Discussion: Kou Pi (Facial Paralysis/Deviation of Mouth and Eye) occurs due to body deficiency allowing wind pathogen invasion; the wind enters the tendons flanking the mouth. The tendons of the Foot-Yangming Meridian ascend and flank the mouth. When these tendons are deficient on one side, wind exploits the deficiency, causing unilateral tendon spasm and dysfunction, resulting in deviation of the mouth and eye.
