Ulcerated sores with protruding malignant flesh are named "toxic root" (Du Gen, toxic root). Often, corrosive medicines are used to rot them away, which is equivalent to forcing the patient to die quickly. One fails to realize how a weak constitution can endure increased pain? Moreover, if they grow back after being rotted away, how can one rot them again? The Ping'an Bing (Peaceful Cake) I formulated is specifically applied to the toxic root, covered externally with Yanghe Jiebing Gao (Yanghe Resolving Paste), changed once a day. For mild cases, two to three days; for severe cases, six to seven days. Without itching or pain, the toxic root falls off naturally. While applying the cake, Tuodu San (Toxin-Expelling Powder) is taken orally daily. Once the toxic root has fallen off, Baoyuan Tang (Protect the Origin Decoction) and Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) should be taken to conclude the treatment.
Mr. Ma said: This condition is caused by fire pathogen within the sore. It is better to use Tonglü (Malachite Green) ground into an extremely fine powder, aged to remove its fire toxicity, sprinkled on the lesion, and covered with a plaster to flatten the surface.
If an ulcer remains unhealed for a long time, it will inevitably lead to everted flower-like tissue and hardness at the anal region. Take an old toad, cut open its abdomen including the viscera, pierce several holes in the toad's body, and apply it to the affected opening. For mild cases, change once a day; for severe cases, change twice a day. On the day of applying the toad, take Xingxiao Wan (Xingxiao Pill) 3 qian, delivered with aged yellow wine to stop pain. After three days, when the toxin is exhausted, continue taking Xingxiao Wan to eliminate the everted tissue and soften the hardness. If a major sore has just ulcerated, follow the previous method, allowing the toxin to exit through the holes in the toad. If the anal opening is hard and the sore is deep, take fresh roots, branches, and leaves of Arctii Fructus Radix (Niubangzi, burdock root), or soft parts of Violae Herba (Zihua Diding, violet herb), pound them into a paste, and apply inside the anal canal to extract toxin and flatten the area, with extraordinary efficacy.
Mr. Ma said: Applying a cut toad to this condition is quite effective.
Those who have suffered from the toxicity of Jiang Yao (corrosive medicine) will definitely experience delirium and vomiting. This is due to toxic vapors attacking the heart. Urgently use Huxin San (Heart-Protecting Powder): decoct Sheng Gancao (Raw Licorice Root) 1 liang into a thick concentrated juice, let the patient sip it continuously. After swallowing more than half, vomiting will naturally cease, spirit will become clear, and then take Xingxiao Wan to calm the condition.
Mr. Ma said: Sore toxins attacking the heart also cause delirium and vomiting. As for the toxicity of corrosive medicine, it is best to resolve it using Renzhonghuang (Human Excrement Charcoal), Guanzhong (Cyrtomium Rhizome), and Lüdou (Mung Bean).
Yin Du conditions present with similar skin colors, but some are swollen and some are not, some painful and some not, some hard and immovable, some soft like cotton. Differentiation is essential. Swollen but not hard, painfully unbearable, is Liuzhu (Flowing Abscess). Swollen, hard, and slightly painful, includes Tiegu Ju (Bone-Clinging Carbuncle), Hexi Feng (Crane-Knee Wind), Heng Xuan (Transverse Bubo), and Gucao Feng (Bone-Trough Wind). Not swollen but painful, with numbness in joints and insensitivity in limbs, is Fengshi (Wind-Dampness). Hard like a nut, initially painless, is Ruyan (Breast Cancer) and Luoli (Scrofula). Painless but hard, large as a fist, is Ehe (Malignant Nodule) and Shirong (Loss of Glory). Painless, not hard, soft and gradually enlarging, is Yingliu (Goiter). Painless but hard as metal/stone, shaped like a sheng or dou measure, is Shiju (Stone Carbuncle). These syndromes all belong to Yin Deficiency. Regardless of whether flat or large, when toxin erupts from the five zang organs, it is called Yin Ju (Yin Carbuncle). If painful at onset, it is easy to dissipate; if painless upon heavy pressure but hard, the toxic root is deep and solid, making rapid dissipation difficult. The treatment methods and formulas are fixed; students reading this will understand clearly.
Mr. Ma said: Soft like cotton indicates stagnation of Qi and Phlegm. Treatment should focus on moving Qi; when Qi moves, Phlegm moves. Liuzhu is also known as Qi Du (Qi Toxin) or Chuantan (Stringing Phlegm).
Furthermore: Ruyan, Shirong, and Madao (Horse Knife - a type of scrofula) are conditions injured by Seven Emotions. Treatment should focus on resolving depression and soothing the Liver; they cannot be treated according to the Yin Ju example.
