Coughing and expectorating pus and blood are caused by damage to the Lung and injury to the Heart. The pulse primarily reflects Qi, while the Heart governs Blood. When the Lung is affected by Cold pathogenic factors, it results in cough; if the cough damages the Yang meridians, it leads to hemoptysis.

For treating cough with expectoration of pus and blood, accompanied by chest fullness and pain, and inability to eat, the Huang San (Yellow Powder) formula is suitable.
Ingredients: Huang [Note: Original text likely refers to a specific herb like Huangqi or similar, but strictly transliterated as 'Huang' based on source] (1 liang, cut into pieces), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig) (1 liang), Shugan Dihuang (Prepared Rehmannia Root) (1 liang), Chifuling (Red Poria) (1 liang), Ziwan (Herba Asteris Tatarici) (1 liang, remove roots and soil), Chenjupi (Dried Tangerine Peel) (1 liang, processed until slightly red, crushed and stir-fried until yellow and dry).
The above ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into a powder. Each dose consists of 4 qian, boiled with 1 zhongzhan of water, 3 jujubes, and 1 fen of Zhuru (Bamboo Shavings), reduced to 6 fen. Strain and discard the dregs.

For treating lung injury causing cough with expectoration of pus and blood, accompanied by abdominal qi stagnation, anorexia, aversion to drinking water, dim vision, and soreness and coldness in the lower legs, the Gan Dihuang San (Rehmannia Powder) formula is suitable.
Ingredients: Shugan Dihuang (Prepared Rehmannia Root) (1 liang), Baifuling (White Poria) (3 fen), Xiong (Szechuan Lovage Rhizome) (1 liang), Lujiao Jiao (Deer Antler Glue) (1 liang, crushed and stir-fried until yellow and dry), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig) (3 fen).
The above ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into a powder. Each dose consists of 2 or 3 qian, boiled with 1 zhongzhan of water, 2 jujubes, and 1 spoonful of Damai (Barley), reduced to 6 fen. Strain and discard the dregs.

For treating cough with expectoration of pus and blood, accompanied by shortness of breath and inability to lie down to sleep, this formula is suitable.
Ingredients: Guixin (Cinnamon Twig) (3 fen), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) [2 or 3 fen, remove rhizome], Ejiao (Donkey-Hide Glue) (1 liang, crushed and stir-fried until yellow and dry), Ziwan (Herba Asteris Tatarici) (3 fen, remove roots and soil).
The above ingredients are coarsely ground and sifted to make a powder. Each dose consists of 4 qian, boiled with 1 zhongzhan of water and 0.5 fen of Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger Root), reduced to 6 fen. Strain and discard the dregs, then add 0.5 liang of Heixi (Black Malt Sugar).

For treating cough with expectoration of pus and blood that persists day and night, accompanied by panting and shortness of breath, the Lujiao Jiao San (Deer Antler Glue Powder) formula is suitable.
Ingredients: Lujiao Jiao (Deer Antler Glue) (crushed and stir-fried until yellow and dry), Baiye (Cacumen Platycladi) (processed until slightly yellow), Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper) (remove eyes and closed ones, lightly stir-fried to remove moisture), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger Rhizome) (pao-processed until cracked), Bai [Note: Text incomplete, likely Bai Zhu or similar], Yuanhua [Note: Text incomplete].

The above ingredients are ground into fine powder, mixed with refined honey, and pounded 300-200 times. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 30 pills at any time with millet broth.

For treating deficiency-heat in the Lung causing cough, dry and painful throat, and occasional expectoration of pus and blood, this formula is suitable.
Ingredients: Shengdihuang (Fresh Rehmannia Root) (extract natural juice, 8 he), Heixi (Black Malt Sugar) (3 he), Baimi (White Honey) (3 he), Baishatang (White Rock Sugar) (3 he), Shengjiang Zhi (Fresh Ginger Juice) (1 he), Chuanshengma [Note: Text incomplete, likely related to preparation method "like paste"], Su [Note: Text incomplete, likely Butter/Ghee].
