临产当服补血顺气药。使胎易产。
川芎（一钱）、当归、白芍、熟地黄（各二钱）、人参、白术、陈皮、甘草（各一钱），少量佐以黄连、黄柏。桑上羊儿藤（需选取七片叶子完整的）、糯米（一钱）。若出现见血不安的症状，加入阿胶；若疼痛且气机阻滞，加入缩胎药方。胎儿至七个月后，适宜服用此方。
黄芩（夏季一两，秋季七钱，冬季五钱，用酒炒制）、茯苓（七钱五分）、白术（二两）、陈皮（三两），研为细末，用米粥调和制成丸剂。每次服用五分。
胎儿临近预产期时，服用束胎散有助于顺利分娩。
人参、陈皮（各五分）、白术、白芍、全当归（各一钱）、炙甘草（二分）、紫苏叶（五分）、大腹皮（二钱）。
难产的妇女，多因气血虚弱，导致营卫之气运行涩滞所致。本方用人参、白术、甘草来补益元气，当归、芍药来滋养血液，紫苏、大腹皮、陈皮来疏通阻滞的气机，从而使分娩变得容易。如果腹部胀满或疼痛，加入砂仁、枳壳、青葱（五叶）、黄杨脑（七个）。若有火热之象，加入黄芩；若头目眩晕闷乱，加入川芎。若气虚，加倍使用人参、白术；若气实，加入香附，加倍使用陈皮。若血虚，加倍使用当归，加入地黄。若体质壮实，加倍使用紫苏。若性情急躁，加入黄连。若热极，加入黄芩。若湿痰重，加入海浮石、半夏。若食积，加入山楂。若食后易饥，加入黄杨脑。若腹痛，加入木香、官桂、黄芩（冬季不可使用肉桂）。
临产时应服用补血顺气的药物，使胎儿易于产出。
（兼治小产后瘀血引起的腹痛。）
南木香、当归、川芎、白芍、枳壳、乳香、血余（即洗净的头发煅烧成灰，与上述药材等分），用水煎煮，每日服用两次。（各药均用五分）
Chuanxiong Rhizoma (1 qian), Danggui Radix, Baishao Cortex Moutan (2 qian each), Shudi Prepared Root of Rehmannia (2 qian each), Renshen Ginseng Radix (1 qian), Baizhu Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (1 qian), Chenpi Dried Tangerine Peel (1 qian), Gancao Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (1 qian), with a small amount of Huanglian Coptidis Rhizoma and Huangbai Phellodendri Cortex. Sangshangyangerteng Stem of Celastrus orbiculatus growing on mulberry tree (select those with seven complete leaves), Nuomi Glutinous Rice (1 qian). If there is anxiety due to bleeding, add Ejiao Donkey-hide Gelatin; if there is pain with qi stagnation, add the formula for restraining the fetus. After the seventh month of pregnancy, this formula is suitable.
Huangqin Scutellariae Radix (1 liang in summer, 7 qian in autumn, 5 qian in winter, stir-fried with wine), Fuling Poria (7.5 qian), Baizhu Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (2 liang), Chenpi Dried Tangerine Peel (3 liang), ground into fine powder, made into pills with rice porridge. Take 0.5 qian per dose.
When the fetus approaches term, taking Shutai San (Fetus-Restraining Powder) facilitates easy delivery.
Renshen Ginseng Radix, Chenpi Dried Tangerine Peel (0.5 qian each), Baizhu Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, Baishao Cortex Moutan, Quandangui Whole Radix of Angelica sinensis (1 qian each), Zhi Gancao Honey-fried Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (0.2 qian), Ziye Perilla Leaf (0.5 qian), Dafupi Areca Seed Peel (2 qian).
Women with difficult labor often suffer from deficiency of qi and blood, causing sluggish circulation of Ying and Wei (nutritive and defensive qi). This formula uses Renshen, Baizhu, and Gancao to tonify qi; Danggui and Shaoyao to nourish blood; Zisu, Fupi, and Chenpi to regulate stagnant qi, thereby making delivery easier. If there is abdominal distension or pain, add Sharen Amomum Fruit, Zhike Aurantium Fructus Immaturus, Qingcong Green Onion Bulb (5 leaves), Huayangnao Buxus Seed. If there is heat, add Huangqin Scutellariae Radix; if there is dizziness and oppression of the head and eyes, add Chuanxiong Rhizoma. If qi is deficient, double the dosage of Renshen and Baizhu; if qi is excess, add Xiangfu Cyperi Rhizoma and double Chenpi. If blood is deficient, double Danggui and add Dihuang Prepared Root of Rehmannia. If the constitution is robust, double Zisu. If the temperament is irritable, add Huanglian. If heat is extreme, add Huangqin. If damp-phlegm is heavy, add Haishi Floating Lithomarge and Banxia Pinelliae Tuber. If food stagnation exists, add Shanzhaw Hawthorn Fruit. If hunger occurs easily after eating, add Huayangnao. If abdominal pain occurs, add Muxiang Aucklandiae Radix, Guigui Cassia Bark, Huangqin Scutellariae Radix (Cassia Bark should not be used in winter).
At the time of delivery, one should take herbs that tonify blood and smooth qi to facilitate fetal expulsion.
