Discussion states: Wind-water infection in metal weapon injuries (Jinchuang, traumatic wounds caused by sharp metal instruments) is caused by inadequate sealing and wrapping of the wound. The manifestation of wind invasion is that the wound suddenly stops discharging fluid; the manifestation of water toxin invasion is the discharge of bluish-yellow fluid, accompanied by pain attacks, muscle swelling and induration, and impending spasm. Urgent treatment is required. Whenever spasm occurs, characterized by oral tightness, dorsal rigidity, head shaking with sounds resembling a horse's neigh, opisthotonos (backward bending of the body like a bow), recurrent episodes, breathlessness as if severed, and profuse sweating like rain, treatment must not be delayed; delay renders it incurable.
To treat metal weapon injuries, repel wind and water toxins, reconnect bones and tendons, stop bleeding and relieve pain. Baxian San (Eight Immortals Powder) Formula:
Fenghua Shidian (Weathered Iron Oxide Stone, 10 liang), Dixun Miao (Herba Isatidis Fresh Leaves, cut and ground, 0.5 liang), Xixin (Radix Asari, remove roots and leaves), Xuanfu Gen (Rhizoma Inulae, cut and ground), Xin Ge Ye (Fresh Foliage of Pueraria lobata).
Of the above eight ingredients, excluding Fenghua Shidian and Zhu Gao (Pig Fat), grind the remaining six ingredients finely, extract their juice, mix with Fenghua Shidian and Zhu Gao, knead into cakes, dry in the sun, grind into powder, sieve again to achieve a fine powder consistency. Apply to the wound to stop bleeding, relieve pain, and promote tissue regeneration. Prepare on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.
To treat old fractures and sprains where sudden disharmony of wind and qi causes unbearable pain at the old injury site. Shu Gan Dihuang Wan (Prepared Rehmannia Pill) Formula:
Shu Gan Dihuang Huang (Prepared Radix Rehmanniae, dried by baking, 4 liang), Xingren (Semen Pruni Armeniacae, blanched, skin and tip removed, split kernels fried and separately ground), Niuxi (Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae, remove roots, wine-soaked, dried, 1.5 liang each), Kushen (Radix Sophorae Flavescentis, 1 liang), Guizhi (Ramulus Cinnamomi, remove coarse bark, 1 liang).
Of the above twelve ingredients, excluding Xingren, grind finely through a silk sieve. Add Xingren, grind separately, and mix uniformly. Combine with refined honey, pound three thousand times, and form pills the size of tung tree seeds. Take 20-30 pills orally with warm wine on an empty stomach.
To stop bleeding in metal weapon injuries. Heisan Zi (Black Powder) Formula:
Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, 3.5 liang, soaked in urine of a young boy for three days, wrapped in paper and baked), Badou (Semen Crotonis Tiglii, 1.5 liang, soaked in grain wash water for seven days, fried until yellow), Banliang Qian (Half-Tael Coin, processed).
Grind the four ingredients into a fine powder. Apply according to the size of the injury; pain stops immediately, leaving no scars. It is highly effective for extracting arrowheads and stopping bleeding. For women with severe blood stasis, administer one "zi" (a small measure) mixed with warm wine.
To treat wind invasion in metal weapon injuries and tetanus (Po Shang Feng). Jifeng San (Urgent Wind Powder) Formula:
Caowutou (Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii, 3 liang; half fried to charcoal but retaining nature, dipped in vinegar when cool; the other half cut raw), Shengheidou (Fresh Glycine Max Seed, 1 fen, combined with Caowutou).
Grind the four ingredients uniformly. If extracting an arrowhead, first take half a qian mixed with one cup of wine, then apply the medicine to the arrow wound. For tetanus, take half a qian mixed with one cup of wine.
To treat opisthotonos caused by wind invasion in metal weapon injuries. Jieshibai Doulun Jiu (Chicken Dropping White and Soybean Wine Infusion) Formula:
Jieshibai (White part of Chicken Droppings, 1 he), Dadou (Soybeans, 6 he).
Fry the soybeans until charred black, then add Jieshibai and fry together. Pour hot mixture into three sheng of wine, cover tightly, let stand for a long time, filter dregs. Take 5 he per dose. After walking about five li, take another dose. Sweating is desirable. If not cured, prepare and take again. Stop when sweating occurs. Eat hot ginger thin porridge after taking the medicine to assist sweating.
