Baihuan shu (BL30, White Ring Shu): Two acupoints. Located below the 21st lumbar vertebra, on both sides, separated by 1.5 cun (body-inch). This point is where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyang meridian emerges. It regulates spinal spasm and pain, difficulty in defecation and urination, and various diseases. Needle insertion depth: 3 fen. According to the *Jia Yi Jing* and Zhen Quan’s *Zhen Jing*: The patient should lie prone with abdomen extended, hands crossed supporting the forehead, relaxing the breath so that skin and muscles are loose, then locate the point. Needle insertion depth: 8 fen. Upon obtaining Deqi (arrival of qi), apply reducing method; after reducing, apply reinforcing method. Main indications: lumbosacral pain, hemiplegia, warm malaria, cold sensation in the waist, insomnia, wind-malaria due to overwork. Moxibustion is contraindicated. Sexual intercourse should be restrained, heavy lifting avoided, and other taboos observed as previously stated.

Gaohuangshu (BL43, Primordial Qi Huang Shu): Two acupoints. Also indicated for treating all ailments, suitable for emaciation and deficiency damage, nocturnal seminal emission, upward rushing qi with cough and counterflow, delirium, confusion, and incoherent speech. Method for locating: Have the patient sit upright, cross arms to hug shoulders, bend forward so that the scapulae separate, exposing the point. Skin texture may resemble flowing water. If phlegm disease exists, moxibustion may induce expectoration. If the patient is too weak to sit upright, have them lie on their side, bending forward towards the upper arm to locate from the front. General method for finding: Use right hand from left shoulder; the point unreachable by fingertips is the location; same for left side. Then apply moxibustion as described. If unable to sit long, extend arms, have someone help bend forward to separate scapulae; otherwise, scapulae will cover the point. Clothing thickness must be consistent to avoid error. After moxibustion, Yang Qi becomes robust; self-nourishment should be adjusted accordingly until recovery. This point is near the 5th thoracic vertebra. Commentary: In ancient times, He Huan could not cure the Marquis of Jin because the disease was located above the 'Gao' (heart fat) and below the 'Huang' (diaphragm fat), beyond the reach of needles and herbs—referring to this point. People often fail to locate it, making chronic diseases hard to resolve. If sought diligently and treated with moxibustion, no disease remains uncured.
