《巢氏病源》小儿头疮候∶有腑脏有热，热气上冲于头，而复有风湿乘之，湿热相搏折血气而变生疮也。
《婴童宝鉴》∶小儿头疮，是六阳受热而为之，六阳之脉食在于头，故热乘于阳不流而为之也。
《千金》治小儿一切头疮久即疽，痒不生痂。藜芦膏方
藜芦 黄连 雄黄 黄芩 松脂（各二两） 猪脂（半斤） 矾石（五两）
上七味末之，煎令调和，先以赤龙皮、天麻汤洗讫，敷之。（赤龙皮 木皮是也。）

令星尽用。
《千金翼》治小儿热疮，身头热烦。蚀疮方
上以梓白皮汤洗之，并封敷嫩叶，主烂疮。
《外台》范汪疗伤寒白膏 摩体中手当千遍，药力乃行，并疗恶疮、小儿头疮、牛领马鞍皆疗之。先以盐汤洗
恶疮，布拭之，着膏疮肿上摩，向火千遍，日再，自消方。
天雄 乌头（炮） 莽草 羊踯躅（各三两）
上四味各切，以苦酒三升渍一宿，作东向露灶，又作十二聚湿土各一升许成。煎猪脂三斤，着铜器中，加
灶上炊，以苇薪为火令膏释，内所渍药，炊令沸，下，着土聚上，沸定顷上火煎，如此十二过，令土聚尽
遍，药成绞去滓。伤寒头痛酒服如杏核一枚，温覆取汗；咽痛，含如枣核，日三咽之。不可近目。（《千金》同。
忌猪肉等。）
《外台》∶《集验》治小儿头疮天麻草汤方
天麻草
切五升，以水一升半煎取一斗，随寒温分洗小儿头疮，洗毕敷飞乌膏散方。
细粉（烧朱砂作水银上，黑烟是也，熬令焦燥） 矾石（烧粉，三两）
上二味以绢筛了，以甲煎和之，令如脂，以敷头疮，日三。作散者不须和，有汁自着，可用散。亦敷诸热
疮，黄烂浸淫汁疮，蜜疮，丈夫阴蚀痒湿，诸小儿头疮疳蚀，口边肥疮，蜗疮等，并以此敷之。（天麻草叶如麻，冬生
夏着花，亦如鼠尾花。）
《外台》∶《救急》疗小儿头疮，经年不瘥，瘥而复发方。

上九味切， 咀，以苦酒浸一宿，以猪脂一大升煎，候白芷色黄膏成，去滓，入水银一两，以唾于手中研

上件药除水银、腻粉外捣，罗为末，以炼成猪脂半斤，煎成膏似稀面糊，放冷，取水银、腻粉于掌中，以
唾调如青泥，然后可入膏中相和，搅令匀，涂于疮上，不过三两上瘥。

紫草（二两，去无色枝干，捣末） 马肠根（捣末） 杏仁（汤浸，去皮，研。各一两） 雄黄（细研） 吴茱萸
（捣碎。各一分） 清麻油（八两）
上件药先以麻油于一净铛内煎，下杏仁、茱萸入于铛中，徐徐煎三两沸，即去火，以生绢滤去滓，次入紫
草、马肠草等末，又煎五七沸，再滤去滓，看膏稀稠得所，入雄黄末，搅令匀，用瓷盒盛，每使先以盐浆水
洗疮令净，拭干，以膏涂立效。
《圣惠》治小儿头疮，及白秃疮。鸡子膏方
新鸡子（七枚，去壳） 腻粉（半两） 麝香（一分，细研） 妇人油头发（一团如鸡子大）
上件药先将鸡子入铫子内熬，次下发令消，以绵滤过，入腻粉、麝香搅令匀，以瓷盒盛，每用先洗净、拭
干涂之。
《圣惠》治小儿头疮出脓水，瘥而复发方。

上件诸药入鱼肚内，以一寸甘草塞口中， 过为末，更入腻粉，油调敷之。
《保生信效》治一切风热疮，尤治小儿头疮方。
沥青 黄蜡（各半两） 脂麻油（一两） 巴豆（十四粒）
上先将沥青、黄蜡熬成汁，次入油，次入巴豆，不住搅，候巴豆焦黑即去巴豆不用，次入腻粉，秤二钱再
搅极匀，放冷，敷疮上。政和改元夏，予以干至 昌，驿吏合此药治其子，目睹随手即愈。
《惠眼观证》茱萸膏 治遍身疥疮及头疮方。

上将上二味为末，将油煎黄蜡、松糖，入葱头一寸共煎，候葱头赤色取出葱头，以前二味调匀，倾出收之，
如患者先以葱汤洗过，然后使之，不过三五上愈。
《张氏家传》诸小儿多害头疮，若不治长大遂成秃疮，或有终身无发者方。
上以肥珠子一两个，独子者最佳，无即不拘，存性烧灰，用油瓶底浓油脚调涂之，不过三两上，永除根本。

《吉氏家传》治小儿头疮，恶疮，久不愈者方。
臭橘叶（一握，取自然汁不计多少） 黄柏（末） 五灵脂（各二钱） 轻粉（炒，一钱匕）
上件为末，同橘油汁调涂疮上一时之间，用黑纸一张，掺在头上待一时取下，便有细白虫在黑纸上。
《吉氏家传》治小儿头上疮，及疳肥秃疮方。
