All five types of corpse diseases (Shi Bing), namely Feishi (Flying Corpse), Dunshi (Escaping Corpse), Fengshi (Wind Corpse), Chenshi (Sinking Corpse), and Shizhu (Corpse Transmission), are now treated with a single combined prescription. The manifestations include abdominal pain, distension, and urgency, leading to dyspnea; rebellious Qi rushing upward to the chest and heart, attacking laterally to both hypochondriac regions; or the formation of palpable masses, or spasmodic traction affecting the waist and back. The treatment method involves moxibustion at a point three cun posterior to the nipple, on the left side for males and the right side for females, applying fourteen moxa cones (Erqi Zhuang). If symptoms persist, increase the number of moxa cones until recovery is achieved.
Additionally, apply seven moxa cones to the tips of both thumbs.
Apply ten moxa cones three cun below the epigastrium.
Apply moxibustion one cun below the nipple, on the affected side (left or right), with the number of cones determined by the severity of the illness.
Use a fine string to measure the distance between the patient's two nipples, cut it, and fold it in half. Then, measure outward from the nipple along the rib cage until the end of the string reaches the costal margin, and apply three moxa cones at this location.
For acute transmission of corpse pathogenic factors attacking the chest and heart, moxibustion is applied at the spinous process of the seventh thoracic vertebra, with the number of cones corresponding to the patient's age (Suinian Zhuang).
Apply three moxa cones one cun below the epigastrium.
Apply moxibustion at the elbow crease, with the number of cones corresponding to the patient's age.
For all cases of food-related corpse transmission, apply moxibustion to the tip of the little finger, with the number of cones corresponding to the patient's age, on the left side for males and the right side for females.
For Wudu Zhu (Five Poisons Transmission) causing inability to eat and various ailments, apply ten moxa cones three cun below the epigastrium at the Weiyuan region.
For Shui Zhu (Water Transmission), characterized by gurgling water in the mouth, the Classics state: "Lung Metal overacting on Kidney Water." Symptoms include vomiting clear fluid after eating. Moxibustion is applied to Feishu (BL13).
Additionally, moxibustion is applied to Sanyinjiao (SP6).
Additionally, moxibustion is applied to Qimen (LR14), located in the intercostal space below the nipple, second rib. This method aims to drain Lung heat and tonify Kidney essence, with the number of cones corresponding to the patient's age.
For all cases of corpse transmission, regardless of whether they are new or old, have the patient lie supine and apply moxibustion three cun obliquely downward from the sides of both breasts, in the third intercostal space. The number of cones corresponds to the patient's age, up to three hundred cones. This method is also effective for treating various Qi disorders and is known as Zhu disease.
(Seven categories in total)
Discussion states: The Large Intestine Fu organ is paired with the Lung. The central part of the nasal bridge serves as its external diagnostic indicator, as Lung Qi harmonizes with the Large Intestine. The Large Intestine is the Fu organ responsible for conducting and excreting waste, referred to as "Jian Cang Yuan" (Manager of Granaries). It weighs two jin and twelve liang, is one zhang and two chi long, six cun wide, located to the right of the umbilicus, with twelve folds and curves, capable of storing one dou and two sheng of water and grain. It governs the Qi circulation of the twelve double-hours, regulates blood vessels, and harmonizes spirit and vitality. (Records in *Qianjin Fang*, *Mingtang Jing*, and *Waitai Miyao* are consistent. *Nan Jing* states: If the Yang pulse at the Cun position before the Guan on the right hand is absent, it indicates no pulse in the Large Intestine. If there is shortness of breath and fluid retention in the epigastrium, coughing will occur at the Start of Autumn; needle the Hand Taiyin Lung Meridian. To treat Yin deficiency, select Yuji (LU10).
If the Yang pulse at the Cun position before the Guan on the right hand is excess, it indicates Large Intestine Excess Syndrome. If there is severe cutting pain in the intestines like needle stabs without relief, needle the Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian. To treat Yang excess, apply draining technique at the wrist.
In Large Intestine disease, there is severe intestinal pain and borborygmus. If exposed to cold in winter, diarrhea occurs, with pain at the umbilicus, and inability to stand for long periods, similar to Stomach disease. Diagnosis can be taken at Shangliao (ST37).
Borborygmus in the intestines, Qi rushing upward to the chest, wheezing, and inability to stand for long periods indicate pathogenic factors in the Large Intestine. Needle the Yuan source point of the Blindness (Huangyuan), specifically Shangliao (ST37) and Zusanli (ST36).
Large Intestine distension presents with borborygmus and pain; cold causes diarrhea and undigested food in stool.
Cold in the Large Intestine leads to loose stools; Heat in the Large Intestine leads to passage of intestinal mucus/pus.
Food stagnation in the Large Intestine causes aversion to cold and fever, resembling malaria paroxysms.
If the Lung is first affected by disease and transmits it to the Large Intestine, persistent lung cough results in involuntary defecation during coughing. If Jue Qi invades the Large Intestine, dreams of fields occur.
The Lung corresponds to the skin: thick skin indicates thick Large Intestine; thin skin indicates thin Large Intestine; lax skin with a large abdomen indicates a lax and long Large Intestine; tight skin indicates a contracted and short Large Intestine; smooth skin indicates a straight Large Intestine; closely adhered skin and muscle indicate knotted Large Intestine.
Bian Que stated: The Hand Taiyin and Hand Yangming meridians are exterior-interior pairs. If the Large Intestine suffers from excess syndrome, it injures with Heat, leading to distension and obstruction, and oral ulcers. When food enters the intestine, if the Intestine is excess and the Stomach is deficient, or when food enters the Stomach, if the Stomach is excess and the Intestine is deficient, thus the Large Intestine is "full but not stuffed," alternating between excess and deficiency, coming and going. Deficiency leads to Cold invasion; Cold causes borborygmus, passage of green-white dysentery, and Qi rebellion. The root of water metabolism lies in the Large Intestine (Formulas see Water Treatment Chapter).
If Large Intestine function fails and cannot be treated, how is it diagnosed? Profuse diarrhea without limit; if diarrhea ceases due to exhaustion of Zheng Qi, death ensues.
The Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian originates from the radial end of the index finger, runs along the radial border of the finger, emerges between the bones at Hegu (LI4), ascends between the two tendons, runs up the arm, passes through the diaphragm, and connects to the Large Intestine. Its branch rises straight from the Supraclavicular Fossa to the neck, penetrates the cheek, enters the lower gum, returns to cross at the Philtrum, left crossing to right, right crossing to left, ascending alongside the nostrils. Abnormal movement of this meridian causes toothache and cheek swelling. It governs diseases related to body fluids, such as yellow eyes, dry mouth, nasal congestion/epistaxis, throat bi, pain in the anterior shoulder, and pain/uselessness of the index finger. If Qi is excessive, heat and swelling occur along the meridian pathway; if deficient, there is cold intolerance. If deficiency is severe and does not recover, the Renying (ST9) pulse is three times larger than the Cunkou (Radial) pulse; in true deficiency, Renying is smaller than Cunkou.
