The Kidney governs the waist and lower limbs. When the Kidney meridian is deficient, it is susceptible to invasion by Wind-Cold pathogens. Accumulated water remains within, and Wind-Water pathogens mutually infiltrate the Kidney Qi, causing the Kidney Qi to stagnate internally and fail to circulate freely, thus giving rise to disease.
To treat Renzhuo (Kidney-Attaching Disease): The body feels cold, with pain and heaviness from the waist downward. It is appropriate to take Gancao San (Licorice Powder).
Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata), 1 liang, roasted until slightly red and chopped; Ganjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Preparatum), 1 liang, processed until cracked and chopped; Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), 3 liang; Bai Fuling (Poria), 3 liang; Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), 2 liang.
The above herbs are coarsely ground and sieved to make a powder. Each dose is 4 qian. Add 1 zhong of water, decoct until reduced to 6 fen, remove the dregs, and take warm before meals.
