Etiologically, some individuals wet the bed during sleep without awareness. This is due to their innate constitution where Yin Qi (Yin energy) is excessive and Yang Qi (Yang energy) is deficient, resulting in coldness of both the Bladder and Kidney Qi, which fails to warm and control water fluids.
Qianjin Fang (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) formulas for enuresis:
Take one sheep stomach, fill it with water, tie both ends tightly, boil thoroughly, and drink the broth all at once; the condition will be cured immediately.
Another formula:
Take one chicken including its intestines, dry them in the sun, powder them, and take with wine. Use a female chicken for males and a male chicken for females.
Yet another formula:
Fill a sheep bladder with water, burn it over charcoal until the meat is consumed, and take on an empty stomach in the morning. It will be cured within four or five doses.
Another formula for treating enuresis:
Take one cup of freshly steamed rice, sprinkle it onto the place where the bed was wetted, mix it, collect it, and feed it to the patient without letting them know.
Another formula:
Hang both hands down by the thighs, moxa-ignite the point where the fingertips sink into the muscle (seven moxa cones), and also moxa-ignite the transverse crease of the navel (seven moxa cones). (Both from Volume 21)
Recently effective formula for treating enuresis:
Take materials from cloth shoes, nursing belts, and nasal roots, excluding the soles only. Use seven pairs, boil in seven sheng (ancient unit of volume) of water until two sheng remain, and divide into two doses for administration.
Qianjin Yi Fang (Supplement to Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) moxibustion methods for treating the Five Stranguries:
Moxa-ignite Dadun (LR1) acupoint for thirty cones.
For stone strangury and thirty-six types of diseases below the umbilicus causing inability to urinate:
Moxa-ignite Guanyuan (CV4) acupoint for thirty cones; another school says one hundred cones.
For blood strangury:
Moxa-ignite Dantian (CV11) acupoint; using the "age-based cone count" method is beneficial.
Another formula:
Moxa-ignite Fuliu (KI7) acupoint for fifty cones; another view suggests the age-based cone count.
For yellow urine:
Moxa-ignite Shimen (CV5) acupoint for fifty cones.
For enuresis:
Moxa-ignite Yidao (EX-UE9) located five cun lateral to Yuquan (CV2); use the age-based cone count.
Another method:
Moxa-ignite Yanglingquan (GB34) acupoint; use the age-based cone count.
For urinary incontinence without awareness:
Moxa-ignite Yinlingquan (SP9) acupoint; use the age-based cone count.
For pain in the urethra:
Moxa-ignite Xingjian (LR2) acupoint for thirty cones.
For abdominal fullness and frequent urination:
Moxa-ignite Quguduan (EX-LE6) for fourteen cones (two times seven).
For strangury pain:
Moxa-ignite Zhongfeng (SP5) acupoint for thirty cones; alternatively, use the age-based cone count.
For difficulty in urination and zhuanbao (bladder torsion/complication):
Moxa-ignite the point eight cun below the heart (Xinxia); seven cones. (All above points are from Volume 27)