To treat opisthotonos in metal weapon injuries with wind invasion. Tu Feng Fang (External Application and Sealing Formula):
Shengjizi (Raw Chicken Egg, 1 piece), Wuma You (Black Sesame Oil, 3 liang).
Break the egg, mix with sesame oil, simmer until slightly thickened, cool, then apply to the wound and seal.
For fractures and various swellings from trauma, strictly avoid wind, dampness, and cold. Injury by wind-dampness may cause spasm, trismus, and death. If wind invasion is suspected with neck stiffness and body rigidity, use Qianghuo Yin (Notopterygium Decoction):
Qianghuo (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii, remove rhizome head, 1 liang), Zhuli (Bamboo Juice, 3 zhan).
Coarsely crush Qianghuo, decoct with Zhuli until volume reduces by half, filter dregs, divide into three warm doses. If trismus occurs, pry open mouth and pour in. To make bamboo juice: cut ten-plus fresh bamboo stalks into 1.5 chi segments, roast the center over fire to express juice from both ends, or burn bundles to collect juice. This serves as an emergency remedy with immediate effect. Can be taken 5-6 times daily.
To treat spasm from wind invasion in metal weapon injuries. Jinjiu Fang (Wine Infusion Formula):
Jieshibai (Chicken Dropping White, 3 sheng, fried yellow).
Place in a raw silk bag, put in a porcelain jar, add six sheng of wine, simmer over low heat for half a day, filter dregs. Take 5 he warm, three times daily and once at night. Additionally, take root of Scopolia (Langdang Gen), form into cakes, place on the wound, apply heat until yellow fluid exudes, indicating cure.
To treat wind invasion in metal weapon injuries. Bixiao Jiu (Highly Effective Wine) Formula:
Suan (Garlic, peeled core top, 1 sheng).
Decoct garlic in four sheng of clear wine until very soft. Take 5 he including dregs in one go.
For metal weapon injuries or crushing wounds where wind enters causing closed mouth, trismus, and severe stiffness. Suitable Wine Infusion Formula:
Queshi (Bird Droppings, fried and ground, 0.5 he).
Decoct in seven he of wine until reduced to five he, filter dregs, drink warm in one dose. Abdominal movement indicates cure. If unable to open mouth, pry open and pour in.
To treat opisthotonos from wind invasion in metal weapon injuries. Xingren Jiu Mo (Almond Wine Massage Formula):
Xingren (Apricot Kernels, crushed, raw, unpeeled, 3 jin).
Steam, grind extremely fine, add three sheng of wine, extract juice. Take 5 he, twice daily and once at night. Avoid external wind to recover. Also massage almond wine juice onto the wound.
To treat deep cuts exposing bone with trismus from wind invasion. Doulin Jiu (Soybean Drip Wine) Formula:
Dadou (Soybeans, stir-fried to remove raw smell, half-cooked, 5 sheng).
Coarsely crush, steam, pour into basin, drip with fifteen sheng of wine, filter dregs. Take 5-7 he warm, twice daily and once at night. Cover to induce slight sweating. Separately prepare raw almond paste and apply to wound. If brain matter protrudes, prognosis is poor.
For crushing injuries complicated by wind invasion in wounds. Sumu Jiu (Sappanwood Wine) Formula:
Sumu (Lignum Sappan, crushed, 2 liang).
Decoct in two sheng of wine to obtain one sheng. Divide into three doses: empty stomach, noon, and bedtime.

Make dough wrappers based on wound size, bake in ashes until cooked. Poke a hole while hot, apply to wound to draw out wind. Make dozens, rotate usage, replace when cool.
To treat inability to speak due to trismus from wind invasion in metal weapon injuries. Moxibustion Method:
Manjingzi (Fructus Viticis Negundo, washed clean, 1 sheng).
Grind thoroughly, shape into moxa cones. Apply 2-3 cones directly on the wound. Cure when heat penetrates.
To treat spasms and opisthotonos from wind invasion in metal weapon injuries. Langdang Gen Tu (Scopolia Root External Application) Formula:
Langdang Gen (Root of Hyoscyamus/Langdang).
Cut root flat to fit wound size; bundle several if large. Mix one he of pig fat with salt the size of an egg yolk, cook into ointment. Dip flat side of root in ointment, apply warm to wound, replace when cool. Stop when cured. Avoid external wind.
