Anger causes Qi to rebel. In severe cases, it leads to vomiting blood. There are also cases where improper diet causes Qi to rebel upwards. Generally, when a person experiences rebellious Qi preventing them from lying down, and their breathing is silent, this indicates Stomach Qi rebelling. The Stomach meridian originates from the foot; if the channel Qi fails to circulate and the collateral vessels are obstructed, water fluids follow the pathways of body fluids and stagnate, leading to a dull pain in the back and abnormal pulse at the Cun position. This section treats conditions of deficiency-cold in the Zang-Fu organs, rebellious Qi attacking upwards, oppression and stuffiness in the chest and diaphragm, vomiting and reflux, distension and fullness in the abdomen and hypochondrium, shortness of breath, cold limbs, and difficulty in movement.
