论曰心者精之合神之舍也，心气不足，精神衰弱，邪气乘虚而感，则为鬼魅，其状令人
喜怒不常，情思如醉，或狂言惊怖，向壁悲啼，梦寐多魇，与鬼交通，病苦乍寒乍热，腹满
短气，不能食，诊其脉人迎气口，乍大乍小，乃鬼魅所持之候也。
治感鬼魅邪气，惊怖悲啼，休作有时，九精丸方

玄参
上九味，捣研为末，炼蜜丸如小豆大，每服一丸，食前温酒下，日三，以知为度。
治邪气鬼魅所持，妄言狂走，恍惚不识人，煞鬼五邪丸方
丹砂（研） 雄黄（研） 龙骨 鬼臼（去毛炙） 鬼箭羽（去茎各二两半） 赤小豆

上八味，除研者外，捣罗为细末，入雄黄丹砂，再研拌匀，熔蜡和丸，如弹子大，囊盛
之，男左女右，系于臂上，小儿系于头上，合药时，勿令妇人鸡犬见，亦可用蜜和为丸，梧
桐子大，每服一丸，米饮下，日三。
治邪气鬼魅，脉见人迎气口，时大时小，黄环丸方

上九味为细末，酒煮面糊和丸，如绿豆大，鸡鸣及日中时，用温麝香酒，下十丸，稍加
至二十丸，以知为度。
治鬼魅，四物鸢头散方
东海鸢头汤洗七遍焙干由跋是也 莨菪炒 金牙石研 防葵（炒各一两）
上四味，捣罗为细散，每服一钱匕，温酒调下。
治妖魅，病患不言鬼方
鹿角（镑屑）
上一味，捣罗为细散，水服方寸匕，自言则瘥。
治精魅感着，语言狂乱，悲怖不常，不饮食方。
水银（一两）
上一味，入浆水一盏，炭火上煎取三分，去火取水银，如豌豆大，空腹温水下三丸，晚
再服一丸，日三。
辟鬼魅方
虎爪（烧二两） 丹砂（研细） 雄黄（研细） 蟹爪（烧各一两）
上四味，除研者外，捣罗为细末，再入研者拌匀，熔蜡为丸，如梧桐子大，每至正旦，
及有狐魅处焚之，甚效，以熏巫人即神去。
治鬼迷不寤方
雄黄（研如粉）
上一味，吹入病患两鼻中，瘥。
辟诸邪祟附着，及小儿惊哭恐悸方。
安息香
上一味，取一皂子大，焚烧令烟起，邪自去。
论述说：心是精神汇聚之处，也是神志的居所。如果心气不足，导致精神衰弱，邪气就会趁虚而入，从而引发鬼魅之病。其症状表现为病人喜怒无常，神情恍惚如同醉酒，或者胡言乱语、惊恐害怕，对着墙壁悲伤哭泣，睡眠中多梦魇，感觉与鬼神交通。病人痛苦于忽冷忽热，腹部胀满，呼吸短促，不能进食。诊察其脉象，在人迎穴和气口穴处，脉搏忽大忽小，这是被鬼魅所附着的脉候。
治疗感受鬼魅邪气，出现惊恐悲啼，发作有定时，用九精丸方：
牛黄（研碎） 荆实 曾青（研碎） 玉屑（研碎） 雄黄（研碎） 空青（研碎） 赤石脂（研碎）
玄参
以上九味药，捣碎研细为末，用炼蜜制成如小豆大小的丸剂，每次服用一丸，饭前用温酒送服，每日三次，以见效为度。
治疗邪气鬼魅附着，胡言乱语、狂跑，神志恍惚不认识人，用煞鬼五邪丸方：
丹砂（研碎） 雄黄（研碎） 龙骨 鬼臼（去毛后炙烤） 鬼箭羽（去茎，各二两半） 赤小豆（一两半）
以上八味药，除需要研碎的药材外，其余捣碎过筛成细末，加入雄黄和丹砂，再次研磨拌匀，用熔化的蜡调和成丸，如弹子大小，装入袋中保存。男性系在左臂，女性系在右臂，小儿系在头上。配制药物时，不要让妇女和鸡犬看见。也可以用蜂蜜调和成丸，如梧桐子大小，每次服用一丸，米汤送服，每日三次。
治疗邪气鬼魅，脉象在人迎和气口处，时而大时而小，用黄环丸方：
黄环（五两） 琥珀（研碎三两） 丹砂（研碎） 生银（用水磨细） 龙胆（各二两） 白颈蚯蚓（微炒）
以上九味药制成细末，用酒煮面糊调和成丸，如绿豆大小。在鸡鸣时分及中午时，用温麝香酒送服十丸，逐渐增加到二十丸，以见效为度。
治疗鬼魅，用四物鸢头散方：
东海鸢头（即由跋，经汤洗七遍后焙干） 莨菪（炒制） 金牙石（研碎） 防葵（炒制，各一两）
以上四味药，捣碎过筛成细散，每次服用一钱匕，用温酒调服。
治疗妖魅，患者不言语的方子：
鹿角（镑成屑）
以上一味药，捣碎过筛成细散，用水送服一方寸匕，患者能自己说话则病愈。
治疗精魅感着，语言狂乱，悲伤恐惧无常，不饮食的方子：
水银（一两）
以上一味药，放入一盏浆水中，在炭火上煎取三分之一的量，离火后取水银，制成如豌豆大小的丸剂，空腹时用温水送服三丸，晚上再服一丸，每日三次。
辟除鬼魅的方子：
虎爪（烧制二两） 丹砂（研细） 雄黄（研细） 蟹爪（烧制，各一两）
以上四味药，除需研碎的药材外，其余捣碎过筛成细末，再加入已研碎的药材拌匀，用熔化的蜡制成丸，如梧桐子大小。每逢正月初一，或在有狐魅的地方焚烧此药，效果很好，用来熏巫师即可使神灵离去。
Commentary states: The Heart is the convergence of essence and the residence of the spirit (Shen). If Heart Qi is deficient, leading to weakness of spirit and vitality, pathogenic factors may take advantage of the deficiency to invade, resulting in diseases attributed to ghosts or malevolent spirits. The manifestations include erratic mood swings, a delirious state resembling drunkenness, or incoherent speech accompanied by fear and terror, weeping towards walls, frequent nightmares, and a sensation of intercourse with spirits. Patients suffer from alternating chills and fever, abdominal distension, shortness of breath, and anorexia. Palpation at the Renying (ST9) and Qikou (LU9) pulse positions reveals pulses that fluctuate between large and small; this is the pulse pattern indicative of possession by ghosts or malevolent spirits.
For treating infections by ghost/malevolent spirit pathogens, characterized by sudden fright, weeping, and periodic exacerbations, use the Jiujing Wan (Nine Essences Pill) formula:
Calcined Bovine Calculus (Niuhuang, ground) Xanthium Fructus (Jingshi) Azurite (Cengqing, ground) Jade Fragments (Yuxie, ground) Realgar (Xionghuang, ground) Azurite with Malachite (Kongqing, ground) Red Halloysite (Chishizhi, ground)
Scrophularia Root (Xuanshen)
The above nine ingredients are crushed, ground into powder, and mixed with refined honey to form pills the size of small beans. Take one pill before meals, washed down with warm wine, three times daily. Discontinue when efficacy is achieved.
For treating pathogenic factors and malevolent spirits causing incoherent speech, manic running, and confusion with inability to recognize people, use the Shagui Wuxie Wan (Five Evils Ghost-Slaying Pill) formula:
Cinnabar (Dansha, ground) Realgar (Xionghuang, ground) Fossilized Bone (Longgu) Aconitum Lateralis Radix Preparata (Guibai, de-hair and roasted) Aralia Chinensis Stem (Guijianyu, stems removed, 2.5 liang each) Adzuki Bean (Chixiaodou, 1.5 liang)