《诸病源候论》中关于小儿头疮的论述：由于脏腑内有热，热气上冲至头部，又受到风湿之邪侵袭，湿热相互搏结，损伤气血，从而化生为疮疡。
《婴童宝鉴》认为：小儿头疮，是由于六阳经受热所致。六阳经的脉气汇聚于头部，因此热邪乘袭阳气，导致气血运行不畅而发为头疮。
《千金方》治疗小儿各种头疮，若久治不愈可能转为疽证，瘙痒且不长结痂。藜芦膏方：
药材：藜芦、黄连、雄黄、黄芩、松脂（各二两），猪脂（半斤），矾石（五两）。
制法与用法：将上述七味药研成细末，煎煮猪脂使其调和均匀。先用赤龙皮（即木皮）、天麻汤清洗患处，洗净后敷上此膏。
《千金方》治疗小儿头疮经久一年不愈的方子：
药材：松脂、苦参、黄连（各一两半），大黄、胡粉（各一两），黄芩、水银（各一两六铢），矾石（半两），蛇床子（十八铢）。
制法与用法：将上述九味药研成细末，用腊月收集的猪脂调和，研磨水银直至看不见银色星点，然后敷于患处。
《千金方》另一首方子：
取大虫脂（大型昆虫或动物的脂肪）直接敷于患处，也可治疗白秃疮。
《千金翼方》治疗小儿头疮的方子：
药材：胡粉（一两），黄连（二两）。
制法与用法：将这两味药捣碎研成细末，清洗疮面去除痂皮，擦干后敷药即可痊愈；若复发则再次敷药。此方也用于治疗阴部疮疡。
《千金翼方》另一首方子：
药材：胡粉、白松脂（各二两），水银（一两），猪脂肪（四两）。
制法与用法：将前四味药合煎，滤去药渣，加入水银和胡粉，搅拌调和后涂抹。成人也可使用。《圣惠方》与此相同，但需先将胡粉加少量水，与水银共同研磨至水银星点消失后再使用。
《千金翼方》治疗小儿热疮，伴有身头烦热的蚀疮方：
用梓白皮汤清洗患处，并用嫩叶封敷，主治溃烂性疮疡。
《外台秘要》收录范汪疗伤寒白膏方：
按摩身体中的“手当”穴位一千遍，药力才能发挥，同时可治疗恶疮、小儿头疮、牛颈部的马鞍疮等。先用盐汤清洗恶疮，用布擦干，将膏药涂在疮肿上，面向火源按摩一千遍，每日两次，疮肿自消。
药材：天雄、乌头（炮制）、莽草、羊踯躅（各三两）。
制法与用法：将上述四味药切碎，用三升醋浸泡一夜。搭建一个朝东的露灶，并准备十二堆湿土，每堆约一升。将三斤猪脂放入铜器中，放在灶上加热，用芦苇柴火使膏融化，投入浸泡过的药物，加热至沸腾。取出，放在土堆上冷却，再上火煎煮，如此反复十二次，直到用完所有的土堆。药成后绞去药渣。治疗伤寒头痛时，用酒送服如杏核大小的一枚，温覆取汗；治疗咽痛时，含服如枣核大小一枚，每日三次咽下。不可接触眼睛。（《千金方》记载相同。忌食猪肉等。）
《外台秘要》收录《集验方》治疗小儿头疮的天麻草汤方：
药材：天麻草。
制法与用法：切取五升天麻草，用水一斗半煎煮，取汁一斗。根据寒热情况分次清洗小儿头疮，洗完后敷上飞乌膏散方。
飞乌膏散方药材：细粉（烧朱砂产生的水银上黑烟，熬至焦燥），矾石（烧成粉，三两）。
制法与用法：将上述两味药过绢筛，用甲煎调和，使其呈脂状，敷于头疮，每日三次。若做成散剂则无需调和，若有渗出液自然附着即可使用散剂。此方也用于敷治各种热疮、黄水浸淫疮、蜜疮、男子阴部蚀痒湿疮、各类小儿头疮疳蚀、口边肥疮、蜗疮等。（天麻草叶子像麻叶，冬季生长，夏季开花，也像鼠尾花。）
《外台秘要》收录《救急方》治疗小儿头疮，经久一年不愈，治愈后又复发的方子：
药材：雄黄、雌黄（各研细），大黄、黄柏、黄芩、姜黄、白芷、当归、青木香（各四分）。
制法与用法：将上述九味药切碎，用醋浸泡一夜，用一大升猪脂煎煮，待白芷变黄、膏成时，滤去药渣，加入一两水银，用唾液在手中研磨至水银消散，混入膏中搅匀，收于瓷器中。每次使用前，先用皂角汤清洗疮面，擦干后涂膏，日夜更换两次，以痊愈为度。
《外台秘要》收录《古今录验方》治疗小儿头疮，面部也有且日渐加重的方子：
药材：黄连、赤小豆（各等分）。
制法与用法：将两味药捣成粉末，用腊月猪脂调和涂抹，即可痊愈停止发展。
《子母秘录》治疗小儿头疮及女人面疮的方子：
