The waist, (that is, the area below the fourteenth vertebra of the spine, between the fifteenth and sixteenth vertebrae, above the sacrum.) The Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian and the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian enter the waist. The Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian reaches the waist.
If a carbuncle or deep abscess occurs at the Shenshu acupoint, which is located in the depression of the muscles on both sides of the spine, treat it according to the general principles for Yang-type carbuncles/deep abscesses and Yin-type deep abscesses.
A red swelling appearing on the waist, shaped like a tumor; if a red line appears on each side winding towards the umbilicus and abdomen, the prognosis is fatal. Grind ink densely to make a liquid, mix with realgar powder, and apply to the affected area for immediate recovery.
Occurring between the waist and ribs, clustered like beads, varying in dryness and moisture, with differences in red and yellow colors. The dry type is bright red, shaped like cloud patches, with wind-millet-like papules rising on the surface; itching is more severe than in the dry type, accompanied by pain. This belongs to damp-heat in the Liver and Spleen. It is suitable to take Weiling Decoction (Guizhi Tang variant) added with Gardenia (Shanzhi), Saposhnikovia root (Fangfeng), and Gypsum (Shigao). Small blisters can be pierced with a thread needle. Externally, use the residue from a fecal bucket furnace, burn charcoal until carbonized but not ashed, grind into powder, and mix with sesame oil for application. Alternatively, equal parts of snake skin and mud from a squatting toilet board, mixed with hemp seed oil for application, are also effective. If this condition is not treated promptly, the toxin will encircle the waist completely, enter the umbilicus, causing abdominal distension, stifling sensation, and vomiting, which is dangerous and requires urgent treatment.