The above eight ingredients, excluding those requiring grinding, are crushed and sieved into fine powder. Add the ground Realgar and Cinnabar, grind again to ensure uniform mixing, and blend with melted beeswax to form pills the size of bullet shots. Store in bags. Males tie it on the left arm, females on the right arm, and children on the head. During preparation, ensure no women, chickens, or dogs witness the process. Alternatively, mix with honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take one pill per dose, washed down with rice water, three times daily.
For treating pathogenic factors and malevolent spirits where the pulse at Renying and Qikou fluctuates intermittently, use the Huanghuan Wan (Yellow Ring Pill) formula:
Huanhuan (Wu liang) Amber (Hupo, ground, 3 liang) Cinnabar (Dansha, ground) Native Silver (Shengyin, finely ground with water) Gentian Root (Longdan, 2 liang each) Earthworm (Baijing Qiuyin, lightly roasted)
The above nine ingredients are processed into fine powder. Boil wheat paste in wine to bind the powder into pills the size of mung beans. At cockcrow and noon, take ten pills washed down with warm musk-infused wine, gradually increasing to twenty pills, until efficacy is achieved.
For treating ghostly influences, use the Siwu Yuantou San (Four-Ingredient Kitehead Powder) formula:
East Sea Kitehead (Donghai Yuantou, i.e., Youba, washed seven times with decoction, then dried and roasted) Datura Seed (Langdang, roasted) Aurichalcum Ore (Jinyashi, ground) Conium Root (Fang Kui, roasted, 1 liang each)
The above four ingredients are crushed and sieved into fine powder. Take one qianbi (a spoonful measure) per dose, mixed with warm wine for administration.
For treating demonic influences where the patient refuses to speak, use the following prescription:
Deer Antler Lu Jiao (Lu jiao, shaved into flakes)
The single ingredient is crushed and sieved into fine powder. Administer one fangcunbi (a square-inch spoonful) with water. Recovery occurs when the patient begins to speak spontaneously.
For treating infestation by spirit essences, manifesting as delirious speech, constant fear and sorrow, and refusal to eat or drink, use the following prescription:
Mercury (Shuiyin, 1 liang)
Place the single ingredient in one zhan (unit of volume) of grain wash water. Simmer over charcoal fire until reduced to one-third. Remove from heat, extract the mercury, and form pills the size of pea seeds. Take three pills on an empty stomach with warm water, and one pill in the evening, three times daily.
Prescription to ward off ghosts and malevolent spirits:
Tiger Claws (Hu zhao, burnt, 2 liang) Cinnabar (Dansha, finely ground) Realgar (Xionghuang, finely ground) Crab Claws (Xie zhao, burnt, 1 liang each)
The above four ingredients, excluding those to be ground, are crushed and sieved into fine powder. Mix thoroughly with the pre-ground ingredients. Bind with melted beeswax to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Burn these pills on New Year's Day or in areas infested by fox spirits for high efficacy. Burning them to fumigate shamans causes the spirits to depart.
Treatment for coma induced by ghost bewitchment:
Realgar (Xionghuang, ground into powder)
The single ingredient is insufflated into both nostrils of the patient. Recovery ensues.
Prescription to ward off various evil influences and treat infantile fright, crying, and palpitations:
Benzoin Resin (Anxi Xiang)
Take a piece the size of a soap bean, burn it until smoke rises. The pathogenic factors will naturally dissipate.
