Soak these herbs in 13 jin of pure sesame oil. Soak for five days in spring, three days in summer, seven days in autumn, and half a month in winter. After the soaking period, place them in a large pot and simmer slowly until the herbs are charred and float to the surface. Let it sit off the fire for a moment, then filter out the herb dregs using a cloth bag. Weigh the oil accurately, clean the pot thoroughly, and filter the oil again through fine silk into the pot to ensure clarity. Add the hair and simmer slowly until the hair floats. When lifted with a willow stick, it should resemble melted paste; this indicates perfection. Once cooked, for every jin of clear oil, add 6.5 liang of calcined lead tetroxide (Huandan) slowly. Increase the heat slightly. In hot summer and autumn weather, add 5 qian of Huandan per jin of oil. Stir continuously. Wait for green smoke to appear first, followed by white smoke rising in layers. When the aroma is rich and fragrant, the ointment is ready. Immediately remove from heat. Test the consistency by dropping the ointment into water; it should be neither too hard nor too soft. If too hard, add refined oil; if too thin, add a little roasted Huandan. Gradually increase the heat, ensuring the ointment's texture is appropriate for both winter and summer conditions. Remove the pot from the fire, stir until all smoke dissipates, add the fine powder herbs, mix evenly, and pour into water. Use a willow stick to gather the mixture into blocks, changing the water as needed. Soak in cold water for a while. While still warm, pull and stretch half a jin of the ointment one hundred times. Form into blocks and soak in fresh cold water again. To use, melt a piece in a copper spoon and spread it.
Fine powder ingredients: Frankincense (Ruxiang), Myrrh (Moyao), Dragon's Blood (Xuejie) (each 1 liang); Calomelas (Qingfen) (8 qian); Borax (Chaonao/Bingpian) (2 liang); Fossilized Bones (Longgu); Red Kaolin (Chishizhi) (2 liang); Cuttlebone (Haipiaoxiao) (5 qian); Borneol (Bingpian), Musk (Shexiang) (3 qian); Realgar (Xionghuang) (2 liang).
Grind all into powder and add to the prepared ointment base.

For *Pi Ji* (abdominal masses): First, make a ring of flour and place it around the mass. Place approximately 2 liang of Mirabilite (Pixiao) inside, cover with paper, and apply heat with an iron to warm it, then remove the Mirabilite. Apply the ointment and continue heating until sweating occurs and warmth is felt in the abdomen.
For traumatic injuries and various toxins/sores: Apply directly to the affected area.
For all internal and external conditions, apply with a hot cloth compress. For scabies, tinea, rashes, and leprosy-like conditions, apply to the umbilicus and compress until sweating occurs.
For blood stasis masses (*Xue Xia*) and *Pi Ji*: Add 2 liang each of Ferula Resin (awei) and Portulaca Oleracea Paste (Machixian Gao). Apply immediately for effect. (Ferula Resin resolves stagnation; dissolve it in water, pour into the ointment, stir off-heat to evaporate moisture, then add fine powder herbs.)
For silk backing: Coat with egg white. For cloth backing: Coat with rosin and beeswax. For dog skin backing: Wash with water to remove nitre smell. For oil-paper backing: Boil in licorice decoction or with locust branches before spreading.
Surface cotton paper method: Use Hangzhou Mao Tou paper. For every 1 jin of wheat flour, add a walnut-sized piece of alum, grind into a thin paste, add a small amount of starch, and coat the paper. This makes it soft, white, and non-sticky.
Oil-paper method: Grind several seeds of Macadamia integrifolia (Tiannazi) and a small amount of lead powder finely. Mix with about one bowl of tung oil. Brush evenly with cotton wool. Alternate with non-oiled paper, layering and pressing. Frequently replace to prevent sticking. Alternatively, mix raw tung oil and rendered lard equally and apply according to this method.
