In cases of consumptive disease due to overwork and injury, both blood and qi are deficient, leading to disharmony between Yin and Yang. This is because the body exhibits patterns of excess (Sheng) and deficiency (Ruo). When Yang is in excess, heat occurs; when Yin is in excess, cold occurs. The mutual invasion of Yin and Yang results in the following treatment:
For treating consumptive disease with alternating chills and fever, inability to eat, emaciation and weakness of the four limbs, it is appropriate to take Huangqi San (Astragalus Powder).
