Radix Sanguisorbae (Siyu, four liang) Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (Gancao, one and a half liang) Fructus Amomi Rotundus (Suosharen, four to seven pods)
The above ingredients are crushed into coarse powder. Each dose is three qian. Add one zhan of water, decoct until reduced to seven-tenths, remove the dregs, and take warm on an empty stomach.
It treats deficiency of Ying and Wei Qi (Nutritive and Defensive Qi), where wind-cold pathogenic factors invade the interior of the Zang-Fu organs. This may be caused by consuming raw or cold foods, eating roasted/grilled foods, or excessive alcohol consumption, leading to accumulated heat in the intestines. This causes Spleen deficiency, failure of waste materials to consolidate, bright red blood in the stool, pain in the umbilical and abdominal regions, tenesmus (a feeling of incomplete defecation with urgency), prolapse of the anus, chronic dysentery due to alcohol (Jiu Li), and frequent bowel movements. All these conditions can be treated with this formula.
Charred Palm Fiber (Baizhong, charred) Charred Ficus Hirta Fruit (Mumantou, charred) Dried Plum (Wumei, pitted) Charred Licorice Root (Fengcao, charred, equal parts)
The above ingredients are ground into fine powder. Each dose is two qian. Add one zhan of water, decoct until reduced to seven-tenths, and take warm on an empty stomach.
I once treated a woman with continuous hematochezia (blood in stool). Using Zhufu Wan (Boiled Aconite Pill) added with Lingzhi (Trogopterus Dung), it was effective. (See Volume 1 for the formula.)
Hemorrhoids in women are all caused by wine, sexual indulgence, anger, wind pathogens, diet, and labor injuring the meridians and collaterals, causing blood to seep out and form hemorrhoids. Some also develop from prolonged sitting over many years. There are five types of hemorrhoids: sores like papillae appearing outside the anal verge, discharging pus and blood occasionally, are called Mu Hemorrhoids; swelling at the anal verge with sores and bleeding, are called Pin Hemorrhoids; sores at the anal verge that itch then hurt, are called Mai Hemorrhoids; swelling at the anal verge with nodular pain, accompanied by chills and fever and bleeding, are called Chang Hemorrhoids; clear blood flowing out with stool due to straining during defecation, are called Xue Hemorrhoids. Each type has its specific treatment formula.

Diaochang Wan (Hook Intestine Pill) and Heiyu Dan (Black Jade Pill) from Ju Fang (Formulas of the Imperial Medical Bureau) are both effective when taken.
I once treated a woman who suffered from long-term illness, irritability, and anger, which led to hemorrhoids resembling "Lianzi" fruits, with hot swelling and pain. I used Bear Bile (Xiong Dan) and Borneolum Syntheticum (Meihua Nao/Bingpian) ground together, mixed with Pig Bile (Zhudan Zhi), and applied it to the hemorrhoids, resulting in immediate cure. (From Zhang's Formulas)
Another formula: To treat hemorrhoids with heat, swelling, and pain. (Formula of Scholar Wu)

Grind until smooth/paste-like. Add one zi amount of ground Borneolum Syntheticum (Longnao) and Ban Pi Zi (Banpi) half a qian. Grind evenly and apply topically to cure. It is especially excellent to first fumigate and wash the area with water boiled from Ficus tikoua Bur. (Master Zhao Shangshu of Wuyang said: His mother suffered from this condition, and using only slugs and Jingmo (Beijing Inkstick) ground and applied was also effective.)
