The *Lunxin Jing* (Classic of the Cranium and Fontanelle) records: Tianlei Dan (Heavenly Thunder Erythema) begins from the head and neck.
For the above, use sun-dried scallions mixed with red powder and animal fat to apply externally. Alternatively, mix kiln bottom soil with egg white for topical application.
In the *Chao Shi Bing Yuan* (Source of Diseases in Children by Chao Yuanfang), regarding the syndrome of Tianhuo Dan (Heavenly Fire Erythema) in children: The erythema spreads over the entire body, appearing as red patches burning like fire, hence it is called Tianhuo Dan.
According to *Taiping Shenghui Fang* (Prescriptions of Benevolent Sages): In children, erythema erupts within the flesh, appearing red like cinnabar; when the red area is large, it may be as big as a hand; in severe cases, the whole body becomes red and itchy, thus named Tianhuo Dan.
From *Lunxin Jing*, a prescription for Tianhuo Dan starting from the abdomen and back and spreading over the body:
Use birch bark white powder mixed with raw oil for topical application. One may also use litharge and sheep fat mixed for application.
From *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold), treating Tianhuo Dan in children where redness like cinnabar appears in the flesh, large areas as big as a hand, or in severe cases covering the whole body, accompanied by pain, itching, or swelling:
Take two sheng of adzuki beans, grind into powder, mix with egg white to form a thin paste, apply topically, and change when dry. This prescription is convenient and effective for all types of erythema.
Another prescription from *Qianjin Fang*:
Apply raw sesame oil topically.
From *Taiping Shenghui Fang*, treating Tianhuo Dan in children spreading over the body with redness like crimson color, this prescription is suitable:
Sesame oil (five he) and fresh crucian carp (half jin).
Grind these ingredients into a paste and apply to the erythema; reapply when it dries.
Another prescription from *Taiping Shenghui Fang*:
Tiger fat (two liang) and lead tetroxide (one liang).
Grind these ingredients into an ointment and apply; recovery will follow.
Another prescription from *Taiping Shenghui Fang*:

Zhang Huan's Danshen San (Salvia Powder) prescription: Treats erythema spreading over the body, red as crimson, with severe itching and pain, which is named Tianhuo Dan.
