It is stated that within the human body exist the Three Corpses (San Shi) and various parasites, born simultaneously with the person. They often abhor goodness and favor evil, can communicate with spirits, and each time attract external pathogenic factors to harm the individual. This is referred to as Corpse Disease (Shi Bing). Its manifestations include a depressed and silent demeanor, uncertainty regarding specific sources of suffering, yet discomfort pervades the entire body. Symptoms may include abdominal pain and distension, protruding masses, spasms pulling on the waist and spine, or mental confusion, with varied and inconsistent forms. There are Flying Corpses (Fei Shi), Hidden Corpses (Fu Shi), and variations such as Escaping Corpses (Dun Shi), Sinking Corpses (Chen Shi), and Wind Corpses (Feng Shi). If left untreated for a long time, stagnation occurs; after death, it may transmit to others, resulting in Corpse Transmission Disease (Shi Zhu).
It is stated that although diseases caused by various Corpses are diverse, the most severe involve only five types. Those that strike rapidly like flying creatures are named Flying Corpses (Fei Shi); those that remain hidden and do not dissipate are called Escaping Corpses (Dun Shi); those deeply entrenched in the Zang-Fu organs are termed Sinking Corpses (Chen Shi); those triggered by wind exposure are known as Wind Corpses (Feng Shi); and those lying latent for years without elimination are designated as Hidden Corpses (Fu Shi). The Qi of these five Corpses manifests in numerous ways, each distinct, generally causing depression, silence, and wandering pain without fixed location. Beyond these five, there exists Corpse Qi; although presenting different syndromes, their pathological nature is largely similar with minor differences, and treatment methods can be unified under a single approach.
