Treatment for Gan diarrhea: Grind Chishizhi (Red Halloysite) into a powder. Mix with rice gruel and administer half a qian; recovery is immediate. Another method: grind Chuanxiong (Szechwan Lovage Rhizome) in equal parts into fine powder and take orally; this is excellent.

Luhui Wan (Aloe Pill)
Treats various types of Gan syndrome in children.
Ingredients: Luhui (Aloe), Binglang (Areca Seed), Wuyi (Chaulmoogra Seed, stir-fried to extract the kernel), Huhuanglian (Picrorhiza Root), Chuan Kulian (Melia Toosendan Fruit, sliced with seeds and stir-fried), Shijunzi Ren (Quince Seed Kernel), Leiwan (Polyporus Umbellatus, soaked and scraped to remove black skin, each 1 fen), Jupi (Citrus Peel, half liang, washed clean), Badou (Croton Seed, 49 seeds, peeled and membrane removed, stir-fried together with citrus peel until the croton seeds are scorched; retain only two and a half seeds, discard the rest, use all the citrus peel).
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Use pig bile to make a paste for binding, forming pills the size of hemp seeds. Coat with fine powder of Zhusha (Cinnabar) and Shexiang (Musk). Administer 10 or 15 pills per dose. If there is edema of the head and face, swallow with Mugua Tang (Papaya Decoction). If there is diarrhea accompanied by thirst, swallow with aged rice water. Adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.

Another Prescription (Same name, same indication)
Ingredients: Luhui (Aloe), Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome, remove stamens), Chuanlianzi (Toosendan Fruit, sliced with seeds), Wuyi (Chaulmoogra Seed, remove shell, each 3 fen), Tianzhu Huang (Bambusa Textilis Sap), Shexiang (Musk, a small amount, ground).
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Mix with pig bile and rice, grinding them into a paste. Steam twice in a steamer. Form pills the size of mung beans. Coat with Zhusha (Cinnabar). Administer 5 to 7 pills, up to 10 pills, with warm water. Take at any time.

Bixue Jian Wan (Turtle Blood Decoction Pill)
Treats various types of Gan syndrome in children.
Ingredients: Wuzhuyu (Evodia Fruit), Huhuanglian (Picrorhiza Root, crushed, soaked overnight in turtle blood, stir-fried together with Wuzhuyu until dry and scorched, discard Wuzhuyu), Bai Wuyi Ren (Chaulmoogra Seed Kernel), Chaihu (Bupleurum Root, remove rhizome, equal parts).
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Soak steamed bread cake in pig bile, mix and form pills the size of mung beans. Administer 10 pills per dose with warm water. Take at any time.

Zhuogan Wan (Gan-Catching Pill)
Treats all types of Gan syndrome in children. First, soak maggot casings (Qutui) in rice washing water for three days. Stir and beat with a stick, then filter. Soak again in rice washing water for three to five days, stir, beat, wash, and filter as before. Then immerse in clear water, wash, and soak for two days until no foul odor remains and it is clean. Dry in the sun. For male patients, use Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome); for female patients, use Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark). Mix these with the dried maggot casings in equal parts and grind into powder. For every half liang of herbal powder, add half a qian of Shexiang (Musk), grind uniformly. Mix with pig bile to form pills the size of millet grains. Administer 30 to 40 pills per dose, adjusting according to age. Take on an empty stomach with aged rice water. This is highly effective and reliable. Another method: In June, collect maggots from cesspools, wash clean with water, place in a bamboo tube, seal tightly, and dry until ready to be ground into powder. Take 1 to 2 qian per dose, mixed with rice water and Musk; this is very excellent.

Xiaogan Wan (Gan-Resolving Pill)
Treats various types of abdominal distension, swelling and fullness of the four limbs, wheezing and shortness of breath due to qi rebellion, and difficulty urinating in children.
Ingredients: Muxiang (Aucklandia Root), Binglang (Areca Seed, each 2 liang), Qingpi (Green Citrus Peel, remove pith), Jianghuang (Turmeric Rhizome), Luobozǐ (Radish Seed, stir-fried), Qianniuzi (Pharbitis Seed, each take 7.5 qian).
Grind into powder. Use paste to form pills the size of millet grains. Administer 20 to 30 pills per dose after meals, swallowed with ginger soup. Take at any time.

For treating all types of Gan disease in children: Mix Ji Zhen (Hedgehog Needle) and Gadi (Melon Stalk) in equal parts into powder. Take an amount the size of a millet grain, blow into the nose. Use twice daily.

