[English Translation]
Formula for treating summer heat-induced red and white dysentery:
Jiao Shan Zha (Scorched Crataegi Fructus, 5 qian) Hong Tang (Brown Sugar, 5 qian) Bai Tang (White Sugar, 5 qian) Luo Bo (Radish, 1 piece) Huo Xiang (Agastache Herba, 0.5 qian).
If the dysentery is white, use 1 liang of Brown Sugar; if it is red, use 1 liang of White Sugar. Decoct in water and take orally. Following are other empirically effective miraculous formulas:
For men, taking this medicine replenishes essence and supplements marrow, unblocks and facilitates Kidney Qi. Regardless of whether the Lower Jiao (lower burner organs and meridians) presents with deficiency or excess, cold or heat syndromes, taking it will naturally restore bodily harmony. It is known as the number one "seed-proliferating" (fertility-enhancing) formula since ancient times.
Gan Gou Qi Zi (Goji Berry from Ganzhou, 8 liang) Tu Si Zi (Cuscutae Semen, 8 liang, steamed with wine and pounded into cakes) Liao Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Fructus from Liaoning, 2 liang, crushed) Che Qian Zi (Plantaginis Semen, 2 liang, thoroughly pounded).
All herbs must be selected from authentic geographical origins, fresh and refined, then dried by baking and sun-drying. They are collectively ground into fine powder, mixed with refined honey to form pills the size of a tung tree seed. Take 90 pills on an empty stomach, and 50 pills before going to bed.
In autumn, select days corresponding to Ren, Gui, Hai, and Zi (Water elements); in winter, select days corresponding to Jia, Yi, Yin, and Mao (Wood elements). Avoid having nuns, widows, or other people see it, as well as chickens and dogs.
For women, taking this medicine regulates menstruation, nourishes blood, calms the fetus, and smooths Qi. It treats all conditions regardless of whether they occur before pregnancy, after childbirth, involve irregular menstrual cycles, or excessive/insufficient flow, significantly benefiting offspring. Bao Bi, an official of the Taipu Temple from Taizhou, had a wife who was thirty years old and barren. Suddenly, her menstruation ceased for ten months, and her abdomen became distended without pain. Everyone believed she was pregnant. One day, she suddenly expelled a bucket full of foul matter, which upon inspection turned out to be putrid phlegm and accumulated blood. Later, she took this pill again, and unexpectedly gave birth to a son the following year. Zhang Yun stated that he once shared these two formulas with others, and no one failed to respond effectively.
Zhen E Jiao (Donkey-Hide Gelatin, stir-fried with clam powder until puffed) Qi Ai Ye (Artemisiae Argyi Folium from Qichun, veins and stems removed, steamed with vinegar and dried) Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, select plump ones, wash with wine and remove the radix head)
Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma, remove the radix head) Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix, remove the core, select those that sink in water, preferably from Huaiqing), Xiang Fu (Cyperi Rhizoma, select those with red heart, remove hairs) Bai Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, select plump and long ones).
Each of the above herbs is 2 liang. Pound them to the size of rice grains. Soak overnight in water and vinegar separately. Sun-dry and bake until the total weight is 12 liang.
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Take one large aged pomegranate, crush it with the peel included. Use three sheng of flowing water from the east, boil down removing the dregs, and use wheat paste to form pills the size of a tung tree seed. Take 100 pills each time... (Text ends abruptly)