用菟丝汤清洗患处。
《子母秘录》治疗小儿头上长疮，头发不再生长的方子：
将楸叶捣汁，涂抹于疮处，头发即可再生，兼治白秃疮。
《子母秘录》治疗小儿头疮，耳朵上方生疮的方子：
将竹叶烧成灰，与猪脂调和涂抹，再用鸡蛋清敷贴，效果也很好。
《子母秘录》治疗小儿头上长疮，以及白秃不长头发、有渗液的方子：
取七个鸡蛋，去掉蛋壳，在铜器中熬炼，取油涂抹。
陈藏器主张治疗小儿头疮、唇疮、耳后月蚀疮的方子：
用甲煎敷贴。
陈藏器治疗小儿头疮、痈肿阴疮的方子：
蒺藜子可磨成粉摩擦，其叶子主治风痒，可煮水沐浴。
胜金右治疗小儿头上生恶疮的方子：
用黄土聚集豆豉煨熟，冷却后取出豆豉，研成细末，用纯菜油调敷，可痊愈。
《食疗》治疗小儿患头疮的方子：
将马骨烧成灰，与醋调和敷贴。也治疗身上疮、白秃疮，用杂色马未排空的尿，多次温热清洗，洗十次可愈。
《唐本草注》治疗小儿头疮的方子：
生嚼胡麻涂抹，又嚼白油麻涂抹。（胡麻角呈八棱形的是巨麻，胜过四棱形的才是胡麻，都以黑色的为佳，白色的为劣。）
《药性论》治疗小儿头疮的方子：
捣碎蓼叶成末，与白蜜调和（另一种说法是和鸡蛋清）涂抹，虫子出来后不会留疤。
《圣惠方》治疗小儿头上生恶疮的方子：
药材：人粪灰、狗粪灰、猪粪灰、皂角灰、香豉（炒至微焦）、白矾灰（以上各半两）。
制法与用法：将上述药物捣碎，过细罗成为散剂。每次使用时，用生油调涂患处，每日更换一次，以痊愈为度。
《圣惠方》治疗小儿头疮，久治不愈，恶汁不断流出的方子：
药材：黄连（去须）、黄柏（锉碎）、白矾（烧成灰，各一两），蛇床子（半两），胡粉（三分）。
制法与用法：将上述药物捣碎，过细罗成为散剂，用熬熟的猪脂调成膏状，每日涂抹两次，有效。
《圣惠方》治疗小儿头疮及恶疮的方子：
药材：香豉、麻油（各二合），臭黄（半两），葱白（四两，细切）。
制法与用法：先将油煎熟，加入香豉等药，熬至冒烟，熟透后捣碎，贴敷于疮上，用物品严密包裹，有效。
《圣惠方》另一首方子：
药材：黄连（一两，去须），吴茱萸（生用），腻粉，杏仁（汤浸去皮，各半两），麻油（一合）。
制法与用法：将上述药物捣碎，过罗成为末，加入麻油和杏仁共同研磨如膏状。每次涂药前，先用盐水浆清洗患处，擦干后涂于疮上，每日使用两次。
《圣惠方》治疗小儿头疮久治不愈的青砂散方：
药材：水银（用少量枣肉研磨至星点消失），硫黄，川椒（去目），腻粉，缩砂（去皮，各一分），竹叶，狗头骨（各半两，烧成灰）。
制法与用法：将上述药物捣碎，过细罗成为散剂，研磨水银使其均匀，用生油调涂，立即见效。

制法与用法：除水银、腻粉外，将其他药物捣碎，过罗成为末，用炼成的猪脂半斤煎成稀面糊状的膏，放冷。取水银、腻粉于掌心，用唾液调如青泥状，然后混入膏中搅匀，涂于疮上，不超过三次即可痊愈。
《圣惠方》治疗小儿头疮经久一年不愈、治愈后又复发的，宜用雄黄膏方：
药材：雄黄、雌黄（各细研），黄柏、黄芩、姜黄、白芷、当归、木香（各一两）。
制法与用法：除雄黄、雌黄外，将其他药物细锉，用头醋浸泡一夜，用一斤猪脂煎煮，待白芷变为赤黄色，膏成时，滤去药渣，加入一两水银，用唾液在掌中研磨至星点消失，混入膏内搅匀，再加入雄黄、雌黄等粉末，再次搅匀，用瓷盒盛装。每次使用前，先用盐水浆清洗疮面令净，擦干，涂以膏药。
《圣惠方》治疗小儿头疮的紫草膏方：
药材：紫草（二两，去掉无色的枝干，捣成末），马肠根（捣成末），杏仁（汤浸，去皮，研，各一两），雄黄（细研），吴茱萸（捣碎，各一分），清麻油（八两）。
制法与用法：先将麻油在干净的铛内煎煮，下入杏仁、茱萸，慢慢煎煮两三沸，离火，用生绢滤去药渣。接着加入紫草、马肠草等粉末，再煎煮五到七沸，再次滤去药渣。观察膏的稀稠适度，加入雄黄末，搅匀，用瓷盒盛装。每次使用前，先用盐水浆清洗疮面令净，擦干，涂以膏药，立竿见影。
《圣惠方》治疗小儿头疮，以及白秃疮的鸡子膏方：