For treating various Gan syndromes in children: Take Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome) in any quantity, boil together with Wu Mei (Chinese Plum) until the Coptis is thoroughly cooked. Use only the Coptis, grind into powder. Separately, mix Wu Mei flesh to form pills the size of hemp seeds. Administer 20 pills per dose with warm water. Take at any time. Adjust dosage according to age and size.

Xiongdan Shexiang Wan (Bear Bile and Musk Pill)
Treats all types of Gan disease in children, characterized by deficiency and distension of the heart and abdomen, craving for eating soil, and intense heat in the four limbs.
Ingredients: Xiongdan (Bear Bile, 1 qian, ground), Shexiang (Musk, half a qian, ground), Bigong (Beewort, one piece, remove head, feet, and tail, wrap in mud and bake until cooked, then grind), Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome, remove stamens, take 1 qian of powder).
Grind all ingredients together until extremely fine. Mix with Chan Su (Toad Venom) to form pills the size of millet grains. Administer 5 pills per dose with rice soup. Adjust dosage according to age and size. Take at any time.

Xiangchan San (Fragrant Toad Powder)
Treats Shi Gan (Food Gan) in children, characterized by emaciation and refusal of milk and food.
Ingredients: Ganchan (Dried Toad, one piece, coated with butter and roasted until slightly yellow), Qianglang (Dung Beetle, 1 fen, remove wings and feet, lightly stir-fried), Maiya (Sprouted Barley, 1 fen, lightly stir-fried), Shenqu (Medicated Leaven, 1 fen, lightly stir-fried).
Grind together into fine powder. Take half a qian per dose, mixed with rice gruel. Take at any time.

Another Prescription (Same treatment as above)
Ingredients: Zhusha (Cinnabar, 1 qian, ground and wet-ground with water), Shexiang (Musk, half a qian, ground), Chan Meizhi (Toad Eyebrow Grease collected on Dragon Boat Festival day).
Mix the Toad Eyebrow Grease with the other two ingredients to form pills the size of hemp seeds. Take one pill on an empty stomach with rice drink. If it is Nao Gan (Brain Gan), mix with breast milk and apply to the nose. Take at any time.

Treatment for Nai Gan (Milk Gan) with watery diarrhea: Take 1 fen of Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper), remove the seeds and those that are closed. Grind into powder. Mix with a small amount of butter and apply to the fontanelle. Apply three times over three days.

Treatment for Gan Dysentery in critical condition: Boil Yimucao (Motherwort Herb) and eat it. Consume enough to achieve recovery; this is very good. One can also drink the juice. This method is also excellent for treating hemorrhoids. Boil Diyü (Sanguisorba Root) to make juice, mix with maltose, and eat. Alternatively, decoct Chubai Pi (Tree-of-Heaven Bark) with Cangjingmi (Old Rice), Congbai (Scallion White), Gancao (Licorice Root), and Xiangchi (Prepared Soybean Ferment), and drink the decoction.

Treatment for Gan Thirst in children, drinking water excessively: Take one large fish. First, burn a pit in the ground until red-hot. Throw the fish into the pit. Have someone sprinkle Ge Fen (Clam Powder) specifically onto the fish. After a moment, take it out. Scrape off the powder using a reed knife. Mix with a small amount of Shexiang (Musk). Form pills the size of radish seeds. Take 5 pills per dose, swallowed with decoction of Tongsheng Gen (Barrel Rope Root). Another method says: Make pills fresh with cold water and take them.

Wugan Wan (Five-Gan Pill)
Treats all types of Gan syndrome in children. Chuanlianzi (Toosendan Fruit) and Chuanxiong (Szechwan Lovage Rhizome) in equal parts. Grind into fine powder. Use Jiangshui (fermented liquid) to boil Zhu Dan (Pig Gallbladder) to extract juice. Mix with the powder to form pills the size of hemp seeds. Take 10 to 20 pills per dose with warm water. Take 3 to 4 times daily.

Treatment for incurable Gan Qi in children: Calcinate Lvfan (Green Vitriol) in fire until red-hot. Quench in strong vinegar. Repeat this process three times. Grind finely into powder. Mix with jujube flesh to form pills the size of mung beans. Take 5 to 7 pills per dose with warm water. Take at any time. Take 2 to 3 times daily.

Taoliu Tang (Peach and Willow Decoction)
Applicable to all types of Gan syndrome. After taking various medicines, this method can always be used. Take one handful each of Taolizhi (Peach Twig) and Liulizhi (Willow Twig), chop them. Use two large bowls of water, boil for several boils. Bathe the child in the water when the temperature is suitable. This is very effective. After bathing, cover the child with a blue garment. The emergence of Gan insects is a sign of efficacy.
