Hong Kong Foot Sores (a type of ulcer occurring on the feet and knees) arise in the foot and knee regions. This condition is caused by the internal entanglement of damp-heat, compounded by wind pathogen invasion. Clinical manifestations include high fever, swelling, pain, exudation of yellow fluid, and mental restlessness; Rhinoceros Horn (Xijiao) is effective.
[Note] This syndrome occurs at the feet and knees. It results from damp-heat clashing internally, stagnating in the skin and interstices (Couli), while being invaded externally by wind pathogens. The qi mechanism fails to circulate freely, leading to sores on the feet and knees. Symptoms include itching, pain, and swelling; upon rupture, yellow fluid oozes out. The appearance resembles Huangshui Chuang (a dermatological condition characterized by yellow serous exudate), but it is accompanied by severe body heat and mental irritability, making it difficult to heal over a long duration. It is advisable to administer Xijiao San (Rhino Horn Powder) internally, wash the affected area with Loulu Tang (Imperata Decoction) externally, and apply Longgu San (Dragon Bone Powder) for significant efficacy.
Xijiao San (Rhino Horn Powder)
Xijiao Xie (Shavings of Rhinoceros Horn), Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, stir-fried with bran), Baixianpi (Dictamni Cortex), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Bijieli (Tribuli Fructus) [each 7.5 qian],
Binglang (Arecae Semen) [1 liang], Wushaoshe (Zaocys), soaked in wine [2 liang], Gancao (Licorice Root), honey-fried [5 qian].
Grind the above ingredients into coarse powder. Take 8 qian per dose, add 1.5 zhong of water and 5 slices of Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger), decoct until 1 zhong remains, strain, and take warm at any time.
[Prescription Verse] Xijiao San treats Hong Kong Foot Sores, containing Tianma, Zhishi, Baixianpi, and Binglang; Wushaoshe, Huangqin, Gancao, Fangfeng, and Qianghuo; Bijieli ground into coarse powder, with Shengjiang added as an guiding agent.
Loulu Tang (Imperata Decoction)
Loulu (Imperatae Radix), Gancao (Licorice Root, raw), Huaibai Pi (Morus Alba Bark), Wujia Pi (Acanthopanacis Cortex), Bailian (Paeoniae Albae Radix) [each 1.5 liang], Bijieli (Tribuli Fructus) [4 liang].
Grind together into coarse powder. Use 5 liang per application, add 8 bowls of water, decoct until 5 bowls remain, strain, and wash the affected area.
[Prescription Verse] Loulu Tang consists of Gancao and Huaibai Pi, combined with Wujia Pi, Bailian, and Bijieli. It treats pain, itching, and exudation in Hong Kong Foot Sores; boiling the decoction to wash the affected area rapidly disperses dampness.
Longgu San (Dragon Bone Powder)
Baigulong (Fossilized Bones, finely ground), Qingfen (Calomelas) [each 2.5 qian], Binglang (Arecae Semen, finely ground) [1 qian], Zhufen (Porci Faeces) [5 qian: dried on a new tile, then calcined in fire until carbonized (Cinxing), and ground into powder].
Grind uniformly. First, rinse the sore with Qiye water (Shepherd's Purse infusion) or warm saline solution until clean flesh is exposed. Then, mix the medicine with Xiangyou (Sesame Oil) and apply according to the size of the sore. Reapply if not healed.
[Prescription Verse] Longgu San removes dampness and necrotic tissue; applying it to Hong Kong Foot Sores leads to natural healing. With Qingfen, Binglang, Zhufen, and Xiangyou, even chronic malignant ulcers can be cured.