药材：新鸡蛋（七枚，去壳），腻粉（半两），麝香（一分，细研），妇人油头发（一团，如鸡蛋大小）。
制法与用法：先将鸡蛋放入铫子内熬炼，接着放入头发使其熔化，用绵布过滤，加入腻粉、麝香搅匀，用瓷盒盛装。每次使用前先洗净、擦干后涂抹。
《圣惠方》治疗小儿头疮出脓水，治愈后又复发的方子：
药材：豆豉（炒微焦）、鳖甲（烧成灰，各一两），腻粉（一分），皂角（一挺，长约三寸，烧成灰）。
制法与用法：将上述药物捣碎，过细罗成为散剂。每次使用时用生油调涂，立竿见影。
《圣惠方》另一首方子：
药材：杏核（一百粒，烧成灰），腻粉（一分）。
制法与用法：将上述药物细研成为散剂。每次使用时用生油调涂。
《圣惠方》另一首方子：
药材：水银、胡粉（各半两），黄连（末，一两）。
制法与用法：将上述药物混合，加入少量水，研磨水银至星点消失，用生油调涂。
《圣惠方》治疗小儿头疮久治不愈的方子：
药材：梁上尘（五合），青矾（半分）。
制法与用法：将上述药物细研成为散剂。每次使用时用生油调涂。
《圣惠方》治疗小儿头疮，积年不愈的方子：
取槟榔，用水磨碎，用纸衬垫晒干，用生油调涂。
《圣惠方》另一首方子：
将鸡蛋壳烧成灰，细研，用腊月猪脂调和，涂之有效。鸡粪炒成末，敷贴也很好。
《圣惠方》另一首方子：
取乌梅肉，烧成灰，细研，用生油调涂。
《圣惠方》另一首方子：
将吴茱萸炒至焦黑，细研，加入腻粉，用口脂（唇膏类油脂）调涂。
《圣惠方》另一首方子：
用菖蒲末，生油调涂。
《圣惠方》治疗小儿头疮及恶疮，以及浸淫疮，都宜用此方：
生嚼油麻，敷贴有效。
《圣惠方》治疗疥癣疮，经久一年不愈的水银膏方：
药材：水银，白矾，蛇床子（末），雄黄，茹（末，各一两）。
制法与用法：将上述药物放入炼好的猪脂半斤中共同研磨，待水银星点消失后即可敷用，每日三次，不超过三次。兼治小儿头疮，效果很好。
《圣惠方》治疗头疮经年月不愈的松脂膏方：
药材：黄连（四两，去须），茹，胡粉，黄柏（锉碎，各一两）。
制法与用法：将上述药物捣碎，过罗成为末，用乌麻油调成膏状。若小儿先用淘米水清洗，大人则用淘米水和皂角清洗，然后涂药，不超过三次即可痊愈。
茅先生治疗小儿远年旧头疮的方子：
药材：苦楝子（十四个），杏仁（七个）。
制法与用法：将上述药物烧成灰，研成末，加入腻粉，用生油调涂于疮上。
《婴孺方》治疗小儿头疮的方子：
药材：巴豆（十四个），胡粉（如枣大一团），水银（如大豆大四块）。
制法与用法：取汞粉、巴豆研磨至青色或赤色脂状，涂于疮上，切勿接近阴部和眼睛。
《婴孺方》治疗小儿头疮的苦参汤洗方：
药材：苦参、黄连、甘草、大黄、当归、川芎、黄芩（各一两），蒺藜子（四两）。
制法与用法：用水六升，煮取三升，沾湿帛巾清洗疮面，每日三次。
《婴孺方》治疗小儿头疮，经久一年不愈的方子：
药材：松脂（六分），大黄（四分），苦参（五分）。
制法与用法：研成末，用腊月猪脂研磨如膏，敷贴。也可加少量水调和以增效。
《婴孺方》治疗小儿头疮，经久一年不愈的松脂子母膏方：
药材：松脂、黄连（各六分），大黄、胡粉（各四分），苦参、屋尘、水银、蛇床子、黄芩（各五分），矾石（二分，烧至汁尽）。
制法与用法：研成末，用猪脂研磨均匀后敷贴。
《婴濡方》治疗小儿遍头生疮的方子：
药材：水银、松脂、胡粉（各二两），腊月猪脂（半斤，炼成油）。
制法与用法：全部放入铜器中，火上煮熟，研磨待汞完全消散、膏成后，用其敷贴，再撒散剂覆盖。
另附一方：黄连（末，五两），水银（一两），乌贼鱼骨（三两，炙）。
制法与用法：研磨水银至消散，将粉末敷于膏上。也有用白蔹研磨水银使其消散的方法。清洗疮面可用桃叶煮汤，或用桃皮、野狼牙草，都很好。
《婴童宝鉴》治疗小儿头疮的方子：
药材：头发、灶上土（各弹丸大小），鱼头、巴豆（各一个）。
制法与用法：将上述药物放入鱼肚内，用一寸长的甘草塞住鱼口，烤熟后研成末，再加入腻粉，用油调敷。
《保生信效》治疗一切风热疮，尤其治疗小儿头疮的方子：
