Five Deviations (Wu Guai)
Wearing heavy clothes yet feeling colder is the first deviation. When ordinary people feel cold, wearing clothes makes them warm; however, those taking mineral drugs should wear thin clothes. If wearing heavy clothes makes one feel colder, as stated in medical classics: "Extreme heat generates cold." Hence, this is called the first deviation.
Generating foul odor when hungry is the second deviation. When ordinary people's food digestion fails, it produces the smell of raw food. Those taking mineral drugs who endure hunger and eat raw food will also produce such odors, which differs from ordinary people. Hence, this is the second deviation.
Self-labor at extreme fatigue is the third deviation. When ordinary people are extremely fatigued, they need rest and nourishment; however, those taking mineral drugs who suffer extreme fatigue from prolonged sitting or lying must engage in self-labor to dissipate the drug's qi. Hence, this is the third deviation.
Warmth causing diarrhea is the fourth deviation. Ordinary people suffer diarrhea due to cold and recover upon warming up; however, those taking mineral drugs suffer diarrhea when warm and improve when cold. Hence, this is the fourth deviation.
Preference for cold diet is the fifth deviation. Ordinary people achieve harmony of the five zang organs by consuming warm food; however, those taking mineral drugs find comfort only with cold food and drink. Hence, this is the fifth deviation.
Seven Urgencies (Qi Ji)
Bathing without missing the timing is the first urgency. If one feels loose body pain, stiff joints, slight fever, and mental restlessness, bathing is required immediately. [Text fragment implies timely action during initial chill]. Hence, this is the first urgency.
Enduring hunger while eating involves conflict; this is the second urgency. One must eat when hungry and must not endure starvation. Hence, this is the second urgency.
Alcohol must be pure, clear, and warm; this is the third urgency. It must be consumed regardless of winter or summer, in amounts according to one's preference, with hot consumption being particularly good. Hence, this is the third urgency.
Removing clothes once warm is the fourth urgency.
Food must be extremely cold is the fifth urgency.
Sleeping on a thin bed is the sixth urgency.
Not disliking abundant food is the seventh urgency.
Eight Prohibitions (Ba Bu Ke)
Desiring fire for warmth in winter cold is the first prohibition.
Preferring hot food and drink is the second prohibition.
Harboring self-doubt is the third prohibition. When taking mineral drugs, one must always exercise moderation. Upon feeling slight discomfort, one must follow regulations and must not generate personal doubt.
Fearing and avoiding wind and dampness is the fourth prohibition. If one feels head wind-heat oppression and mental irritability, one should comb hair in the wind and wash hands and face with water. This is different from ordinary practices... [Text fragment implies not avoiding wind like ordinary people]. Hence, this is the fourth prohibition.
Being unable to walk due to extreme fatigue is the fifth prohibition. If extreme fatigue results from prolonged sitting or lying, one must walk and labor to self-exercise.
Fear of eating too much when desiring food is the sixth prohibition.
Craving thick and soft bedding is the seventh prohibition.
Following one's will (indulgence/hesitation) is the eighth prohibition. Do not follow the hesitation caused by one's will.
Three Doubtless Principles (San Wu Yi)
Adhering to common principles is the first doubtless principle.
Committing the mind and abandoning the root (letting go of attachments) is the second doubtless principle.
Ensuring sleeping quarters are cold is the third doubtless principle.
Those taking mineral drugs who can follow these Five Deviations, Seven Urgencies, Eight Prohibitions, and Three Doubtless Principles can eliminate sudden incapacitation occurring day or night and avoid the adverse effects of mineral drug activation.
