with vinegar and apply topically.
Another Formula:
Hutougu (Tigris Ossis Corneum, roasted), Banlanzi (Fructus Isatidis), Bibo (Piperis Kadsurae Fructus) (each one fen).
The above three ingredients should be processed at noon on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. Pound, sift, and make into a fine powder. Use a rush light (Jiedixin) to dip a small amount of the powder and apply it to the outer canthus of the eye. For males, apply to the left eye; for females, to the right eye. This is highly effective. In cases of sudden acute onset, there is no need to restrict preparation to the Double Fifth Day (May 5th).