药材：沥青、黄蜡（各半两），脂麻油（一两），巴豆（十四粒）。
制法与用法：先将沥青、黄蜡熬成汁，其次加入油，再次加入巴豆，不停搅拌，待巴豆焦黑后即去掉巴豆不用，其次加入腻粉，称取二钱，再搅拌极匀，放冷后敷于疮上。政和改元那年夏天，我到达昌州，驿吏配制此药治疗他的儿子，亲眼目睹随手即愈。
《惠眼观证》茱萸膏，治疗遍身疥疮及头疮的方子：
药材：茱萸（炒）、黄连（各一两），黄蜡、松糖（各半两）。
制法与用法：将前两味药研成末，将油煎化黄蜡、松糖，加入一寸葱头共同煎煮，待葱头变成红色取出葱头，用前两味粉末调匀，倾出收存。如果患者先用葱汤洗过，然后再用药，不超过三五次即可痊愈。
《张氏家传》许多小儿多患头疮，若不治疗，长大后便成秃疮，有的终身不长头发的方子：
取肥珠子一两个，独子的最佳，没有则不拘泥，保留药性烧成灰，用油瓶底的浓油脚调涂，不超过三次，可永除病根。
《庄氏家传》治疗小儿头上肥疮的方子：
将蛇床子炒至焦色，研成末，用油调敷。
《庄氏家传》治疗小儿头疮的方子：
绿豆（生研为末），黄连，水银粉（少许）。
制法与用法：研成末，用生麻油调敷。

将鸡蛋壳烧成灰为末，加入腻粉，用油调敷。

用野狼牙草汁清洗敷贴，效果奇妙。

燕窠（一个，炭火烧至黑色），腻粉（少许）。
制法与用法：研细，用生麻油调敷。

蚯蚓粪（炭火烧），腻粉（各少许）。
制法与用法：研细，先用甘草温水清洗疮面，擦干，用生油调涂，神妙。
《孔氏家传》治疗小儿头疮的方子：
药材：黄丹、腻粉、白胶香（等分）。
制法与用法：研成末，先清洗患处，用油调涂。
《孔氏家传》另一首方子：
将寒水石烧过后，研如粉。每次取寒水石半两，加入腻粉三钱，一小块水银，研磨至无星点，颜色变青，则用油调敷，效果奇妙。
《王氏手集》治疗小儿头疮，奶癣的方子：
将马兜铃一两烧成灰为末，用油调，加入少许腻粉同敷。
《赵氏家传》治疗小儿头疮的方子：
药材：马兜铃、五倍子（等分）。
制法与用法：研成末，用生油调涂。
《吉氏家传》治疗小儿头疮，恶疮，久不愈合的方子：
药材：臭橘叶（一握，取自然汁，不计多少），黄柏（末），五灵脂（各二钱），轻粉（炒，一钱匕）。
制法与用法：将上述药物研成末，同橘油汁调涂疮上，一时辰之间，用一张黑纸贴在头上，等待一时辰取下，黑纸上会有细小的白虫。
[Head Sores and Frostbite Pruritus] Total of eighteen categories
*Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun* (Source of Diseases and Symptoms) on Pediatric Head Sores: Due to heat within the zang-fu organs, heat qi rushes upward to the head. Simultaneously, wind-dampness pathogens invade. The damp-heat combats and obstructs the blood and qi, transforming into sores.
*Ying Tong Bao Jian* (Precious Mirror for Infants and Children): Pediatric head sores are caused by heat in the six yang meridians. The meridians of the six yang converge at the head; thus, when heat pathogens attack the yang, causing stagnation and lack of flow, head sores arise.
*Qian Jin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) treats all types of pediatric head sores. If left untreated for a long time, they may transform into carbuncles, accompanied by itching and failure to form scabs. *Lilu Gao* (Veratrum Ointment):
Herbs: *Veratri Rhizoma* (Lilu), *Coptidis Rhizoma* (Huanglian), *Realgar* (Xionghuang), *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin), *Pini Resina* (Songzhi) (each 2 liang), *Suis Medulla* (Zhuzhi) (0.5 jin), *Alumen* (Fanshi) (5 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Powder the seven herbs. Boil the pig fat until blended. First wash the affected area with *Rhamni Fructus* (Chilongpi, i.e., tree bark) and *Gastrodiae Rhizoma* (Tianma) decoction. After washing, apply the ointment.
*Qian Jin Fang* treats pediatric head sores that have persisted for over a year without healing.
Herbs: *Pini Resina* (Songzhi), *Sophorae Flavescentis Radix* (Kushen), *Coptidis Rhizoma* (Huanglian) (each 1.5 liang), *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* (Dahuang), *Cerussa* (Hufen) (each 1 liang), *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin), *Hydrargyrum* (Shuiyin) (each 1 liang 6 zhu), *Alumen* (Fanshi) (0.5 liang), *Cnidii Fructus* (Shechuangzi) (18 zhu).
Preparation and Administration: Powder the nine herbs. Mix with pig fat collected in the twelfth lunar month. Grind the mercury until no silver specks are visible, then apply.
Another prescription from *Qian Jin Fang*:
Apply large insect or animal fat directly to the lesion. It also treats tinea capitis (white baldness).
*Qian Jin Yi Fang* (Supplement to Essential Prescriptions) treats pediatric head sores.
Herbs: *Cerussa* (Hufen) (1 liang), *Coptidis Rhizoma* (Huanglian) (2 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Pound and powder these two herbs. Wash the sore to remove scabs, dry thoroughly, and apply. It heals immediately; if it recurs, reapply. It also treats genital sores.
Another prescription from *Qian Jin Yi Fang*:
Herbs: *Cerussa* (Hufen), *Pini Resina* (Songzhi) (each 2 liang), *Hydrargyrum* (Shuiyin) (1 liang), *Suis Adeps* (Zhufangzhi) (4 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Decoct the first four ingredients together, filter out the dregs, add mercury and cerussa, stir to blend, and apply. Adults may use it as well. The *Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* (Holy惠民 Formulas) has the same formula but requires grinding cerussa with a little water and mercury until the mercury specks disappear before use.
*Qian Jin Yi Fang* treats pediatric heat sores accompanied by restlessness and heat in the body and head, specifically eroding sores.
Wash with *Morus Alba Cortex* (Zibai pi) decoction, and seal/apply fresh tender leaves. It primarily treats ulcerative sores.
*Wai Tai Mi Yao* (Prescriptions Behind the Golden Screen) records Fan Wang’s *Liao Shanghan Baigao* (White Ointment for Cold Damage):
Massage the "Shou Dang" acupoint on the body one thousand times to activate the medicinal power. It also treats malignant sores, pediatric head sores, and equine saddle sores on cattle. First wash the malignant sore with salt water, pat dry, apply the ointment to the swelling, massage towards the fire for one thousand times, twice daily, until the swelling subsides.
Herbs: *Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata* (Tianxiong), *Aconiti Radix* (Wutou, prepared), *Polystachyos Herba* (Mangcao), *Akebiae Trifoliate Fructus* (Yangzhizhu) (each 3 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Chop the four herbs. Soak in three sheng of vinegar overnight. Construct an east-facing stove exposed to dew. Prepare twelve piles of wet earth, each about one sheng. Melt three jin of lard in a copper vessel placed on the stove. Use reed firewood to melt the fat, add the soaked herbs, and boil. Remove and place on the earth piles. Return to fire to boil. Repeat this process twelve times until all earth piles are used. Strain the dregs. For cold damage headache, take orally with wine, size of an apricot kernel, cover warmly to induce sweating. For sore throat, hold in mouth like a jujube pit, swallow three times daily. Avoid contact with eyes. (Same as *Qian Jin Fang*. Avoid pork.)
*Wai Tai Mi Yao* records *Ji Yan Fang*’s *Tianma Cao Tang* (Gastrodia Herb Decoction) for pediatric head sores.
Herb: *Gastrodiae Rhizoma* (Tianma Cao).
Preparation and Administration: Cut five sheng of Tianma Cao. Decoct with ten and a half sheng of water to yield one dou. Wash the pediatric head sores according to temperature preferences. After washing, apply *Feiwu Gao San* (Flying Bird Ointment Powder).
*Feiwu Gao San* Herbs: *Xi Fen* (Black smoke from burning Cinnabar to produce mercury, roasted until dry), *Alumen* (Fanshi, calcined to powder, 3 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Sieve the two herbs through silk. Blend with *Jia Jian* (Insect Lacquer) to a paste consistency. Apply to head sores three times daily. If made as a powder, no blending is needed; it adheres naturally to exudates. This powder also treats various heat sores, yellow fluid weeping sores, honey sores, male genital erosion with itching and dampness, pediatric head sores with gan infection, perioral fatty sores, and snail-like sores. (Tianma Cao leaves resemble hemp leaves, grows in winter, flowers in summer like mouse-tail flowers.)
*Wai Tai Mi Yao* records *Jiu Ji Fang* (Emergency Rescue Formulas) for pediatric head sores persisting for years, recurring after healing.
Herbs: *Realgar* (Xionghuang), *Orpiment* (Cihuang) (each finely ground), *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* (Dahuang), *Phellodendri Cortex* (Huangbai), *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin), *Curcumae Longae Radix* (Jianghuang), *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* (Baizhi), *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* (Danggui), *Styrax* (Qingmuxiang) (each 4 fen).
Preparation and Administration: Chop the nine herbs. Soak in vinegar overnight. Decoct in one da sheng of lard. When Baizhi turns yellow and the ointment forms, strain. Add one liang of mercury, grind with saliva in hand until dissolved, mix into the ointment, and store in porcelain. Before each use, wash the sore with *Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus* (Zaojiao) decoction, dry, apply ointment, changing day and night twice, until healed.
*Wai Tai Mi Yao* records *Gu Jin Lu Yan* for pediatric head sores also appearing on the face and worsening over time.
Herbs: *Coptidis Rhizoma* (Huanglian), *Adzuki Bean* (Chixiaodou) (equal parts).
Preparation and Administration: Pound to powder. Mix with lard from the twelfth lunar month and apply. Heals and stops progression.
*Zi Mu Mi Lu* (Secret Record of Mother and Child) treats pediatric head sores and women's facial sores.
Wash with *Cuscutae Semen* (Tusizi) decoction.
*Zi Mu Mi Lu* treats pediatric head sores where hair fails to regrow.
Crush *Broussonetiae Folium* (Qiuye) to extract juice. Apply to the sore; hair will grow. Also treats tinea capitis.
*Zi Mu Mi Lu* treats pediatric head sores above the ear.
Burn bamboo leaves to ash, mix with lard, and apply. Applying egg white is also effective.
*Zi Mu Mi Lu* treats pediatric head sores, tinea capitis with hair loss, and weeping lesions.
Take seven eggs, remove shells, simmer in a copper vessel, extract oil, and apply.
Chen Cangqi recommends treating pediatric head sores, lip sores, and post-auricular moon-shaped sores.
Apply *Jia Jian* (Insect Lacquer).
Chen Cangqi treats pediatric head sores and carbuncle swellings/genital sores.
*Tribuli Fructus* (Jili zi) can be powdered and rubbed. Its leaves treat wind-induced itching; boil for bathing.
Chen Cangqi’s Materia Medica treats pediatric head sores.
Apply pig bile or sheep bile.
Sheng Jin You treats malignant sores on children's heads.
Bury fermented soybeans (Douchi) in yellow soil and bake until cooked. Cool, remove beans, powder them, mix with pure vegetable oil, and apply. Heals.
*Shi Liao* (Food Therapy) treats pediatric head sores.
Burn horse bones to ash, mix with vinegar, and apply. Also treats body sores and tinea capitis. Urinate with mixed-color horses (unvoided urine), warm and wash repeatedly. Ten washes cure it.
*Tang Ben Cao Zhu* (Commentary on Tang Materia Medica) treats pediatric head sores.
Chew raw *Sesami Fructus* (Huma) and apply. Also chew white sesame and apply. (Sesame with eight-sided pods is Ju Ma; those with four sides are Hu Ma. Black ones are superior, white are inferior.)
*Yao Xing Lun* (Discourse on Medicinal Properties) treats pediatric head sores.
Burn turtle shell to ash and apply.
*Yao Xing Lun* treats pediatric head sores.
Powder *Polygoni Orientalis Folium* (Liaoye), mix with white honey (or egg white), and apply. Worms will exit without leaving scars.
*Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* treats malignant sores on children's heads.
Herbs: Human feces ash, Dog feces ash, Pig feces ash, *Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus* (Zaojiao) ash, Fermented Soybean (Douchi, stir-fried until slightly charred), Calcined Alum (Baifan) ash (each 0.5 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Pound and sieve finely into powder. Mix with raw sesame oil for application. Change once daily until healed.
*Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* treats pediatric head sores persisting for a long time with continuous discharge of foul fluid.
Herbs: *Coptidis Rhizoma* (Huanglian, remove stamens), *Phellodendri Cortex* (Huangbai, chopped), Calcined Alum (Baifan) (each 1 liang), *Cnidii Fructus* (Shechuangzi) (0.5 liang), *Cerussa* (Hufen) (3 fen).
Preparation and Administration: Pound and sieve finely. Mix with rendered lard to form a paste. Apply twice daily. Effective.
*Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* treats pediatric head sores and malignant sores.
Herbs: Fermented Soybean (Douchi), Sesame Oil (MAYOU) (each 2 he), Chou Huang (Banliang), Scallion White (Congbai, 4 liang, finely chopped).
