茅先生∶小儿于六十日内连哭，至一百日不止者，此惊疝之候。是以哭而吊起外肾，遇阴疼痛，四肢强直，
哭至天明不已者，此候才见啼叫，急看外肾，或一个在，或一个不在，或两个俱不见。如一个不见，下两粒桃
奴丸；两个不见，下四粒桃奴丸。后用铁掬散（二方并见本门中）贴外肾，常服朱砂膏（方见惊积门中）、匀气散（方见
胃
气不和门中）与服即愈。如面见黑色、气少、项软、鼻口燥黑，死候。女人看两脚下上，便此外肾也。
茅先生小儿吊起外肾桃奴丸方
桃奴（二七个，枝上干桃不落者） 桃胶 乳香（别研。各二钱） 苦瓠子 山 荔子（各二七个）
上为末，每服滴水为丸如○此大，若肾上至四更，用荆芥葱汤下五丸至七丸。
茅先生小儿疝气贴脐，并治吊起外肾铁掬散方
天南星 铁焰粉 甘菊 草乌（各二钱）
上为末。每服二大钱，用葱涎调涂阴上，以纸贴之。
《吉氏家传》治吊肾桃奴散方
干桃（一合，枝上自干者） 舶上硫黄 木香（各二钱）
上件为末，木香汤下一钱。
《千金》灸法∶失精筋挛，阴缩入腹相引痛，灸下满各五十壮，老人加之，小儿随年壮。
《千金翼》灸法∶治失精筋挛，阴缩入腹相引痛，灸中封五十壮。又下满灸五十壮，两脚一百壮。些二穴亦
主喉肿，厥逆，五脏所苦，鼓胀悉主之。老人加之，五十岁以下及小儿并随年壮。
茅先生认为：小儿在出生后六十天内连续啼哭，或者到一百天仍不停止的，这是惊疝的症状表现。因此出现因啼哭而导致外肾（睾丸）上吊的情况，遇到阴寒天气则疼痛加剧，四肢强直，啼哭直到天亮也不停止。当这种症状刚出现啼叫时，要立即检查外肾，可能是一个在阴囊内，一个不在；或者两个都不见。如果只有一个不见，给予两粒桃奴丸；如果两个都不见，给予四粒桃奴丸。之后使用铁掬散（这两个方剂均见于本门中）贴敷于外肾处，并常服朱砂膏（方剂见于惊积门中）、匀气散（方剂见于胃气不和门中），服用后即可痊愈。如果出现面色发黑、气息微弱、颈部软弱无力、鼻口干燥且颜色发黑的情况，属于死证。女性患者需查看两脚之间上方，那里即是外肾所在。
茅先生治疗小儿外肾上吊的桃奴丸方：
桃奴（二十七个，指挂在枝头干枯但未脱落的桃子） 桃胶 乳香（单独研磨，各二钱） 苦瓠子 山荔枝（各二十七个）
以上药物研为细末，每次服药时用滴水制成如弹丸大小的药丸。如果外肾上吊至凌晨四更天，用荆芥葱汤送服五丸至七丸。
茅先生治疗小儿疝气贴脐，并治疗外肾上吊的铁掬散方：
天南星 铁焰粉 甘菊 草乌（各二钱）
以上药物研为细末。每次取两大钱药末，用葱汁调和后涂抹于阴部，再用纸贴住固定。
《吉氏家传》治疗吊肾的桃奴散方：
干桃（一合，指挂在枝头自然风干的桃子） 舶上硫黄 木香（各二钱）
以上药物研为细末，用木香汤送服一钱。
《千金方》灸法：对于遗精导致筋脉拘挛，阴器收缩入腹并牵引疼痛的情况，灸下满穴各五十壮，老年人增加剂量，小儿则根据年龄决定壮数。
《千金翼方》灸法：治疗遗精筋脉拘挛，阴器收缩入腹并牵引疼痛，灸中封穴五十壮。另外灸下满穴五十壮，双脚共灸一百壮。这两个穴位也主治喉肿、厥逆以及五脏的各种病痛，鼓胀病也全部主治。老年人增加剂量，五十岁以下者及小儿均根据年龄决定壮数。
Mr. Mao believes that if an infant cries continuously within sixty days after birth, or continues to cry beyond one hundred days, this is a sign of Jing-Shan (Startle Hernia). Consequently, crying may cause the external kidneys (testicles) to retract upward; pain intensifies upon exposure to yin/cold conditions, accompanied by stiffness of the four limbs and incessant crying until dawn. When these symptoms first appear with crying, one must immediately examine the external kidneys: it may be that one testicle is present while the other is absent, or both are absent. If one is absent, administer two pills of Taonuan Wan (Peach Slave Pill); if both are absent, administer four pills of Taonuan Wan. Subsequently, apply Tieju San (Iron Mortar Powder, see formulas in this section) to the external kidneys, and regularly administer Zhusha Gao (Cinnabar Ointment, see formula in Startle Accumulation section) and Yunqi San (Harmonizing Qi Powder, see formula in Stomach Qi Disharmony section). The condition will heal. If the face appears black, breath is scanty, the neck is soft/weak, and the nose and mouth are dry with a blackish hue, these are signs of death. For female infants, examine the area above the feet between the legs, which corresponds to the location of the external kidneys.
Mr. Mao’s Formula for Taonuan Wan to Treat Infant External Kidney Retraction:
Taonuan (Dried Peaches on Branches, 27 pieces, referring to peaches dried on the branch without falling off) Taojiao (Peach Gum) Ruxiang (Frankincense, separately ground, each 2 qian) Kuhuizi (Bitter Calabash Seeds) Shanzhizi (Cornus Officinalis Fruit, each 27 pieces)
Grind the above into powder. For each dose, mix with water drops to form pills the size of a small bead. If the retraction persists until the fourth watch of the night (approx. 1-3 AM), administer 5 to 7 pills using decoction of Schizonepeta and Scallion as the vehicle.
Mr. Mao’s Formula for Tieju San to Apply to Umbilicus for Infant Hernia and Treat External Kidney Retraction:
Tiannanxing (Arisaema Cum Bile) Tieyanfen (Iron Flame Powder) Ganju (Chrysanthemum Morifolium) Caowu (Aconitum Carmichaelii Deixroot, each 2 qian)
Grind the above into powder. For each dose, take two large qian of powder, mix with juice from Scallion to form a paste, apply to the genital area, and cover with paper to fix it.
"Ji Family Transmission" Formula for Taonuan San to Treat Retracted Testicles:
Gan Tao (Dried Peach, 1 he, referring to peaches naturally dried on the branch) Boshang Huhuang (Imported Sulfur) Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, each 2 qian)
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Administer 1 qian with Muxiang Decoction.
Moxibustion Method from *Qianjin Fang*: For seminal emission causing tendon contraction, retraction of the penis into the abdomen with pulling pain, moxibustion at Xiaman point, 50 moxa cones per side. For the elderly, increase the dosage; for children, adjust according to age.
Moxibustion Method from *Qianjin Yifang*: To treat seminal emission with tendon contraction and retraction of the penis into the abdomen causing pulling pain, moxibustion at Zhongfeng point, 50 moxa cones. Additionally, moxibustion at Xiaman point, 50 moxa cones; total 100 moxa cones for both feet. These two points also primarily treat throat swelling, jue-ni (cold extremities), various disorders of the five zang organs, and distension/bloating. For the elderly, increase the dosage; for those under fifty years old and children, adjust according to age.
