*Nashii Bingyuan* (Chao Yuanfang's *General Treatise on the Causes and Manifestations of Diseases*) on the syndrome of deficiency and emaciation after pediatric diarrhea: The intestines and stomach are weak; upon exposure to wind-cold, diarrhea occurs. The cold and heat in the intestines and stomach are unbalanced, transforming into dysentery. If it persists without healing, the spleen and stomach become weak, the qi of grain and food decreases, and the blood and qi fail to nourish the body, leading to emaciated muscles and body.