Preparation and Administration: Heat the oil until hot. Add Douchi etc., cook until smoking. Mash thoroughly and apply to the sore. Wrap tightly. Effective.
*Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* another formula:
Herbs: *Coptidis Rhizoma* (Huanglian, 1 liang, remove stamens), *Evodiae Fructus* (Wuzhuyu, raw), Nifen (Nifei Fen), Apricot Kernels (Xingren, blanched, peeled, each 0.5 liang), Sesame Oil (MAYOU) (1 he).
Preparation and Administration: Pound and sieve to powder. Add sesame oil and Xingren, grind into a paste. Before applying, wash with saline solution, dry, and apply. Use twice daily.
*Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* treats chronic pediatric head sores. *Qingsha San* (Green Sand Powder):
Herbs: Mercury (grind with small date flesh until specks vanish), Sulfur, Sichuan Pepper (Chuanjiao, remove seeds), Nifen, Amomum Fruit (Suosha, peeled, each 1 fen), Bamboo Leaves, Dog Skull Bone (each 0.5 liang, burned to ash).
Preparation and Administration: Pound and sieve finely. Grind mercury evenly into the powder. Mix with raw sesame oil and apply. Immediate effect.
*Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* treats malignant sores, gan sores, and soft boils on children's heads. Apply *Hufen San* (Cerussa Powder):
Herbs: *Cerussa* (Hufen), *Coptidis Rhizoma* (Huanglian, remove stamens), Mercury (add little water to Hufen, grind until specks vanish, each 1 liang), Glutinous Rice (21 grains), Adzuki Beans (14 grains), *Evodiae Fructus* (Wuzhuyu, 0.5 fen).
Preparation and Administration: Pound and sieve to powder. Mix with sesame oil and other herbs, blend uniformly, and apply.
*Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* treats pediatric red sores covering the head, face, and chest in patches, unrecognizable by others. Apply *Shuiyin Gao* (Mercury Ointment):
Herbs: Mercury, *Pini Resina* (Songzhi) (each 1 liang), *Phellodendri Cortex* (Huangbai, chopped), Wild Beehive, *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* (Chuan Dahuang) (each 1.5 liang), Nifen (1 fen).
Preparation and Administration: Pound and sieve all herbs except mercury and Nifen. Render half a jin of lard into a thin paste-like ointment. Cool. In palm, mix mercury and Nifen with saliva to a green mud consistency. Incorporate into the ointment, blend well, and apply. Heals in no more than three applications.
*Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* treats pediatric head sores persisting for years, recurring after healing. Apply *Xionghuang Gao* (Realgar Ointment):
Herbs: Realgar (Xionghuang), Orpiment (Cihuang) (each finely ground), *Phellodendri Cortex* (Huangbai), *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin), *Curcumae Longae Radix* (Jianghuang), *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* (Baizhi), *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* (Danggui), *Styrax* (Muxiang) (each 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Finely chop all herbs except Realgar and Orpiment. Soak in head vinegar overnight. Decoct in one jin of lard. When Baizhi turns reddish-yellow and ointment forms, strain. Add one liang of mercury, grind with saliva in palm until specks vanish, mix into ointment. Add Realgar and Orpiment powders, stir again. Store in porcelain box. Before use, wash sore with saline, dry, and apply.
*Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* treats pediatric head sores. *Zicao Gao* (Arnebia Ointment):
Herbs: *Arnebiae Radix et Rhizoma* (Zicao, 2 liang, remove colorless branches, powder), Horse Intestine Root (Ma Chang Gen, powder), Apricot Kernels (Xingren, blanched, peeled, ground, each 1 liang), Realgar (Xionghuang, fine powder), *Evodiae Fructus* (Wuzhuyu, crushed, each 1 fen), Pure Sesame Oil (Qing MAYOU, 8 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Heat sesame oil in a clean pan. Add Xingren and Wuzhuyu, simmer gently for 2-3 boils. Remove from heat. Filter through raw silk. Add Zicao and Ma Chang Gen powders. Simmer 5-7 boils. Filter again. Adjust consistency. Add Realgar powder, blend. Store in porcelain. Before use, wash sore with saline, dry, and apply. Immediate effect.

Preparation and Administration: Powder. Grind evenly with lard. Apply.

Herbs: Mercury, *Pini Resina* (Songzhi), *Cerussa* (Hufen) (each 2 liang), Lard from twelfth lunar month (0.5 jin, refined oil).
Preparation and Administration: Put in copper vessel, cook over fire until ripe. Grind until mercury dissolves and ointment forms. Apply, then dust with powder.
Alternative: *Coptidis Rhizoma* (Huanglian, powder, 5 liang), Mercury (1 liang), Cuttlefish Bone (Wuzeiyu, 3 liang, roasted).
Preparation and Administration: Grind mercury until dissolved, powder, apply over ointment. Alternatively, use *Pseudostellariae Radix* (Bailian) to grind mercury. Wash sores with peach leaf decoction, or peach bark, or *Saussureae Radix* (Yelangya). All are good.
