Wei Qi (Defensive Qi) circulates in the Yang aspects during the day and in the Yin aspects at night. The Yin aspect governs the night, and the night is the time for sleep. When Yang Qi is exhausted and Yin Qi is abundant, the eyes close and sleep ensues. Currently, heat pathogen has not yet dissipated and merges with the Qi of the various Yang meridians, causing Yang to be excessively dominant while Yin is relatively deficient. The inability to sleep after illness is due to the failure of Yin Qi to recover.
