The *Zhouhou Beiji Fang* (Emergency Prescriptions Kept in My Sleeve) method for treating patients who have died from consuming *Gelsemium elegans* (Ye Ge).
Use an object to pry open the mouth, take three chicken eggs, mix them, and administer orally. After a short while, the poison of *Gelsemium elegans* will be vomited out.
Another prescription:
Take a live duck, sever the head directly at the mouth, drip the duck's blood into the patient's mouth, and let the patient swallow it; life can be restored. If the mouth is clenched shut, take a large bamboo tube, insert one end into the patient's chest or hypochondrium, pour cold water into the tube, and repeat this several times. Soon the mouth will open, allowing medication to be administered. If the condition is severe, insert tubes into both hypochondria and the umbilicus with water injection; this is very effective.
Another prescription:
Drink licorice juice (*Gancao* decoction); the more, the better.
Additionally, *Gelsemium elegans* (Gou Wen) resembles edible celery, but grows in places where no other grasses are nearby, has hairy stems, and is fatal if ingested by mistake. The rescue method is as follows:
*Cardamine hirsuta* (Ji She Cao) (8 liang), chopped, boiled in 6 sheng of water until reduced to 3 sheng, then taken orally.
Furthermore, this plant often grows by fences, field ridges, and ditches, looking extremely similar to tea. People who recognize it dare not eat it. However, those who do not recognize it may consume it, mistaking it for *Gelsemium elegans*. For all the aforementioned drugs, when using juices to detoxify, even in critical situations, they must not be drunk hot. They must be cooled down to be effective; hot ingestion does not detoxify.
The *Jiyan Fang* (Collected Verified Prescriptions) treats patients poisoned by various drugs or *Gelsemium elegans* who are not yet dead, experiencing abdominal distress, a sensation of tearing or splitting, sounds like intestines breaking, diplopia (seeing one person as two), or seeing colored halos. Death occurs shortly if not treated. The prescription is:
