The method for diagnosing *Fugu Ju* (Bone-Attaching Abscess) in the *Qianjin Fang*: In all cases of *Fugu Ju*, pus forms inexplicably attached to the bone. Hence it is named *Fugu Ju*. It tends to occur in the gaps of large joints; men and postpartum women are prone to this condition.
[Note: The original text contains gaps or formatting errors here. Based on context, the following meaning is inferred:] Patients may experience generalized swelling (*Hongzhong*). Furthermore, when the body suffers from heat and one seeks coolness by facing the wind, wind qi invades the bone gaps. Wind and heat contend with each other, resulting in *Fugu Ju*. Its manifestations include drowsiness, heaviness of the body, and sudden tinnitus. Additionally, if one sleeps outdoors during autumn and summer and is injured by cold, wind and heat lie latent and congealed, causing this disease. Acute cases have more heat and less wind; chronic cases have more wind and less heat. Children... [Text cuts off].
Furthermore, regarding *Gu Ju* (Bone Abscess), it refers to long-standing sores that do not heal, recur after healing, and where bone protrudes from the orifice. This is called *Gu Ju*.
Formula 1: Mix pig bile (*Zhudan*) with mulberry leaf (*Qiuye*), pound them together, and apply as a poultice.
Formula 2: Pound white poplar leaf (*Baiyangye*), sift it, and apply it to the affected area.
Formula 3: Dig a pit, small at the opening and large at the bottom, three chi deep. Take five sheng of dry chicken manure, mix it with mugwort (*Ai*) and Chinese cornel leaf (*Jingye*), making it combustible. Generate smoke, place the orifice of the abscess into the pit, cover the pit's opening with clothing to prevent smoke leakage. After about half a day, worms should emerge.
Formula 4: For treating carbuncles/ulcers that have decayed and *Gu Ju*. Powderized dragon bone (*Longgu*) should be applied thickly (two fen thickness) around the four sides of the sore.
Formula 5: Use one dead toad (*Zisi Xama*), a handful of human hair, and one and a half pieces of lard (*Zhugao*). Place the two ingredients into the lard and boil until they dissolve completely and sink. To cool the mixture, add one ge of salt and stir well. Apply the ointment into the sore, changing it once daily. When worms emerge like hair, and all worms are expelled, the patient will be cured.
Formula 6: A formula for *Gu Ju* that has not healed despite hundred treatments. Apply moxibustion directly on the sore for three days and nights continuously; there will be no case that does not heal. (All above formulas are cited from Volume 23).
Formula 7: For emergency treatment of *Gu Ju* persisting for years, recurring once a year, with discharging fluid that does not heal. Boil gelatin, pound it into powder, and sprinkle it on the raised sore. Also, apply fresh snakehead fish (*Li Yu*) to the area. After the time it takes to eat a meal, scrape and observe for small worms emerging. Wash and reapply repeatedly until all worms are expelled, then stop. (Same as *Beiji Wen Zhong Fang*).
Formula 8: For treating ulcer sores where bone protrudes. Coptis Rhizome (*Huanglian*) and Oyster Shell (*Muli*) (each two fen, roasted). Pound these two ingredients into powder. First wash the sore with saline solution, then sprinkle the powder. (Same as *Wen Zhong Fang*, Volume 4).
