The Qi and Blood of the human body circulate throughout the body without stopping. If a child falls from a bed, drops from a height, or suffers injury from being struck or bumped, the Qi and Blood may lose their normal rhythm and stagnate at the site of injury. Alternatively, the blood may flow into the abdomen, where it becomes stasis and accumulates without dispersing. This can lead to emaciation, sallow complexion, intermittent pain, slight aversion to cold, and slight fever. In severe cases, tendons and bones may be injured, resulting in immobility. The following formulas are described:
Puhuang San (Polygoni Orientalis Pollen Powder)
Indicated for children with Qi and Blood stagnation due to falling or bumping injuries, or when broken blood enters the abdomen and fails to disperse, causing pain accompanied by alternating chills and fever, emaciation, and sallow complexion.
Ingredients: Puhuang (Polygoni Orientalis Pollen), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, remove rootlets, wash, and bake), Sheng Gan Dihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, each 1 liang); Hupo (Succinum, separately ground), Chishao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex, each 0.5 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 1 qian per dose, decoct with one small cup of water until reduced to half a cup, strain, and take warm. Administer at any time.
