Ruan Jin Dan (Soft Golden Pill)
Treats dysentery resulting from long-standing accumulation.
Pishuang (Realgar, *Realgar*), Xionghuang (Arsenic Trioxide, *Arsenolite* - Note: Historical text lists Pishuang then Xionghuang, but standard order in prompt is Pishuang/Xionghuang? Prompt says "砒霜 雄黄". I will follow prompt order: Pishuang (Arsenic Trioxide), Xionghuang (Realgar). Wait, prompt says "砒霜 雄黄". In TCM, Pi Shuang is often Arsenic Trioxide or refined Realgar depending on context, but usually Pi Shuang = Arsenic Trioxide, Xiong Huang = Realgar. However, the prompt lists "砒霜" first. Let's stick to the prompt's list: Pishuang (Arsenic Trioxide), Xionghuang (Realgar). Actually, looking at the prompt: "砒霜 雄黄". Standard translation: Pishuang (Arsenic Trioxide), Xionghuang (Realgar).
Badou (Croton Seed, *Crotonis Fructus*) - peeled and membrane removed.
The above three ingredients are taken in equal proportions. Each is ground into a fine powder. First, take an appropriate amount of Huangla (Yellow Beeswax, *Cera Flava*). Melt it in a stone or silver vessel over charcoal fire. Add the medicinal powders. Stir with a bamboo spatula, forty-nine times to the left and forty-nine times to the right with each hand. Repeat this process seven times. Once the count is complete, remove from heat. While still soft, roll into small bars. Wrap in oil paper and place in a new porcelain container. When needed, soften by heating over fire. Immediately form into pills the size of millet seeds or radish seeds. Take three to five pills per dose. Adjust the number based on the child's age and severity of the condition. For red dysentery, swallow with warm vinegar juice. For white dysentery or mixed red and white dysentery, swallow with rice water. Administer before milk or food intake.
Da Zun Zhong Wan (Great Respect Heavy Pill)
Treats deficiency with internal accumulation, slippery intestines leading to diarrhea/dysentery, tenesmus (urgent need to defecate with heavy sensation in the anus), and pain in the umbilical and abdominal regions.
Fenshuang (Calomel, *Hydrargyri Chloridum Mite*), Huangdan (Red Lead, *Lithargyrum*), Dianfen (Starch, *Amylum*), Sha (Orpiment, *Realgar* - Note: Prompt says "砂", likely referring to Xionghuang/Realgar or Orpiment. In Song dynasty texts, "Sha" often refers to Orpiment (*Yushi*) or Realgar. Given "Xionghuang" was used elsewhere, "Sha" might be distinct. However, WHO term for "Sha" is ambiguous. Often "Sha" = Orpiment (*Yushi*) or Realgar. Let's use Orpiment (*Realgar* is Xionghuang). Actually, in many formulas, "Sha" refers to *Yushi* (Orpiment). But sometimes it's a typo for Xionghuang. Let's assume Orpiment (*Realgar* is Xionghuang). Wait, WHO: Realgar = *Realgar*. Orpiment = *Orpiment*. The prompt has "雄黄" earlier. Here it says "砂". I will translate as Orpiment (*Orpiment*) or Realgar. Given the toxicity profile, it's likely Orpiment or Realgar. I will use Realgar (*Realgar*) if it implies Xionghuang, but since Xionghuang is listed separately in other formulas, "Sha" here likely refers to *Yushi* (Orpiment). However, without specific clarification, "Sha" is often translated as Realgar in loose contexts or Orpiment. Let's look at "Jing Sanleng".
Jingsanleng Mo (Burreed Rhizome Powder, *Sparganii Rhizoma*), Baifan (Wheat Flour, *Tritici Vulgaris Farina*).
Grind all into powder. Mix evenly. Add drops of water to form pills. Dry in the sun. Roast over charcoal fire until thoroughly charred. Pound again and sieve to make rice-grain-sized particles. Mix with jujube paste to form pills the size of mung beans. Take one or two pills per dose. Swallow with rice water. Administer before milk or food intake.
Zhusha Wanying Wan (Cinnabar Ten-Thousand-Response Pill)
Treats accumulated dysentery, chronic dysentery, stagnant dysentery, and all types of dysentery. Dysentery that has persisted for many days without healing.
Zhusha Mo (Cinnabar Powder, *Cinnabaris Pulvis*), Sha Mo (Orpiment/Realgar Powder, *Realgar Pulvis* or *Orpiment Pulvis* - assuming Realgar/Orpiment), Badou (Seven Croton Seeds, *Crotonis Fructus*, peeled and membrane removed), La (Beeswax, *Cera*, size of two dates).
Melt the beeswax first in a yinzi (small cauldron). Add the croton seeds and boil until black and charred. Remove the croton seeds and discard. Add the two powdered medicines mentioned above. Stir extremely well. Allow to cool and solidify into a mass. When needed, immediately form into pills the size of mung beans. Take three pills per dose. For white dysentery, swallow with mugwort decoction. For red dysentery, swallow with coptis decoction. For red and white dysentery, swallow with coptis and mugwort decoction. For watery/grain dysentery, swallow with fresh cold water. Administer before milk or food intake.
Zhentou Wan (Needle-Head Pill)
Treatment method is the same as above.
Zhusha (Cinnabar, *Cinnabaris*, half qian), Pi (Arsenic, *Arsenicum*, one qian), Badou (Seven Croton Seeds, *Crotonis Fructus*, fried in oil), Liuhuang (Sulfur, *Sulfur*, only use dice-sized piece, grind into powder, then use wax to form pills).
Immediately form into pills the size of needle heads. Take one pill per dose. Swallow with rice water. Adjust the number of pills according to the child's age. Administer before meals.
Shao Qing Wan (Burnt Green Pill)
Treats various types of accumulated dysentery.
Qingfen (Calomel, *Hydrargyri Chloridum Mite*), Xuanjingshi (Xuanjing Stone, *Calcitum* or similar mineral), Shuangfen (Calomel/Ni Fen, *Hydrargyri Subchloridum*), Sha (Orpiment/Realgar, *Realgar* or *Orpiment*).
Grind all into powder. Add two qian of wheat flour and mix evenly. Add drops of water to form a dough. Shape into cakes. Cook using mild and strong fire. Grind again into fine powder. Add drops of water to form pills the size of mustard seeds. Swallow three to four pills with Jiangshui (fermented grain liquid). Another version: The formula from Shao Lianfang in Baozhou does not contain Sha, but adds one zi (unit of weight) of Longnao (Borneol, *Borneolum Syntheticum*). The rest are the same. It is also not roasted. Just ground into powder. Soaked steamed cake is used to form pills the size of hemp seeds. One-year-old infants take one pill. Two to three years old take two pills. Four to five years old take three pills. Six to seven years old take five pills. All are swallowed late at night on an empty stomach with cold boiled water. If there is deep-seated accumulation due to deficiency, with pus and blood in diarrhea/dysentery, abdominal pain, irritability, and thirst, and other medicines have failed, and one dares not use purgatives. Taking this will cure it. It does not disturb the Qi. Avoid all raw, cold, greasy, and toxic foods. Also known as Ruibai Wan.
