Carbuncles and sores (Yong Ju) arise from the disharmony of Yin and Yang, and the stagnation and obstruction of Qi and Blood. Heat toxins accumulate within the Zang-Fu organs and fail to diffuse and circulate freely, attacking the muscles and skin, thereby forming carbuncles and sores.
For treating back carbuncles (Fa Bei), at the initial stage when symptoms are merely suspected, administer internal medicine promptly to promote unblocking and purgation. Additionally, employ the Mutong Decoction for washing and spraying.
Mutong (2 jin), Baiyangpi (1 jin), Chuan Shengma (0.5 jin), Lufengfang (4 liang), Chi Shaoyao (0.5 jin), Gancao (0.5 jin).
All ingredients are coarsely crushed. Boil in 3 dou of water until reduced to 1 dou. Filter out the dregs. While the liquid is still quite hot, use two or three spouted bottles alternately to hold the decoction. Hold the arm high and inject/spray onto the swollen area. Pause intermittently. Continue this for approximately the duration of one meal. Subsequently, use warm water for injection for a similar duration to dissipate heat and release pathogenic factors.
For treating back carbuncles that have already ulcerated with continuous discharge of pus and fluid, exposed to external wind pathogens, causing swelling and pain, employ Danggui Decoction for washing.
Danggui (1 liang), Gancao (1 liang), Chi Shaoyao (1 liang), Gegen (1 liang), Xixin, Huangbai (1 liang), Mahuang (1 liang, remove root and nodes), Kuxin (1 liang), Baizhi (1 liang), Rougui (1 liang), Hanjiao (1 liang), Fangfeng (1 liang, remove rhizome head).
Wash the ingredients with water, crush finely, and bake dry. Divide into four doses. For each dose, boil in 5 sheng of water until reduced to 3 sheng. Wash the sore while warm. Stop when the liquid cools. Wipe with a hot towel. It is advisable to apply a separate ointment plaster afterwards.
For treating carbuncles, swellings, and all types of sores presenting with vexing pain and spreading exudation, employ Zhuti Decoction for pouring and washing.
Zhuti (one pair, hair removed and cleaned), Xiongqiong (1 liang), Chi Shaoyao (1 liang), Chuan Shengma (1 liang), Gancao (1 liang), Shechuangzi (1 liang), Chuan Dahuang (1 liang), Shuodie (1 liang), Huaibai pi (1 liang).
All ingredients are coarsely crushed. First, boil the pig trotters in 2 dou of water until reduced to 1 dou. Remove the trotters. Add the remaining herbs and boil until reduced to 6 sheng. Filter out the dregs. Pour and wash the sore at a temperature suitable for skin contact. Stop when cool. Dry thoroughly and apply a separate topical medication.
For treating back carbuncles that have ulcerated for a long time, resulting in necrosis and rotting, emitting foul odors, with exposed bone and tendons, unresolved residual toxins, and unbearable stabbing pain:
Huanglian (1 liang), Digupi (1 liang), Qianghuo (1 liang), Fangfeng (1 liang, remove rhizome head), Mutong (1 liang), Gancao (1 liang), Baizhi (1 liang), Bencao (1 liang), Huangqi (1 liang, crushed), Fan (1 liang), Congbai (1 liang), Mahuang.
Crush the ingredients finely and divide into seven packets. For each packet, boil in 3 sheng of water until reduced to 2 sheng. Filter out the dregs. Wash the sore warmly. Afterward, wipe dry with a hot towel and apply a flesh-regenerating ointment.
For treating ulcerated and necrotic sores, employ Kushen Decoction for washing.
Kushen (1 liang), Fangfeng (2 liang), Lufengwo (2 liang), Gancao (2 liang).
Crush the ingredients finely. Boil in 2 dou of water until reduced to six-tenths of the original volume. Filter out the dregs. Wash while hot. Stop when the liquid cools.
For treating all types of necrotic and ulcerated sores, employ Zhuti Decoction for washing.
Zhuti (one pair), Baijiang (1 liang), Huailiuzhi (one handful each), Huangqi (2 liang, crushed).
Crush the ingredients. First, boil the pig trotters in 1 dou of water until tender. Remove the trotters. Add the remaining herbs and boil until reduced to 4 sheng. Strain through cloth to remove dregs. Wash the sore. Stop when cool. Dry with cotton wool and immediately apply a flesh-regenerating ointment.
