For those suffering from Xiao Ke (Wasting and Thirsting Syndrome) accompanied by abdominal distension after drinking water, the pathology arises from the circulation of Water Qi (Water Pathogenic Factor), which lodges in the Spleen and Stomach. The Spleen is affected by Dampness, impairing its ability to transform and transport food. Furthermore, due to obstruction in the meridians, the flow of Qi and Blood is hindered, preventing the proper dissemination and unblocking of fluids. Consequently, fluids stagnate, accumulate, and overflow into the region of the Bladder, resulting in abdominal fullness and distension.
To treat Xiao Ke with excessive water intake leading to epigastric and abdominal distension and inability to eat, use Renshen San (Ginseng Powder).
Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang, remove the rhizome head) Sangbaipí (Cortex Mori Radicis, 0.5 liang, crushed) Chenjupi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, 1 liang, soaked in hot water, remove white pith, dry-roasted) Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparatum, 0.5 liang, soaked in hot water seven times, remove core) Binglang (Semen Arecae, 0.5 liang)
