Deficiency consumption damages the Kidney. Insufficiency of Kidney Qi causes cold sweat in the yin region and spontaneous leakage of fluids. When Wind pathogen takes advantage of this deficiency, itching occurs.
Formula for treating dampness and itching under the scrotum with skin erosion: Wumei Wash Decoction (Mume Fruit Wash).
Ingredients: Fructus Mume (Wumei) (40 pieces), Qian (40 coins/worth, likely a specific herb or unit error in source, kept as is), Salt (3 qian), Vinegar (1 sheng).

Discussion states: The condition known as Hongxiangjiao (Foot Qi / Beriberi) was called "Huanfeng" (Slow Wind) before the Jin and Song dynasties, and referred to as "Jiaoruo" (Foot Weakness) in the book *Duanju*. There was no term "Hongxiangjiao" in ancient times, but the etiology stems from pathogenic influence... [text gap] ... sometimes headache and vexation, sometimes seasonal heat pain, sometimes extreme coldness of the body, numbness and impending paralysis of the feet and knees, sometimes muscle spasms (Zhuanjin), sometimes insensibility of the lower abdomen, sometimes swelling of the feet and sometimes not. If toxic qi attacks upward to the Heart, it leads to critical danger; the illness progresses rapidly without time to turn around, or if delayed, becomes fatal. Ancient formulas often used Fengyin Xuming Decoctions etc. to treat Qi toxicity; those with predominant Wind pathogen tend to recover. If treated according to the method for Foot Qi using medicines for Wind diseases, eight or nine out of ten cases would heal. If medicine matches the disease, there is ultimately no case that cannot be cured. Hongxiangjiao is not a death sentence; refusing treatment is self-destruction, not the disease killing the person. In the Jiangdong and Lingnan regions, the land is low and damp, and the climate differs; summer brings stifling heat and toxicity, winter is warm without snow. Damp-Wind pathogens easily injure people. Thus, the classics state: "Dampness invades deficiency, disease arises from below." Therefore, Wind-Toxicity often ascends from below. The feet first become weak and bent, then suffer from numbness and pain, the calves (Tibia region) swell slightly, the lower abdomen feels insensible, and sudden upward rush to the heart leads to critical distress. This disease often erupts at the end of spring and beginning of summer. Those in the capital city, such as unmarried women or young scholars, who contract this disease because they are not in the Jiang-Ling regions, are misdiagnosed by mediocre physicians as other ailments and treated incorrectly, resulting in death. Thus, Wind-Toxicity spreads throughout the world, not just in Jiang-Ling. Women's illnesses here are not due to Kidney deficiency, but arise from dwelling in low, damp places. Si... [text incomplete]
