味咸，温，无毒。主杀鬼虫，邪疰毒瓦斯，下部 疮，伤寒寒热，吐胸中痰癖，止心腹
痛，坚肌骨，多食伤肺喜咳。《药性论》云∶有小毒。能杀一切毒瓦斯，鬼疰气，主心痛中
主鬼疰尸疰，下部蚀疮。日华子云∶暖水脏及霍乱，金疮，明目，止风泪，邪气，一切虫
肿毒，消食，滋五味，长肉补皮肤，通大小便，小儿疝气并内肾气。一云∶治胸心痰饮，
寒热病，瘴疟。又治齿龈宣露，妊娠心腹疼痛。

，除邪鬼，产乳，金疮，除时气头痛身热，三焦大热，皮肤热，肠胃中隔气，解肌发汗，止
消渴烦逆，腹胀暴气喘息。《药性论》云∶使。治伤寒头痛如裂，壮热，皮如火燥，解肌，
出毒汗。主通胃中结，烦闷，心下急，烦躁，治口唇干焦，和葱煎茶去头痛。萧炳云∶臣。
日华子云∶治天行狂热，下乳，头风旋，心烦躁，揩齿益齿。鸡子为之使。恶∶莽草、马目
毒公、巴豆。畏∶铁。
【食盐】
味道咸，性温，无毒。主要功效是杀灭鬼魅虫类、邪疰毒瓦斯（指具有传染性的致病因素）、下部疮疡、伤寒引起的寒热症状，吐出胸中的痰癖（积聚在胸膈的痰饮），停止心腹疼痛，坚固肌肉和骨骼，但多吃会损伤肺部导致容易咳嗽。《药性论》说：有小毒。能杀灭各种毒瓦斯、鬼疰之气，主治心痛中主鬼疰尸疰（指由死人气息或疫气引起的疾病）、下部侵蚀性疮疡。日华子说：温暖水脏（肾）及霍乱，金疮（金属利器造成的创伤），明目，止风泪，驱除邪气，治疗各种虫肿毒，消食，滋养五味（指调和饮食口味），促进肌肉生长并补益皮肤，通利大小便，治疗小儿疝气及内肾气（肾气不足）。另一种说法：治疗胸心痰饮，寒热病，瘴疟。又治疗齿龈宣露（牙龈萎缩暴露牙根），妊娠期间的心腹疼痛。
【水银】
味道辛，性寒，有毒。主要功效是治疗疥癣、痂疡、白秃（头皮白色鳞屑状脱发），杀灭皮肤中的虱子，堕胎，清除热毒。《药性论》说：杀灭金铜毒，能堕胎，主治治疗疥疮等缘生之症，杀虫。日华子说：无毒。治疗天行热疾（流行性热病），催生，排出死胎，治疗恶疮，祛风，安神镇心。镀金后烧成的粉，人如果患风症或大段（严重的风症），用酒送服，并配合肥猪肉及服用铁器可抵御其毒性。畏忌：磁石。
【石膏】
味道辛甘，微寒，无毒。主要功效是治疗中风寒热，心下逆气，惊喘，口干舌焦，呼吸急促，腹部坚硬疼痛，驱除邪鬼，治疗产后乳疾，金疮，去除时气头痛身热，三焦大热，皮肤热，肠胃中隔气，解肌发汗，停止消渴烦逆，腹胀暴气喘息。《药性论》说：为使药。治疗伤寒头痛如裂，壮热，皮肤如火燥，解肌，排出毒汗。主治通利胃中结滞，烦闷，心下急迫，烦躁，治疗口唇干焦，与葱一起煎茶可去除头痛。萧炳说：为臣药。日华子说：治疗天行狂热，下乳，头风旋（头晕目眩），心烦躁，揩齿有益牙齿。鸡子（鸡蛋）为其使药。恶忌：莽草、马目毒公、巴豆。畏忌：铁。
[Shiyan (Salt)]
Salty in taste, warm in nature, non-toxic. Primarily used to kill demons and insects, evil zhu toxins and vapors (infectious pathogenic factors), sores in the lower body, chills and fever caused by Shanghan (Cold Damage), expel phlegm-pi (phlegm accumulation in the chest/diaphragm) from the chest, stop heart and abdominal pain, strengthen muscles and bones. However, excessive consumption damages the lungs and predisposes one to coughing. *Yaoxing Lun* states: It has slight toxicity. It can kill all kinds of toxic vapors and ghost zhu qi (qi of ghosts/epidemic pathogens), primarily treating heart pain associated with ghost zhu or corpse zhu (diseases caused by dead person's breath or epidemic qi), and erosive sores in the lower body. Ri Huazi states: It warms the Water Zang (Kidney) and treats Huoluan (Cholera-like syndrome), Jinchuang (metal weapon injuries), brightens the eyes, stops wind-tearing, dispels evil qi, treats all insect-induced swellings and toxins, aids digestion, nourishes the five flavors (harmonizes dietary tastes), promotes flesh growth and supplements the skin, unblocks large and small bowels, treats pediatric hernia and Neishen Qi (Kidney Qi deficiency). Another account says: It treats chest and heart phlegm-fluids, chills and fever diseases, and Zhangnue (Malarial fevers due to miasma). It also treats gingival recession (gum shrinkage exposing tooth roots) and heart/abdominal pain during pregnancy.
[Shuiyin (Mercury)]
Pungent in taste, cold in nature, toxic. Primarily used for jixuan (scabies/tinea), scaly ulcers, balditio alba (white tinea capitis), killing lice in the skin, inducing abortion, and clearing heat. *Yaoxing Lun* states: It kills gold and copper toxins, induces abortion, and treats various sores and related conditions, killing parasites. Ri Huazi states: Non-toxic. It treats Tianxing Reji (epidemic febrile diseases), induces labor, expels dead fetuses, treats severe sores, dispels wind, calms the spirit and stabilizes the heart. Gold-plated powder, when consumed by people suffering from Fengzheng (wind syndromes) or severe cases, along with fat pork and iron ingestion, can counteract its toxicity. Aversion: Cishi (Magnetite).
[Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum)]
Pungent and sweet in taste, slightly cold in nature, non-toxic. Primarily used for wind-stroke chills and fever, rebellious Qi below the heart, fright and wheezing, dry mouth and scorched tongue, inability to breathe comfortably, hard and painful abdomen, dispelling evil spirits, treating postpartum conditions, Jinchuang (metal weapon injuries), removing Shiqi headache and body heat, Sanjiao (Triple Burner) intense heat, skin heat, stagnant Qi in the intestines and stomach, releasing the muscle layer and inducing sweating, stopping Xiaoke (wasting-thirst) with irritability and rebellion, abdominal distension, sudden Qi, and wheezing. *Yaoxing Lun* states: It acts as a Shi drug (guide/enhancer). It treats Shanghan headache like splitting, high fever, skin feeling hot and dry like fire, releases the muscle layer, and expels toxic sweat. It primarily unblocks gastric stagnation, relieves oppression and irritability, urgent discomfort below the heart, restlessness, treats dry and scorched lips and tongue; decocted with Congbai (Scallion White) as tea, it removes headaches. Xiao Bing states: It acts as a Chen drug (assistant). Ri Huazi states: It treats Tianxing Kuanre (epidemic extreme heat), promotes lactation, treats Toufeng Xuan (vertigo/head wind), heart irritability, and rubbing teeth benefits dental health. Jizi (Egg) is its Shi drug. Antagonism: Mangcao (Aristolochia debilis), Mumdugong, Badou (Croton Seed). Aversion: Iron.
